Chapter 6 He’s Gay!

Olivia Hart

Ever since that night… my body has remembered a man whose name I don’t even know...

I froze in place.

That deep voice...

My body trembled, and a familiar ache pulsed beneath my neck, making my knees weaken.

Turned around slowly, wanting to see the face behind such overwhelming presence, but all I caught was his broad back. His black shirt outlined the muscles of his shoulders in a way that stirred both fear... and admiration.

The elevator doors closed, yet his scent remained trapped inside my lungs.

“Olivia, where are you spacing out? Let’s go!”

Finally snapped back to reality and pulled my eyes away from the elevator that had swallowed the man who managed to enchant me with nothing but his voice and scent.

“Right! Let’s go, Evelyn.”

We left the company, but the way he spoke still echoed inside my ears that refused to tire of hearing it.

“What’s wrong with me? Why am I acting like some needy girl just because I heard his voice? My cheeks feel so hot they might explode.”

Touched my flushed face for no reason while remembering that familiar tone that had taken over my thoughts.

“You got over that bastard Alexander fast, Olivia,” I muttered sarcastically to myself.

Alexander, despite his handsome face and captivating eyes.. had never awakened my instincts this way before. Though he had the looks of a real man, there was still something incomparable about the other one.

“Olivia.”

“Are you planning to make me wait forever? Get in!”

Shook away my fantasies before opening the car door and sitting down.

“What’s going on with you, girl? You look like you’re on another planet.”

“I think I’m floating.”

Leaning back against the seat, a light sigh escaped me.

She pinched my thigh out of nowhere. “Where did that brain wander off to this time?”

Ran my tongue over my lips, my thoughts turning restless. Imagining what my eyes might find beneath that tight shirt was enough to make me lose my mind.

“It traveled to that sexy president’s back.”

“You’re such a pervert.”

Evelyn shifted the gear into reverse with a sly expression as she glanced at me.

The car started moving while a mischievous smile spread across her lips.

“We’re not here for love, Olivia. You know that,” Evelyn warned, eyeing me suspiciously.

“I’m not here for him either... but something inside me feels drawn to him.”

A sigh left me as we drove out of the parking lot and I busied myself adjusting the seatbelt.

Shock covered her face after hearing the way I spoke.

“Wait!”

She pressed her hand against my forehead to check my temperature, unaware that all the heat existed somewhere she couldn’t possibly reach.

“Do you have a fever? I think you’re hallucinating.”

She furrowed her brows for what felt like the thousandth time whenever I mentioned him.

“You’re talking like you know everything about him. That’s Dominic Kane, ceo of the Kane Empire, Olivia! And they say he’s married. There are even rumors that he’s gay!”

“Don’t try to seduce him, Olivia. He’ll never be yours in the end.”

Evelyn added with the tone of a married woman trying to pull me away from dangerous thoughts I wasn’t even interested in.

Muttered in a teasing tone just to annoy her. Playing with her emotions however I wanted had always been easy for me.

“I could become his second wife.”

Didn’t change my intoxicated tone as I continued, throwing the words like bait for a bird foolish enough to believe everything that came out of my mouth.

“Or his secret mistress... even if he’s gay, he’d still want me badly.”

Without warning, while I was distracted watching the road ahead, she smacked my thigh.

“So that means you’d become a whore in my eyes and in the eyes of everyone who knows you?”

“If I’d even have the chance! How could a man like him care about an amateur model, even if he wanted my body?”

Rested my head against the window with a bitter smile as Alexander Kane crossed my mind again.

“Who am I in a world filled with gorgeous, high-class girls, Evelyn?”

---

They contacted me and accepted me as a model.

The next two days passed quickly, and today was the company photoshoot. Excitement tore through my insides so badly that I barely slept the night before.

Woke up sluggishly and headed to the bathroom. Took a hot shower to ease the tension knotting inside me and wash away the exhaustion clinging to my face.

Stayed awake until late last night thinking endlessly, wondering how I would look in the advertisement... whether I’d truly be good enough.

But the biggest thought consuming me was Alexander’s reaction when he saw me across giant screens and magazines, standing against him with a fierceness he would never understand.

No doubt he’d lose his mind once my face covered the electronic billboards in the crowded streets.

A vicious sense of victory spread through me before I’d even tasted it.

Sly smile curved across my lips as water droplets slid over my skin beneath my hand, reminding me that my femininity was still alive after nearly withering because of him.

“Everything will be fine and perfect, Olivia.”

Quiet laugh escaped me, dark and cunning, like I was declaring war.

My heart still hurt every time his memory crawled into my thoughts, but my tears would never fall for a bastard like him again.

Hurried downstairs where the breakfast table sat in the center of the hall. Found my father, his poisonous wife, and my younger brother eating together.

Addressed them calmly.

“Good morning.”

After throwing murderous looks at me, my stepmother answered mockingly, trying to provoke my already thin patience in every disgusting way possible.

“It must be the end of the world, Olivia! First time in your life I’ve seen you awake this early.”

Swallowed my irritation as my dry throat begged for cold water. Moistened my lips, struggling to keep my temper restrained.

“You’re right. I have important work today, so I didn’t wake up just to see your beautiful face, stepmother.”

Her face harden with rage, my limbs stiffened strangely. Her cheeks turned red, and I realized she wouldn’t forgive me this time.

“Important work? Wonderful! Olivia finally has important things to do.”

Smiled with fake sweetness that cost me enormous effort to maintain.

“Yes! Your words are correct.”

My father’s furious shout cut through our argument. That harsh tone he always used to silence me.. the one I’d spent my entire life hearing...was nothing new.

“You! Show your mother some respect and speak to her properly. Don’t you see her in the kitchen making your food?”

My eyelid twitched in disbelief. He had never called her my mother before. He knew well who my real mother was.

“My mother? She isn’t my mother and she’ll never compare to her.”

He slammed his fork down with a growl that shook my body.

“Yes, you disobedient girl! She’s the mother who took care of you since you were fifteen, and don’t think the filth that comes out of your mouth in my absence never reaches me.”

I stood up, breathing hot air through clenched teeth. My hand slammed against the table hard enough for the dishes to rattle.

“Fine! I’m disobedient like you want. I’m the evil one in this family, while your wife is the angel who never says anything filthy either.”

My father’s eyes turned red with rage. He answered with explosive fury, looking seconds away from slapping me if he hadn’t controlled himself.

“Get out of my sight!”

Noticed how tightly his fist clenched, so I decided to leave before he hit me.

“Gladly.”

There was no doubt the anger inside my chest had begun overflowing little by little... and it wouldn’t stop until it drowned this entire house and everyone in it.

Muttered to myself before leaving.

“To hell with your damned breakfast... and damn your damned wife too.”

Walked out ready for a new future.

More importantly... ready to finally see and know Dominic Kane.

“Who are you, Mr. Ceo?”
