Introduction
And on the night meant to celebrate her, he chose to break her instead.
Evelyn Hart gave up her career, her dreams, her entire future, just to stand beside Adrian Blackwood, the man she believed she would spend her life with. But in a room full of cameras and applause, he announced his engagement to someone else.
And just like that, her world collapsed.
She walks out with nothing… except the fire he accidentally lit inside her.
Then she meets Damien Cross.
Quiet. Dangerous. A man who doesn’t follow rules, and doesn’t need to.
A man even Adrian fears.
He sees the strength she’s been forced to hide, the rage she’s been swallowing, and he doesn’t look away. Instead, he challenges her to rise.
Now revenge isn’t just an idea.
It’s her rebirth.
But in a city built on secrets and bloodlines, falling for a man like Damien might be the most dangerous choice she ever makes.
Her Flaming Throne is a story of betrayal, rebirth, and a love powerful enough to burn everything that stands in its way.
Chapter 1
Adrian pulled Selena into the narrow service corridor, the door clicking shut behind them. The party’s muffled laughter leaked through, but in here it was just harsh breathing and the rustle of fabric.
He pressed her against the wall, one hand tangled in her hair, the other sliding up her thigh. Selena’s laugh was low, breathless, as she tugged his tie loose.
“She’s out there right now,” Selena whispered against his mouth, “fixing her dress, waiting for you to make tonight about her.”
Adrian’s smile was slow and ugly. “Let her wait. The stupid girl still thinks she matters.”
Selena arched into him, nails digging into his shoulders. “You really believe she’ll stay quiet when you put me on that stage?”
“She’ll stay,” he hissed, fingers bruising her thigh as he gripped her harder. “Five years of me treating her like nothing, and she still lights up when I come home. She’s got nothing without me. No pride, no guts, just a sad little girl who’ll cry in the bathroom tonight and crawl back to bed tomorrow, hoping I’ll touch her again. She always does.”
Selena shivered, half thrill, half aftershock. “You’re awful.”
He straightened his tie, eyes cold. “And she’ll still be there waiting.”
Moments later, clothes smoothed, lipstick fixed, Selena brushed an invisible speck from his lapel.
“Showtime.”
Adrian’s smirk cut sharp. “Can’t wait to watch her face when it finally sinks in.”
They stepped back into the glittering light, cheeks flushed, the air around them thick with fresh contempt.
Evelyn adjusted the sapphire strap of her gown, her fingers trembling just enough to betray her calm. The Blackwood ballroom glittered with gold and glass, every corner dripping with wealth. Chandeliers blazed like captive stars, daring anyone beneath them to shine brighter. Laughter floated through the air, sharp and sweet, like champagne.
Everywhere she looked, eyes watched. Judging. Waiting.
And somewhere beyond the light, someone else was watching too.
Her reflection stared back from the mirrored wall flawless hair, perfect makeup, the sapphire dress Adrian once said made her eyes unforgettable. A masterpiece built for someone else’s gaze. She smiled, but it didn’t reach her eyes.
Maybe tonight he’ll finally see me, not the wife beside him, but the woman who once made him believe in forever.
The thought flickered like a fragile prayer. For weeks, he’d been distant. Polite. Cold. Unreachable. But tonight was their anniversary. Tonight, she told herself, he would remember who she was. Not the accessory. Not the background. The woman he once called everything.
Her heels clicked softly against the marble, a fragile heartbeat echoing through the grand ballroom. Music and laughter wrapped around the guests, a mask of celebration. Evelyn tried to hold herself steady. Tonight was supposed to be theirs.
Then Adrian’s voice cut through the hum of conversation. Smooth. Commanding. Magnetic.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” he began, eyes sweeping the crowd like he owned the room, “thank you for joining me tonight.”
Her chest fluttered. He sounded perfect. Still the man she had married, the man she had loved with everything inside her.
“And tonight,” he continued, eyes briefly locking with hers soft, familiar. For one dangerous heartbeat, hope bloomed in her chest. Then his gaze shifted.
“Someone who has stood beside me, inspired me…”
Her stomach tightened. She lifted her chin. Surely he meant her. Surely.
But then Adrian turned away.
He lifted a hand toward the shadows.
A woman stepped forward.
Selena Moore.
Evelyn froze. The air thickened. Adrian’s former assistant, the woman she had once trusted, once pitied, once smiled at politely in office corridors walked as if the room belonged to her. Silver fabric hugged her curves, hair swept elegantly over one shoulder, lips bold crimson. Every movement radiated confidence. Every head turned; whispers sparked through the crowd.
Adrian’s smile sharpened. “Everyone,” he said, his voice smooth as champagne, “meet Selena Moore, the woman I intend to make my wife.”
The words landed like hammers. Evelyn’s knees weakened. Her chest burned. Five years of devotion, of patience, of sacrifice and this was the reward.
Selena’s hand slid into his, triumphant and possessive. The crowd murmured polite applause. Evelyn’s vision blurred. Music, laughter, light all condensed into the unbearable thud of her heart.
Adrian lifted a small velvet box. Evelyn’s pulse leapt. Finally a symbol of love. A gift for her. A sign she had mattered.
He opened it.
Selena’s wrist.
Polite cheers erupted. Evelyn’s chest tightened, her breath catching. Her life had been rewritten in front of everyone.
Then the screen behind them flickered.
Not private memories. Not shared laughter. Not moments she had thought were theirs. Adrian and Selena, laughing together, glasses clinking, smiling in places Evelyn had only dreamed of. One frame lingered too long his hand brushing hers, the warmth meant for another.
She remembered the same hotel bar, the same champagne flute, the same tie. She had believed him.
And then it happened.
He kissed her. Slow. Possessive. Deliberate. Right there in front of everyone. Flashbulbs popped. Whispers erupted. Evelyn’s stomach dropped. Every eye in the room seemed to burn into her.
Then came the final blow. Margaret Blackwood rose. Her mother-in-law’s diamonds sparkled, her smile slicing through the room.
“We let you wear our name, Evelyn,” Margaret said, her voice smooth and sharp, “but it never fit. Perhaps now we can have a real daughter-in-law, worthy of it.”
Laughter rippled, cruel, polished. Evelyn’s hands clenched. Her world tilted.
But then… a spark ignited inside her.
She stepped forward. Each heel struck the marble with precision, a drumbeat of fury. Conversations faltered. The spotlight found her uninvited, unstoppable.
Adrian’s eyes widened. For the first time in years, he did not control the room.
Her voice was calm. Too calm. Too precise.
“Adrian,” she said, slicing through the silence, “five years ago, I married a man I thought was strong. Tonight, he showed me what weakness really looks like.”
She let her sapphire eyes flick to Margaret, whose painted smile faltered.
“I even gave his mother the daughter she never had. And tonight, she spits on that devotion as easily as her son discards a wife.”
She held up her ring, the last proof of her devotion, and let it fall into Adrian’s untouched champagne flute. The bubbles swallowed it whole. So had he. Tiny bubbles rose, delicate and mocking.
“This,” she said softly, letting the microphone carry her words, “is the only toast you will ever get from me.”
She turned, letting the sapphire train of her gown sweep behind her. Heels struck marble, steady and deliberate. Flashbulbs popped. Phones captured the moment. Whispers spread like wildfire.
Selena’s smirk faltered. Adrian’s composed mask cracked.
But Evelyn did not stop. She did not look back. She walked through the grand doors, leaving stunned silence behind her.
Her chest ached. Her hands shook. Her heart burned.
He thought he could erase me.
But even ashes remember what burned them.
And in the shadows just beyond the hall, a man watched her. Quiet. Keen. Protective. His eyes lingered on her pain, her fire
, the controlled fury radiating from every step.
The game had begun.
And Evelyn? She was ready.

George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

Neither does the memory of Tyler. Leaving her here without a second thought.
I shouldn’t care.
I don’t care.
It’s not my problem if Tyler’s an idiot.
It’s not my business if some spoiled little princess has to walk home in the dark.

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
Oops, Wrong Girl to Bully
My back hit the desk. Pain exploded through my skull.
"Girls like you don't get to dream about guys like Kai." Bella's breath was hot on my face. "You don't get to write pathetic love letters."
She shoved me again. Harder.
"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.
Someone... please...
