Chapter 7 Wearing the Same Outfit—Who Looks Better?
The next day at noon, Alexander's secretary delivered the gown.
Claire rushed over excitedly. As soon as she opened the box, she gasped, "Wow, this looks like the last creation by that legendary French designer! There are only ten pieces in the entire world!"
Hearing this, Madison tilted her head in confusion.
She didn't usually pay much attention to the fashion world. Was this dress really that valuable?
"Come on, let me do your makeup. I'm going to make you the most dazzling woman tonight!" Claire pulled her straight to her vanity.
That afternoon, Claire decided to accompany Madison to the auction, worried about leaving her pregnant friend alone.
As soon as they entered the venue, they heard a commotion nearby.
A woman walked over surrounded by admirers—it was Savannah!
The moment she saw her, Madison instinctively frowned, because Savannah was wearing the exact same blue dress as hers!
Everyone immediately started gossiping:
"Wearing the same dress at an event like this—it must be on purpose, right?"
"When two people wear the same outfit, whoever looks worse loses!"
"I heard one's his wife, and the other's the one that got away..."
In an instant, all the past stories about the three of them were dug up and discussed among the crowd.
A man standing beside Savannah walked over, his eyes scanning Madison up and down with contempt.
"Who do you think you are to wear the same dress as Savannah? You look absolutely terrible!"
Another person also came over, his tone full of disgust: "Where did you get this dress! This is the dress Mr. Frost specially bought at auction for Savannah!"
They were Alexander's friends, also present at the entertainment club that night.
Everyone knew Alexander's attitude toward Savannah. In an awkward situation like wearing matching outfits, the blame could only be placed on Madison.
"I didn't expect you to be so scheming. Can't you stand Savannah that much?" the friend said with disgust.
Claire couldn't stand them slandering Madison like this. She stepped forward to defend her, "This dress was clearly given by Alexander..."
Before she could finish, Savannah gently interrupted: "Oh my, Madison probably didn't mean to match my dress. Don't blame her."
Madison suddenly felt it was all quite pointless.
Whenever something involving Savannah came up, she always became the "guilty one," without even a chance to explain herself.
On the other side, Alexander emerged from the lounge, his gaze seemingly casual but actually searching the crowd for that familiar figure.
When he saw Madison in the blue dress standing among the crowd, a flash of amazement crossed his eyes.
Suddenly, the person over there seemed to sense something and looked toward Alexander as if they shared a telepathic connection.
Just before their eyes met, Alexander looked away.
At that moment, Savannah also noticed Alexander and ran toward him like a little butterfly, holding up her dress.
"Alexander, do I look beautiful today?" She lifted her dress and twirled in front of him.
Only then did Alexander look at her, nodding and saying, "Yes, beautiful."
Two women wearing the same dress, but Alexander only personally praised one of them. In everyone's eyes, his choice was crystal clear.
Madison suddenly felt a tightness in her chest. She gently tugged on Claire's hand, "Come with me to the restroom."
In the restroom, Madison looked at herself in the mirror and smiled mockingly.
She had been curious about why Alexander insisted she come, and now she understood—he wanted to humiliate her one last time.
Another person appeared in the mirror.
Savannah walked into the restroom and stood shoulder to shoulder with Madison in front of the mirror.
She took out her lipstick from her bag, seemingly casually touching up her makeup, but her words were anything but polite.
"I really didn't expect we'd end up wearing the same dress... Alexander bought this dress at a European auction last month as a homecoming gift for me. I didn't expect that after all these years, he still keeps me so close to his heart."
Madison said nothing, just pressed her lips tightly together, watching Savannah through the mirror.
She suddenly noticed that from a certain angle, their faces seemed somewhat similar.
Getting no response to her provocation, Savannah turned and moved closer to Madison, speaking in a falsely concerned tone: "Speaking of which, you've been married for three years—why haven't you had children yet? Could it be because... Alexander has someone in his heart he can't let go of?"
Just then, Claire kicked open a stall door, glaring at her with disdain: "Whether they have children or not is none of your business. Mind your own affairs."
Savannah put away her lipstick, saying casually, "Are you sure you don't want to talk to me?"
Madison hadn't said a single word to her all evening. Why could she act like she didn't care at all? Savannah's anger stuck in her throat, unbearable, which was why she had specifically followed them to the restroom.
"I have nothing to say to you," Madison said.
Savannah clenched her fists, her expression nearly cracking. "Ha, just wait and see. Time will prove everything."
As she passed Madison, Savannah deliberately bumped her shoulder.
Madison was caught off guard and her back hit the sink!
"What's wrong with you!"
Claire cursed and was about to chase after her to demand an explanation, but Madison held her back. Looking back, she saw Madison's face twisted in pain.
"My stomach... feels a bit uncomfortable..."
"Did the baby get hurt?" Claire quickly steadied her and took out the medicine the doctor had prescribed from her bag.
"This is suddenly so funny, Claire." Madison shook her head with a pale face.
She looked down and touched her belly. "Found out about on the same day his father abandoned him, and now pushed by his father's old flame. This child really has a rough fate..."
At that moment, a deep male voice suddenly came from behind them: "What child?"
Claire was so startled she nearly had a heart attack. The medicine bottle slipped from her hand and rolled all the way to the bathroom door.
That voice—so familiar. It sounded like Alexander!
The two turned around to see that the medicine bottle had rolled right to Alexander's feet, lightly tapping his leather shoe with a soft click.
Madison watched helplessly as Alexander bent down to pick up the bottle, so nervous she forgot to breathe!
The bottle had the doctor's instructions and precautions written on it—clearly medication for preventing miscarriage.
She couldn't help but think of what Savannah had just said.
Married for three years, Alexander had never once mentioned wanting children. Was it because... he still loved Savannah?
If he found out she was pregnant, would he keep this child?
