Chapter 3 Another meeting
Hazel had passed out, but what she saw was a memory that wasn't hers.
She had a lead, but there was one problem with her vision… she couldn't see their faces or hear a single thing.
Weeks turned to months and it was finally over two months since Hazel left the Nightshade pack.
She was working in a convenience store while trying to figure out what had happened but no matter how hard she tried, she wasn't seeing their faces.
She was working an evening shift when she began feeling nauseated. She rushed to the restroom to vomit and when she was done, she was about to leave when she heard someone speak.
“Leaving so soon?”
She turned sharply, claws pushing out, ready to attack as she was startled to hear a man's voice in the women's restroom.
The man stepped out of the shadows. He looked much older than she was but still very good looking.
“Who are you”?
She asked, immediately sensing that he wasn't a normal human.
“That shouldn't be what bothers you. Your question should be why am I here”.
He said with his hands in his pocket as he eluded a superior aura. She tilted her head a bit, trying to access him.
“You need to leave this town, you'll get attacked soon. You can't risk that…”
He spoke calmly yet urgently and looked at her tummy, causing her to look at him confused.
“Especially not with that child in your tummy”.
Hazel's eyes opened wide as she immediately wrapped her arms around her tummy, surprised by what he said.
'a child'?
She thought and looked at him again.
“Who are you”?
She asked but he smiled.
“You'll find out soon”.
He said and just like that, he was gone.
Hazel could tell that he was different. He was nothing like any supernatural she have ever come in contact with.
His aura was strong and controlling and as soon as he vanished, he left no trace and no scent. She couldn't even remember what he smelt like.
She stopped thinking about him for a split second and bent her head to her tummy.
“Am I truly…”
She was still thinking about it when she heard someone yell from inside the convenience store.
She opened the door a bit to see what was going on and her eyes opened wide.
“Hunters”
She said as she recognized their mark from anywhere.
These werewolves identified as hunters were werewolves that were paid to find anything that breathes and never have they failed.
She immediately remembered the man telling her that they were going to come for her and she instantly believed that she was pregnant.
She closed the door and went straight for the window. Just when she was about to jump down, the door opened up and one of the hunters rushed towards her but she jumped down.
She didn't stay down for long as she began running as fast as she could.
While Hazel was running so fast, Kael was on his way to the convenience store.
She was fast, she was almost like the wind but her scent… it couldn't be mistaken.
He immediately got down from the car and ran after her.
As soon as the hunters saw him, they stopped and moved back.
After Hazel left the pack, Kael was bestowed the honor of the new alpha and after that, two assassination attempts had been placed on his head but he ripped the assassins into pieces. The way he killed was too gruesome even for werewolves and this caused rumors to spread.
He quickly became very feared and untouchable. This was the reason why the hunters retreated as they knew he would kill them if he saw them.
Hazel could feel his scent but she wasn't sure it was him or just a trap to make her stop running so she kept running.
Kael was surprised to see how fast she had gotten. She was ten times faster than she used to be and even with how fast he was, he just couldn't get to her, causing him to soon lose her.
“Hazel”!!
He called out but she was nowhere to be found.
Her scent still lingered around but it was like she had vanished again.
Kael fell to the ground and said a bit weakly.
“Hazel, please… I know you didn't kill them. Let me make things right”.
He said but no matter how he pleaded, she was already far gone.
Hazel didn't even bother going back to the motel to get her things as she had what was most important, the pendant.
Instead, she ran into a forest. She was getting tired but she saw light and knew she was close to a village.
She had gotten so close to the village when she heard someone speak.
“Move one more inch, and I'll kill you”.
As soon as she heard that, she passed out.
Hazel groaned a bit as her head seemed to hurt a bit. Opening her tired eyes, she looked around but her eyes opened more and she sat up immediately.
She looked around, seeing as she wasn't familiar with the surrounding at all.
Just when she was about to stand up, someone walked in.
“You're awake”.
Hazel heard the lady speak and she immediately recognized the voice.
“You're the one who threatened to kill me”.
She said and the lady chuckled as she dropped the kettle she was holding.
“Dona, that's my name”.
She said and Hazel sighed.
“You're pregnant and… in trouble”.
The lady said and Hazel's eyes opened wide.
“Who are you”?
She asked and Dona smiled.
“A witch”.
She said and went ahead to give Hazel a glass of water.
“This is the settlement for the last surviving witches from the east.
You can stay here for a while, as long as your wolf doesn't come out”.
Hazel stayed hidden in the village for five years. With the help of Dona, she practiced her witchcraft and slowly began to see the faces in her vision a bit more clearly
She had given birth to a boy and she named him Lucian.
He was the light to her world and the boy was surprisingly so strong at a very young age.
One day, she was trying to get access into the crystal and when she finally did, she still couldn't see their faces clearly but for the first time, she heard their voices.
She was trying to hear something important when Dona pulled her out of it.
“What are you doing, I was so close”.
She said but soon noticed the fear on Dona's face.
“We have to go, they want to kill you and your son”.
She said and Hazel's eyes opened wide. Without asking any questions, she picked Lucian up and ran for the door but as soon as she opened the door, she stood frozen with Lucian in her arms.
Her eyes were opened wide and her hands held her son tightly as her heart kept beating heavily before she spoke.
“Kael".
