Introduction
Veera looked at her kidnapper and raised a brow. She wanted to cuss at him, but realised that was not going to be wise since he was an Alpha who she had saved from the brink of death five years ago. Plus, she was tied to the chair and her mouth had been tapped yet again since she freaked out and screamed at him like any normal victim in a thriller movie.

Chapter 1
"You're late."
"Sorry I got lost, this map doesn't make any sense, it's like a maze."
The strict teacher took the map and turned the paper in all directions and nodded her head.
"You're right, this is a sh* t map." This school was not quite prestigious as the one that I attended before. It was a rough school, with rough-looking kids and rough-looking teachers. But perhaps I was wrong. Maybe this was the only rough-looking teacher with a bad mouth I met.
"I know because I got lost just yesterday. Plus I'm not your teacher."
"You're not?"
"Nope. I'm the principal’s cousin, I'm just helping him out for some time till the old one gets back. My name is Miss Hale."
"Nice to meet you."
She smiled and walked into the classroom talking to a group of teenagers who were half asleep and some who were talking loudly.
"Quiet! Listen up you brats! Welcome your new classmate. What's your name again kid?" She asked in an almost snappy way since the class was not listening to her request and still kept on chatting, not bothered about my plain-looking entrance.
The substitute sighed and looked back at the ignorant class, with no signs of discipline showing on their faces. She was not in the best of moods and cussed silently at them.
"Hi, my name is Veera and I'm new and a Virgo...(sees that no one is paying attention)... and you all don't care so I'm just going to take my seat.." I muttered to myself after my self-introduction, seeing the kids all consumed in their phones, taking selfies with their friends and other people had their headphones on, while others were deep in conversation about a celebrity who was filming in the town.
"Good Idea." The sub said and resumed her class, by slapping a hard textbook on the desk, waking some sleepers in class up. I was startled by the loud noise too and did my best not to react and walked on. Others however groaned at her and gave her glares. Some fell of their chairs at the loud noise and the people that were chatting paid attention finally.
"Glad to have your attention guys. Now Mrs Fontaine said to choose any of the fairy tale stories by the Grimm Brothers..." She went on about the assignment as I tried to find an empty seat. I spotted one at the back by the window.
I took my seat next to a boy with light brown hair. He had his textbook open and was doing some work, unlike the rest of the lazy class. He took notice of me and gave a shortly smiled.
"Hi, I'm Leo and I'm not a Leo, I'm a Scorpio." I smiled nodding at his zodiac humour.
"Which means you sting and probably are deadly?" I humoured him back.
"Only to the bad ones." He nodded in agreement and made me laugh.
"Shut up at the back!" The substitute said strictly.
Leo and I both shut up and opened up a textbook that was on each of our tables.
I took out my notepad and wondered which story I would pick for the assignment.
Later on, Leo showed me around the school and introduced me to his friends.
"So how was your first day of school sweetheart?" My aunt who worked as a fashion editor for a magazine asked. She had become my legal guardian ever since my parents died three weeks ago.
She went by the name of Rita.
"Yeah it wasn't so bad, I made a friend, who showed me around, and also introduced me to two more people."
"Oh that's good, I hope they are good friends?"
"Yeah, they're a good bunch." Except for one.
"They're not Weres, are they? Because I've sent you to a school that has the least amount of Weres." As you can tell my aunt was part of the anti-werewolf club. She hated them ever since she had a one-night stand with them in her early twenties.
"Aunt Rita don't worry. I'm fine really, and not all of them are bad. Some are good." I tried to defend them. Aunt Rita frowned at that. The Werewolves, or as they like to be called the Weres were quite a dominant species in the entertainment world, business world, the sports world, the security world (army and police) and sadly the underworld. She also hated the fact that her former boss who was a human had now been replaced with a Were.
Also, she had dated a hunter in the past which made her see the bad side of them. But she was wrong. She had judged them too quickly when they came up on the news for murders. Sure there were bad Weres out there, but those were the rogues that were mainly the dangerous ones.
"They're all bad Veera, don't you forget that. Your parents got murdered because of them." Somehow I failed to believe that.
I sighed getting up from the dinner table with my now empty pasta plate. I went to the sink and washed up fast.
"You're wrong! My parents were cops. They both had Were partners working with them! Juliet and Dante (there Were cop partners) died with them too and for your information, they were protecting them. If you only met them you would have known how much they cared for them."
"They cared for them because they got un-naturally cured by your parents. But then again, they broke the law of the Apsara." She added coldly.
You must be wondering, TF is an Apsara? Well, let me enlighten you. I am an Apsara or better known as an Angel. If you're imagining an Angel with white wings with a halo on top, you're wrong. I look like an ordinary human, except I'm not human thanks to my miracle healing abilities in my touch and my blood.
The story of my ancestors is rather a long one. But I'll tell you a short version of it. See we used to have wings, but one of my ancestors did something crazy and was kicked out of the heavens like eight thousand years ago since she became friends with someone from hell after he saved her from drowning. It was non-other than a Werewolf. Yes. The Weres hail from hell.
My ancestor and the Were became friends. But that was considered as a forbidden bond of friendship they privately shared since they also then fell in love. As all love stories go, they were found out by their natural enemies.
They tried to keep them apart, but they defied everyone that came in their path. She was then given an ultimatum by an elderly Apsara and simply asked her to choose from..
Heaven or Hell?
So my ancient ancestor decided to stay on Earth which was close to Hell, with her Were friend and as a consequence, she was stripped of her wings. Ouch. She also lost her beauty and her glow, but she didn't care.
The only thing she was left with was now her healing abilities. Her abilities were now passed on to the next generation.
"They did not break any law! They saved them like a doctor would do to any dying patient!" With that, I stormed off to my room leaving her speechless.
I hated the fact that she brought that up. I was forbidden to use my special powers since it would only cause bad trouble, and unwanted attention from a secret society known as the Red Tenshi, who I believe killed my parents and their Were friends.
The Red Tenshi, not a lot is known about where they are based. All I know is that they are bad news and they are Apsarsas too, but the bad kind of ones you do not want to mess with.
.
.
.
After three days, I got used to the new town.
Leo had introduced me to his friend circle. Emerald and Jack.
Leo, Emerald and Jack were probably out at a night club to which I couldn't go to because Aunt Ella was a rather strict guardian who kept me away from such fun.
I got a call on my phone.
"Hello?"
"Veera, Veera, Vee (hicups) ra.." It was Leo on the phone. He sounded strangely odd.
"Dude, are you drunk?"
"Psssshhhh...(hiccups)...No. Hey, where are (hiccups) you? Wow. I can see (hiccups) like three trees or are they peas??.." I sighed putting my books away in my bag. Leo sounds so drunk right now, what is he even talking about?
"I'm at the library? Why?"
"At this hour?" This library closed at 11 pm and this was the only place I could escape to when Aunt Rita brought her very perverted boyfriend home. Just thinking about him gave me the creeps.
"Yeah, where are you?" I asked.
"In front of your building. VEERA! (hiccups).. OH VEERA! (chuckles).." He sang my name happily. He didn't sound like his usual self and then I realised.
"Leo!! Oh my god you're so drunk! Please stop screaming my name like that!" I whisper and yelled on the phone since I was in the local library.
"(chuckles).. Will you come out and (hiccups).. play doll?" I raised a brow at his choice of word.
"Doll?! Leo, are you calling me a doll?" I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
"Why you don't like it?.. Shall I call you (hicups) baby instead?..hmm baby..bae?" If he was trying to flirt with me whilst drunk, he was doing an awful job.
This dude has lost it.
I got of the library and cut the call short with my drunk friend who was not even at the legal age of drinking. My guess would be Jack his douche-bag best friend got him to drink. Plus he was a dealer of the sweet mary jane. To put it simply. He was a bad influence on Leo and Emerald.
Passing by a liquor store fast I suddenly heard gunshots fired in the nearby alley. A powerful growl erupted shaking the ground like a terrible tremor.
My heart skipped beat, when I quickly hid behind a big dark dumpster and saw the man with his gun run and shoot yet again at a big-looking dark brown wolf. Chills ran down my spine as I watched in shock and horror.
"That's the last of you Cascata." The man said skillfully with a cold vengeance looking at the one he shot.
At the end of the mouth of a stony narrow dark alleyway. I saw a man with dark black jeans and a black hood get into the back of a white van and the car escaped. I couldn't see his face since it was covered by his dark hood, but I couldn't forget his voice or his height of 6'1.
A loud growl of pain got me out of my hiding spot.
A ring came through and I quickly answered it still glued to my spot.
"Vee (hiccups) ra?" It was my drunk friend.
"Leo! Oh my god!! Leo..I need to call the cops.."
"What?..wait (hiccups..) what's wrong Veera? where are you?" Leo seemed to be coming out of a drunkard state.
"I'm near the liquor store..I just saw a Were get shot..I need to call the cops!!." I was stressed out in panic mode. I quickly ended the call and quickly dialled the emergency hotline.
"911 what's your emergency?" A female voice asked.
"Hello oh my god! Yes, I just saw someone getting sho-- (Bleeeeep) ..hello?? HELLO! (Veera checks her phone and sees it die out)."
"Sh* t!! No, not now you stupid phone!!" Veera stressed as she whisper yelled and tried to switch on her phone again, but it was completely dead.
A painful growl came and I looked towards the very hurtful wolf.
Gathering my courage, I ran towards the very big creature the size of a horse. This was no ordinary wolf. It was a Were and was snarling at me as I approached it carefully. It could barely move and was oddly bleeding out in black blood. This was strange because Weres normally bled a normal colour of red when they were injured.
"Hey..big guy." I looked at its very angry terrifying glowing blue eyes. It was probably wondering who in the geeky hell I was in the most precious last minutes of its life. Well. Was it in luck? Because I'm the freaking Angel of...well something! But let’s be cool and calm and remind it, that?
"I'm not the grim reaper ok?" He growled at me very viciously telling me to F. Off with its dangerous blue glowing eyes. And guess what. It worked like a charm. I ran away, scared sh* tless of it. I don't think it was clever of me to get close to it since it looked like it would bite me with its knarly looking sharp as death k-nine teeth. No one needs to go through that excruciating pain. Especially not a high-schooler like me. Not that pain would bother me since I heal at a very extraordinary rate. It's crazy.
The Weres also heal, but they take a day or two if the wound is bad. But it looked like its wound was strong enough to take its life away in a couple of minutes.
Was I just going to let him bleed to death and run away? That wasn't me. When deep inside I knew I could do something to help those Were in need.
Feeling guilty. I stopped in my tracks in the narrow alleyway. I found myself slowly going back towards the wounded dying Were. My inner nurse suddenly kicked in.
The Were stared at me baffled in its pain. I couldn't even tell if it was a boy or a girl since I was too occupied looking into its deathly glowing eyes.
They were beautiful.
Now was not the time to be mesmerized by its pretty blue glowing eyes. The creature/person was in pain.
As I got closer, it growled at me angrily and even tried to get up and attack me, but its attempts failed when it staggered on its legs and fell miserably. It whimpered and I could feel it fighting with its enormous body to get up.
It was heartbreaking seeing it like this.
I was glued to the wall staring at it, whilst my heart beat madly out of fear, adrenaline and also sadness. Can a heart beat out of sadness? I'm not sure. My mind was screaming at me to run away, but my heart was telling me to have a heart and save its scary self for the millionth time. It was huge. Like a size of a horse.
If only I had a tranquillizer like a vet, maybe I could relax a little. But looking at its weak self, I don't think I would need to needle it to sleep.
"Don't be afraid. I'm here to help you ok?" I slowly unglued myself from the cold dark brick wall behind me.
The wolf snarled at me once more and barked at me viciously. I just gulped and steadily knelt and grabbed my bag as a form of shield. This was not going to be an easy task. But I knew I had to stop its pain. But first I need to stop it from biting the life out of me.
I looked at it and fought the tears. This was no time to cry. This Were was dying and I couldn't stand by and watch another second.
I knew I had to be careful. Mom had warned me never to let a Were bite me since it could result in me being somehow connected to them. When I asked how she didn't really say, all she said was that they would grow attached to you on a deep basis and she strongly advised against it. Then I thought back to her male partner cop who she was friends with.
I asked her if she had got bitten and she quickly changed the subject to ice cream. I was always a sucker for ice cream. She did inform me however that I wasn't human, and we hailed from a long line of descendants of Angels known as Apsaras. Since we were Apsaras we had the power to heal any dying thing that lay in front of us, from plants to animals to even scary-looking Weres.
I saw the Were's eyes going black and I had no time to waste since I wanted to save its life.
With a quick move I heavily hit the Were on its face with my big fat book bag, and he growled out of annoyance. I bravely caught its snout and jaw and held it tightly underneath my arm whilst I place my other hand over its bleeding wound.
The Were's fur felt cold, and that was a bad sign since they were hot-blooded creatures that did not need a winter coat even in the coldest of winters. The Were moved and I felt its paws grab by leg and suddenly it weakly struck me with its sharp paw. I should have freaked out, but I was too busy healing it to even care about it attacking me. Still, it kept on hitting me on my thigh with its paw. It was getting annoying.
"Ah! Quit it! I'm trying to save your life here!" I snapped and the Were strangely obeyed and pulled his weak paw away.
The Were groaned as it suddenly closed its eyes.
"No..No..c'mon big guy or girl! Stay with me!!" I chanted and prayed silently and suddenly I concentrated and a strange beam of light came out of my hands illuminating his wound. The strange black bullets came out of his wounds and I smiled at the miracle before me.
Then the Were snapped his eyes open and came back to life with his warmth returning to me.
His eyes glowed back with a strange pink glowing light and then went back to his glowing blue. It was weird, but even so, I smiled at him.
"You're going to be ok. Whoever you are..." I removed my hand away from the jaw and snout and suddenly hugged his big head out of sheer joy.
The Were and I just stared at one another not moving and not saying a word. I slowly patted its big head and smiled at it warmly, as if we were already friends.
"You're ok," I repeated and the Were just stared at me completely still to my touch as I patted its head gently. It had the softest fur I had ever felt, and it was now getting warmer by the second, which was a very good sign. I smiled at it giving its big head a sudden hug.
"VEERA!!!" Leo's voice snapped me out of the beautiful wolves’ eyes and I heard a growl erupt from the Were. Then I realised, that I was hugging a stranger and a dangerous person still in his Were form no doubt! I slowly unwrapped my hands from around the Were's neck and slowly and carefully stood up. The Were looked at me and then towards Leo who snarled at wildly.
My heart rode faster than that of a bullet train.
Every human on the planet knew never to get close to a Were since they were part wolf and their meal did consist of humans naturally. Some had a hard time controlling their true selves and would cause murders humans, mistaking them for delicious sheep.
Oh my dear lord, what if the one I was hugging was a dangerous rogue?!
"Please..don't eat me. My friend and I taste bad. Plus...I saved your life, right? You owe me." I did the stupid thing and hit it over with the book bag that I previously used as a shield.
With another vicious growl, I screamed dropping my bag in fear and ran the hell away from the dangerous predator. Now going towards Leo who was scared sh*tless as it stood up to his full height.
The Were gave sudden chase and growled out more viciously than before. This time when it growled, it shook the ground so badly that we both thought we were having a sudden Earthquake.
"Run Veera Run!!" Leo chanted and I caught his hand quickly and got him quickly inside the library closing the door.
We both saw the Were looking at us, before it suddenly disappeared into the night, like a ghost.
Leo and I looked at one another rather terrified and speechless.

George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."

My head fell back, a soft sound escaping me as his fingers memorized my waist. My anger melted beneath his desperation.
"James..." I whispered, more plea than protest.
