Chapter 1
THE MESSAGE.
GAEL'S POV.
'Finally, it has arrived. I would be getting married to her, in the next one hour' I thought, with excitement. I was standing In Front of a full, lengthy, mirror, dressed in my expensive, designer, three-piece suit. My black, curly, hair was strengthened, and I had on a diamond-stoned wristwatch, with earrings.
I knew, I looked dashingly handsome and was proud of it. Just then, my secretary complimented me.
" You look so handsome, Mr. Robert". I threw him a smile from the mirror, pleased with his compliment. I was still admiring myself, when I remembered, someone was missing. My best friend, Carlos.
" Donald" I called my secretary's name.
" Right behind you, sir," He responded.
" Where is Carlos and why isn't he here yet?" I asked, while trying to adjust my cufflinks, onto my suit.
" I have no idea sir, perhaps he woke up late, due to the hangover he might have experienced this morning, from too much drinking, last night" Donald explained, and I kept quiet, thinking he might be right.
" What about the bride?" I asked, while straightening my suit, for the hundredth time, to which Donald shook his head slightly. Well, I could not blame him, for I was acting lovesick, and like an impatient guy.
' Well, I was impatient, the freaking wedding should just commence' I thought, irritably.
" Probably getting dolled up by the fashion team" He responded and I nodded in satisfaction, remembering how I and Ashely met. When I was 9, my parents took me to visit an old friend of theirs, who just relocated here, to our country.
During their excited conversation, I got bored, and decided to go outside, only to bump into a little, cute, girl, who fell to the floor, at the impact. I immediately helped her up, while apologizing, and I think that was when I fell in love with her. We became close since then, and our parents could not be more happy.
We grew up together, attended the same school, and did almost everything together. Along the line, I confessed my feelings to her, which she reciprocated, and we began dating. Two years later, when I had successfully built my own company, I proposed to her, and gladly, she accepted.
' Today is finally our wedding, the beginning of another journey ' I thought.
Just then, there was a loud commotion outside, I could hear people running around, like lost rabbits, while also trying to whisper, to one another. It was none of my business, whatever was going on, but I could not let a trivial issue or so, ruin my and Ashely's day, so I sent Donald to check it out, and also settle, whatever the issue was, if possible.
As soon as Donald went out, my cell phone, on a table nearby, pinged loudly, alerting me, that I had a message.
ASTRAL'S POV.
The bus stopped at my exit, and I happily got off it and began walking to my destination. Along the way, I got impatient and started hopping instead. People were watching me, with amusement on their faces, but I did not mind, and just continued hopping, till I got to " ROSEVILLE EVENT HALL".
I squealed in excitement, happy, my dreams were finally coming to pass. I walked into the hall and met my manager, who instantly directed me to the dressing room, to get prepared for my shoot, for there was no time to waste. Immediately, the dress team sighted me, they undressed me, and got me dressed, in a white, thin, overflowing wedding dress. My back to my waist was open and exposed.
My full, black, hair was rolled, and packed into a curt bun, with pins attached to it. Some strands were also left out, and held with clips. The makeup artist did justice to my face. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I could not recognize myself. I looked so beautiful, pure, untainted.
The dress team disappeared, after dressing me up. I took a deep breath, happy for this opportunity. I remember when I went for the audition, how nervous I was. If not for my manager, cheering me up, and encouraging me, I would have lost my confidence and acted poorly, because I was not the only upcoming actress competing for the role. In fact, popular actresses were competing, for if they should get the lead role, they would become more famous and loved by fans.
I was going to be acting as the female lead, in a popular novel, being acted into a movie. ' I can finally see myself, making my way to stardom' I thought with a smile. I walked out of the dressing room and got confused instantly. I saw no way familiar, just hallways, and I could not remember which hallway I had come from earlier, for I was not paying attention then, due to my excitement.
' I think, it is to your right' My subconscious nudged, and I decided to follow, going down the right path, hoping I was not going in the wrong direction.
GAEL'S POV.
I looked at my phone, lying on the table, contemplating whether to pick it up or not. I knew the message was probably a congratulatory message, from one of my distant friends, or business partners.
' It could be something else, something important' My subconscious nudged, and I realized it was right, so I decided to pick it up, to check who the message was from, and to know what the content was.
It was from my baby, Ashely. I smiled, just at the sight of her number, and wondered, what was it, she wanted to tell me. I quickly clicked on the content of the message, and waited, impatiently, for it to load.
Finally, the message was visible, for me to read, and I did, but started gasping, in shock, along the way. When I was finally done, my phone fell from my hand to the ground, from too much shock. Just then, the door flew open, and Donald hastily came in.
He saw my state, and my phone on the floor, and probably guessed what happened. His horrified, pitiful expression confirmed everything I needed to know.
