Cold Billionaire: Obsessed After Divorce
Noir · Ongoing · 310.9k Words
Introduction
She was Nora Adams, a poor girl driven out of her home by her vampire-like parents.
By a twist of fate, he concealed his identity and had a whirlwind marriage with her.
Nora was a virtuous wife,
yet in his eyes, she was just a money-hungry woman. He looked down on her, speaking to her with sarcasm and disdain.
Unable to endure any longer, Nora exclaimed, "Divorce! We must get a divorce!"
The man sneered coldly, "Don’t regret it!"
During the divorce cooling-off period, one handsome and wealthy man after another appeared beside her.
Suddenly, Steven lost control, pinning her against the wall and kissing her fiercely. "We can’t get divorced! Absolutely not!"
From then on, the young couple’s life was filled with overwhelming sweetness.
Later, when their baby was born, the cold and brutal Steven transformed into a super dad—every day, he was either coaxing the baby and doting on his wife, or on his way to do so.
However, Nora intended to leave after fulfilling the agreement of having the child.
Steven’s eyes turned red as he begged her, "Nora, I was wrong. Don’t leave me!"
In the end, Steven used every means at his disposal, humbling himself to the dust, just to beg her to glance at him again.
Chapter 1
Nora Adams never thought Steven York would show up today.
They had been married for three months, but she could count on one hand the times she had actually seen him.
She stood in a white spaghetti-strap nightgown, holding a glass of water and scrolling through her phone; in the dim light her slender figure seemed to glow.
Suddenly the door burst open with a bang.
Nora jumped at the sound, startled. Her husband had been missing for a month. She never expected him to suddenly appear without warning..
A man in a suit staggered in, clearly drunk.
He was about 6'2" and carried a mature masculine charm that was hard to ignore.
"What are you doing?" Steven asked from the doorway, his voice smooth and cultured.
His features were striking, with deep-set eyes that drew you in, making it hard to look away.
Nora's heart raced. He was just too handsome!
One more look and she would be blushing uncontrollably.
"I'm drinking water," Nora replied softly, avoiding his gaze.
"Drinking water?" Steven took a long stride toward her.
His cool hand landed on her waist; with a startled yelp, she was pulled into his broad chest. "Steven—"
Steven glanced at her nightgown, noticed she wore nothing underneath, and chuckled lightly. "Dressed like this, trying to seduce me, huh?"
The word "seduce" rolled off his tongue, making her blush deeper as she lowered her long lashes. "Steven, you're drunk,"
He wasn't usually like this.
He rarely smiled and always seemed aloof.
Whenever he came home, he was usually drunk, would crash for the night, and leave; he was always busy, constantly traveling for business and rarely at home.
"Yeah, I am drunk," he murmured. "I want some honey water."
"I'll make it for you." Nora's legs felt weak at his gentle tone.
What was up with him today?
"Steven, why don't you sit on the couch for a bit while I make you some honey water?"
Steven shook his head, a hint of fatigue in his eyes. "No, my head hurts."
"Your head hurts again? Let me take you to the bedroom to lie down. Come on, I'll give you a head massage." Nora helped him toward the master bedroom.
The master bedroom was Steven's; she stayed in the guest room.
Steven had said they would not share a room until they had feelings for each other.
"Steven, lie down." Nora helped the tall man into the room.
Once he was on the bed, Steven's hand—with its defined knuckles, grabbed her, as they both tumbled onto the bed.
Steven ended up on top.
Nora lay beneath him.
The position felt intimate.
Nora's eyes widened as she stared up at Steven's handsome, refined face. He was so good-looking it made her dizzy.
"Steven, what are you doing?" Nora asked, flustered, pushing against his chest, her cheeks flushed.
"What's this?" Steven's hand moved to her waist, pinching lightly.
Nora was mortified!
That was her belly!
Steven kept pinching, trying to lift her nightgown for a better look. "Why do you have a belly? Are you pregnant?"
He was babbling nonsense, half-asleep.
Nora swatted away his restless hand in embarrassment. "That's just my belly."
Did he really think a little extra weight meant she was pregnant?
Was it that noticeable?
It was only a bit of extra weight, okay?
Besides, they hadn't even consummated their marriage—where would a baby come from?
"Steven, let go of me. I'll make you some honey water!" Nora said, realizing the position was too risky.
She needed to break the intimacy.
If anything happened, she feared Steven would accuse her of taking advantage of him the next day!
"Don't you like me?" Steven's gaze bore down on her, his eyes hazy yet deeply beautiful.
Nora couldn't look away.
Did she like him?
She could not say she liked him, but she did not dislike him either.
Steven had given her a home when she had nowhere to go.
"I—" Nora licked her lips, about to speak, but Steven had already let her go and turned onto his side.
He curled up, hugging himself; his profile under his hairline looked both incredibly sexy and incredibly distant.
They said people who slept like that lack a sense of security and were highly defensive.
Nora watched him for a while.
Steven had returned to his usual unapproachable self, his back to her, not saying another word.
Nora's heart twisted. She wanted to reach out to him but didn't dare, as they weren't that close.
Honestly, she didn't even know why Steven had married her.
At that time her grandfather had liver cancer, and Nora had spent all her money on his surgery.
Her grandfather had always been good to her, but her family didn't understand; they thought she was wasting money on a dying man and kicked her out.
She was homeless with only two hundred dollars, dragging a suitcase through the streets at night.
A car stopped, and Steven opened the door, looking like a god as he asked her, "Would you marry me?"
Nora was stunned.
She agreed because she felt she had nothing left to lose.
Looking back, she thought she had been brave; if Steven had been a conman, getting into his car might have cost her life.
Luckily he was not a conman. He brought her to an apartment in Riverside, and the next day they were married.
Steven set three rules.
First: no physical relationship until they loved each other.
Second: don't ask about his whereabouts.
Third: don't pry into his privacy.
Morning came.
There were sounds of breakfast being made, and Steven lay in bed, frowning in irritation. "So noisy!"
Nora was in the kitchen making breakfast.
She liked cooking.
Hearing Steven's voice, she pushed open the bedroom door, her face lighting up with a bright smile. "Sorry, I was making milk, Did I wake you?"
She closed the door.
A moment later the door opened again.
Steven, a light sleeper, had been pushed to the edge by the sound of her footsteps.
He suddenly opened his eyes.
His dark, obsidian-like eyes stared coldly at her.
Nora placed a bowl of hangover soup on the bedside table.
Noticing his gaze, she turned; her pretty face glowing in the morning light.
Her eyes were large, with amber-colored irises— very beautiful.
But Steven's gaze was predatory.
Nora was startled. "Sorry, Steven—I just wanted to bring you some hangover soup. You drank a lot last night, and I was worried you'd have a headache this morning, so I made you some. Remember to drink it."
Steven glanced at the hangover soup on the bedside table.
Every time he came home drunk, Nora would massage his head and make hangover soup.
Her kindness was as bright as the morning sun.
But it felt a bit fake.
Last night Steven had decided he was going to divorce her.

On Christmas Eve, I aborted the CEO's child
On Christmas Eve night, my husband brought his mistress home and demanded that I, his pregnant wife, leave with nothing.
On this day, I lost my husband and also lost the child in my womb...
I Loved You in Silence, You Betrayed Me in French
At my birthday party, my husband whispered to his mistress in French that he missed her. His voice was low, but I heard it all—the black lingerie, the bit about how pregnancy makes you more sensitive. His French clients around us were laughing. He turned and put his arm around me, claiming he was just helping his clients come up with sweet nothings.
He doesn't know I understand every single word. Just like he doesn't know that inside my body, I'm carrying his other surprise. And his mistress—she's pregnant too. Two wombs, one secret.
Confrontation would be too cheap. Tears are worthless. I quietly started cataloging the hidden networks my father left behind, activating the Swiss accounts.
In seven days, Zoey Smith will cease to exist. And what will my husband's reaction be?
He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
When I Disappeared, He Regretted It
The moment the screen lit up, my entire world came crashing down.
The woman on the bed was Calista - that girl who grew up with us since we were kids. And that hand caressing her skin was wearing the wedding ring I had personally put on Matteo's finger.
"I've missed you so much..."
"You drive me crazy, baby..."
Those sweet words I knew so well completely destroyed me.
Everyone said we were the perfect couple, but who knew this marriage was built on nothing but lies?
Since he's so good at acting, I guess it's time I gave him a show of my own. I'm going to make sure everyone sees what this "perfect husband" really is...
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me gone—so his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.
