Introduction
Chapter 1
Late at night, by the roadside.
The Maybach parked in the shadows rocked up and down.
Half-naked Emily Johnson straddled the man, her frustration growing as he teased her entrance without fully entering. She threw her head back in exasperation.
"Are you gonna do it or not? If not, let me go!"
The man chuckled lowly. "Chasing me and still so impatient?"
Emily glared at him, speechless.
She had never seen anyone start a pursuit with sex.
Emily was a beauty, with a stunning figure, graceful curves, and eyes that sparkled with emotion. She was a supermodel-level beauty!
Especially now, with her seductive eyes filled with both shyness and anger, the man's restraint crumbled instantly.
With a thrust, he buried himself deep inside her.
The sudden penetration made his eyes darken. "You weren't..."
Emily knew what he was about to say.
Her cheeks flushed, and her brows furrowed from the pain of being torn.
Looking away, her soft voice carried a hint of sarcasm. "Why so surprised? Think I don't deserve to keep my virginity? Or do you think I had it restored just to seduce you?"
The man opened his mouth, but before he could speak, she continued, "Relax, there's no need for that. You know who I am, Mr. Carter. You dragged me here for sex because you think I'm easy, right?"
Raymond looked at Emily's delicate face, recalling what had happened before he pulled her into the car.
Tonight, Emily had planned to propose to James Smith.
James had pursued her for two years. Handsome, from a good family, and deeply affectionate, Emily thought marrying him wouldn't be too bad, so she decided to propose.
But when she arrived at the carefully arranged proposal scene, she found James with another woman, speaking disparagingly about her.
"Emily is such a slut, any man can have her. I just played along for two years, and she actually believed it. Hilarious!"
The woman in his arms giggled, "Mr. Smith, she's planning to propose to you. Isn't it cruel to treat her feelings this way?"
James sneered, "What's wrong with that? She was just a plaything. To be my wife, you need to meet high standards. A woman like her, used by many, isn't qualified."
"Mr. Smith, you can't be serious. You pursued her so publicly for two years. How could it be just a game?"
"If it weren't for a bet with my friends that I could make Emily change, who would want to play this love game? Luckily, I won. No more acting in front of her. You have no idea how sick I was of it!"
Emily never expected that James's tenderness and affection were all an act.
She didn't love him, but after two years, she was somewhat moved. Thinking she had to marry someone, she thought a man who seemed deeply in love with her would be a good choice.
But her one proactive move in this game ended in humiliation.
It was a bit ironic, but not much.
Someone noticed Emily standing at the door and signaled James.
James turned, his eyes showing a moment of guilt.
But it was fleeting. Remembering Emily's reputation, his guilt vanished.
"Heard everything?" he asked, self-righteously.
Emily nodded calmly.
"Good, saves me from explaining. Let's end this farce. Break up, and let's part ways."
The crowd buzzed with excitement!
Emily, the queen of the social scene, had meticulously planned a proposal, only to be mocked as a farce.
It was the joke of the year!
No matter how beautiful she was, no matter how many men adored her, she was still just a plaything, not taken seriously by anyone.
Everyone waited to see Emily's reaction, but she lazily asked, "What was the bet?"
James hesitated, then frowned. "A limited edition supercar."
Emily sighed. "Your feelings are quite cheap."
Her eyes sparkled as she scanned the room, finally locking onto the indifferent, handsome man leaning against the champagne tower.
Raymond, the head of the Carter Group, the true high-society elite, known for his aloofness towards women.
Her high heels clicked rhythmically on the polished floor as Emily swayed her hips and walked up to Raymond.
Holding up the bouquet, she blinked her eyes and flashed a bewitching smile. "Mr. Carter, compared to the idle, rich James, I'd much rather marry you. I only gave James a chance because he was persistent. Now that we're broken up, I can pursue you. What do you say, Mr. Carter, give me a chance?"
While flirting with Raymond, she didn't forget to belittle James.
James's face turned ugly. "Emily, are you crazy? Feeling humiliated after I dumped you, so you're hitting on Raymond to get back at me? He's my friend. Do you think he'd take my leftovers?"
"You're the leftover! No, you're not even that!"
Emily hadn't wanted to respond, but his words were too harsh. She had to retort.
After dismissing him, she focused on Raymond, her eyes sparkling like stars, trying to captivate him.
Raymond raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his eyes, and smirked. "Not impossible."
James was stunned!
Emily was also taken aback, her beautiful eyes glistening.
Weren't these people supposed to avoid their friends' women?
Seeing Emily's confusion, Raymond wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close.
Emily stumbled into his arms, looking up at him with bewildered eyes.
Raymond's smile was enigmatic. "Aren't you going to chase me? Standing there won't do."
Emily couldn't understand his motives but followed his lead. "How should I chase you?"
"Too many people here. Let's go somewhere else."
Emily smiled. "Sure."
Raymond held her as they walked away.
James blocked their path, his face dark. "Emily, haven't you had enough? Raymond, you're going along with this? Since when are you so easygoing?"
Raymond, with an arm around Emily's waist, lazily looked at James. "Are you telling me what to do?"
James's face stiffened, and he shook his head. "That's not what I meant, I..."
Then he turned to Emily. "Emily, are you that desperate for a man? Just broke up with me and already hitting on someone else? Do you think Raymond would want you? The Smith family doesn't want you, let alone the Carter family!"
James wasn't wrong.
The Carter family was one of the top families in Silverlight City, far above the Smith family.
But Raymond said nothing and took her away.
Then Raymond dragged Emily into his car!
After a heated kiss, Emily, half-naked, lost her virginity to Raymond.
She was bewildered!
James had pursued her for two years, and she couldn't stand even kissing him.
But with Raymond, they had sex on the first night!
Raymond's sexy voice, tinged with a hint of mint, whispered in her ear, "You overthink. I just wanted to see if you were a virgin."
Emily was speechless.
Right, she remembered Raymond saying he wanted to see her sincerity in pursuing him before dragging her into the car.
She had thought sincerity meant pursuing with deep affection, like James.
But his idea of sincerity was sex!
Her bare back against the steering wheel, the position was uncomfortable. She turned her head, her tone impatient. "If you're going to have sex, just do it. Why so much talk? Or are you not up to it, Mr. Carter?"
No man could resist such a challenge.
Raymond chuckled, gripping her waist. "Oh? Don't cry later."
Emily wondered why she would cry, but Raymond suddenly increased his pace.
Each thrust was deep and hard!
Emily, never having had sex before, couldn't handle the intensity.
She felt like a small boat in a storm, at risk of capsizing at any moment!
Worse, after taking her twice in the car, Raymond dragged her to a hotel.
Emily spent the entire night paying for her "not up to it" comment!
And it was brutal!

On Christmas Eve, I aborted the CEO's child
On Christmas Eve night, my husband brought his mistress home and demanded that I, his pregnant wife, leave with nothing.
On this day, I lost my husband and also lost the child in my womb...
I Loved You in Silence, You Betrayed Me in French
At my birthday party, my husband whispered to his mistress in French that he missed her. His voice was low, but I heard it all—the black lingerie, the bit about how pregnancy makes you more sensitive. His French clients around us were laughing. He turned and put his arm around me, claiming he was just helping his clients come up with sweet nothings.
He doesn't know I understand every single word. Just like he doesn't know that inside my body, I'm carrying his other surprise. And his mistress—she's pregnant too. Two wombs, one secret.
Confrontation would be too cheap. Tears are worthless. I quietly started cataloging the hidden networks my father left behind, activating the Swiss accounts.
In seven days, Zoey Smith will cease to exist. And what will my husband's reaction be?
He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
When I Disappeared, He Regretted It
The moment the screen lit up, my entire world came crashing down.
The woman on the bed was Calista - that girl who grew up with us since we were kids. And that hand caressing her skin was wearing the wedding ring I had personally put on Matteo's finger.
"I've missed you so much..."
"You drive me crazy, baby..."
Those sweet words I knew so well completely destroyed me.
Everyone said we were the perfect couple, but who knew this marriage was built on nothing but lies?
Since he's so good at acting, I guess it's time I gave him a show of my own. I'm going to make sure everyone sees what this "perfect husband" really is...
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me gone—so his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

"What is wrong with me?
Why does being near him make my skin feel too tight, like I’m wearing a sweater two sizes too small?
It’s just newness, I tell myself firmly.

This is Tyler’s family.
I’m not going to let one cold stare undo that.

Neither does the memory of Tyler. Leaving her here without a second thought.
I shouldn’t care.
I don’t care.

What? No—wait… oh Moon Goddess, no.
Please tell me you're joking, Lex.
But she's not. I can feel her excitement bubbling under my skin, while all I feel is dread.
We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.
And then, just as quickly… he sees me.
His expression twists.
"Fuck no."
He turns—and runs.
