Chapter 4 Arthur and Sloane Arrive in Regal City

Hearing this, Sloane immediately stopped crying and said happily, "Really? That's great! Jennifer will be so happy to see us when we get to Regal City!"

Seeing Sloane so happy, Arthur couldn't help but smile too.

After bouncing around excitedly for a while, Sloane suddenly remembered something and couldn't help worrying, "But Dad, Zanna said Mom is also in Regal City. If we run into Mom, will she stop us from playing with Jennifer?"

"No, she won't."

Beatrice's biggest strength was being sensible.

He never planned to hide from her that he and Sloane were going to see Jennifer.

The next day, Arthur arrived in Regal City with Sloane.

Thinking about seeing Jennifer soon made Sloane incredibly happy.

But she still couldn't help worrying about running into Beatrice.

Although Beatrice hadn't made her breakfast these past few days, she found herself missing her a little.

But if she really saw Beatrice, she would definitely cling to them like before and try everything to stop Sloane and Arthur from seeing Jennifer.

Compared to seeing Beatrice, Sloane hoped more to have fun with Jennifer.

Thinking of this, Sloane couldn't help urging, "Dad, let's go find Jennifer quickly."

Arthur responded, but seemed somewhat distracted.

He didn't rush to take Sloane to find Jennifer. Instead, following his memory, he came to the York Family estate.

He wasn't there to find Beatrice—he and Sloane just needed a temporary place to stay.

Beatrice was his wife in name, after all, so there was no need to go to a hotel.

Besides, he and Sloane were used to Beatrice's cooking. They'd been feeling a bit off not eating her food lately.

He just missed the cooking, not Beatrice.

But when he brought Sloane to the York Family estate, the gate was tightly shut.

Arthur took out the spare key Beatrice had given him before, only to find it wouldn't open the lock.

She had changed the locks behind his back.

Remembering how Beatrice had said her home was his home when she gave him the key, Arthur found it laughable.

Her words really couldn't be trusted.

Arthur took out his phone and for the first time actively dialed Beatrice's number. She didn't answer.

Seeing Arthur couldn't reach Beatrice, Sloane pouted in displeasure.

Originally she didn't want Arthur to look for Beatrice first, but on the way here, she found herself somewhat looking forward to seeing Beatrice.

Who would have thought Beatrice would lock them out?

Jennifer was definitely better.

"Dad, forget about her. Let's go find Jennifer."

"Jennifer's busy with work. I'll take you around first."

Although he also wanted to see Jennifer soon, Jennifer had her own career. She wasn't like Beatrice, who had no sense of self and came whenever called.

When the sun was about to set, Arthur finally contacted Jennifer.

Learning that Arthur had brought Sloane to Regal City, Jennifer was thrilled, "Arthur, why didn't you tell me earlier? Where are you?"

"I knew you were busy. I've booked your favorite restaurant—let's have dinner together tonight?"

After Arthur sent Jennifer the restaurant address, he spotted a familiar figure in the distance.

Beatrice, who had been missing for a while, was actually walking with a man.

The man was tall with long legs and handsome features. It looked like he had dressed up carefully.

Arthur almost thought he was seeing things.

Since Beatrice married him, she had consciously kept her distance from other men and would always report to him wherever she went.

Not that he cared.

But for Beatrice to meet another man behind his back seemed pretty outrageous to Arthur.

Sloane was also angry. For Beatrice to be with another man behind Arthur's back was just too much.

"Mom, what are you doing here?"

Hearing Sloane's voice, Beatrice's heart instinctively trembled. The moment she saw Arthur and Sloane, Beatrice felt a wave of joy out of pure instinct.

But she quickly calmed down and didn't rush over to them like she used to.

"Arthur, why did you bring Sloane to Regal City?"

Seeing that Beatrice's first reaction to seeing them wasn't joy but questioning, they both felt uncomfortable.

Sloane pouted in displeasure and turned her head away, "We're not here to see you anyway!"

An expected answer.

All these years, wherever she went, she would actively report to Arthur and Sloane, but they had never once come looking for her.

Even when she was hospitalized before, they hadn't made a single phone call.

"Then I'll be going. Have fun."

Sloane, who was in the middle of throwing a tantrum, was stunned. Arthur coldly blocked Beatrice's path, "Beatrice, if you have nothing important to do, go home and cook for Sloane. Can't you see Sloane has lost weight recently? You're already terrible at everything else—can't you even be a proper mother?"

Beatrice laughed in anger, "Don't you have hands as a father? Or you could ask Jennifer to cook for you. I'm sure she'd be happy to help."

As soon as Beatrice said this, before Arthur could respond, Sloane objected first.

"Jennifer has to work! I don't want Jennifer doing kitchen stuff like that!"

Although she had already given up on Arthur and Sloane, Beatrice still felt her heart being cut like a knife.

She thought she had given Arthur and Sloane everything, but it turned out in their eyes, she was just a housekeeper.

"I'm not going back."

"Not going back? So you're going to keep hiding from me and Sloane, staying in Regal City to date other men?"

Arthur's eyes narrowed dangerously, "Beatrice, don't forget your position."

He didn't care about Beatrice, but the Capulet Family couldn't afford to lose face like this.

As both sides were at a standstill, Jennifer arrived.

Seeing that Beatrice was also there, with a man beside her no less, Jennifer was slightly stunned.

She really was like a ghost that wouldn't go away!

What Jennifer found hard to believe was that Arthur was actually arguing with Beatrice over another man.

Jennifer forced a smile, "Arthur, Sloane, sorry I'm late."

Seeing Jennifer, Sloane cheered and dove into Jennifer's arms like a little rabbit, acting cute, "Jennifer, I missed you so much."

Beatrice watched, slightly stunned. She had never seen this side of Sloane.

So Sloane did know how to act cute—just not with her.

"I missed you too."

Jennifer said gently, her gaze falling on Henry, feeling somewhat uncomfortable.

Beatrice could actually find such a handsome man? Did she even deserve it?

"Hello, sir."

Henry raised an eyebrow, "Do we know each other?"

"I've seen you around Beatrice before. You probably don't know me."

As soon as Jennifer said this, Beatrice knew she was lying.

Since marrying Arthur, she and Henry hadn't seen each other at all.

Besides, if what Jennifer said was true, given her personality, she would have tattled to Arthur long ago. How could she have held it in until now?

Arthur completely believed Jennifer's words, "Why didn't you tell me about this before?"

"You and Beatrice are husband and wife after all. I didn't want to cause problems between you. Besides, I thought this gentleman would keep his distance."

Before Jennifer could finish, Beatrice slapped her across the face.
