Introduction
Since then, every night has been a nightmare she cannot escape.
By day, she plays the role of the perfect wife, caring for her gravely ill husband whom she barely knows.
By night, she’s haunted by fear, shame, and a faceless man who takes what he wants in the dark.
Trapped in a golden cage of secrets and silence, Helen begins to question everything: her marriage, the man she married, and the terrifying truth that may be hiding just beneath the surface.
Because in this house, nothing is what it seems.
And the greatest betrayal is yet to come.
Chapter 1
I was raped by a man in the marital home I shared with my husband.
My name is Helen Smith. Two weeks ago, I married into the Carter family, the wealthiest household in Seavale, becoming the young mistress of a powerful dynasty.
Another exhausting day had passed, and I only managed to fall asleep late into the night. Ever since entering the Carter household, my spirit had been worn thin—constantly navigating my mother-in-law’s relentless scrutiny and my sister-in-law’s petty schemes, struggling to survive in the cracks. The bitter irony was that this marriage had been my own desperate pursuit, leaving me no choice but to resign myself to fate.
Half-asleep, I felt as though a boulder was pressing down on me, suffocating my breath. Something cool brushed against my lips, and an unfamiliar scent flooded my nostrils.
Frowning in my daze, I instinctively parted my lips, only for something warm and wet to slip inside, swirling possessively.
The taste was faint, laced with a hint of minty sweetness. My sluggish mind couldn’t process it fast enough, and for a moment, I found myself tangled in the sensation.
Then, abruptly, the kiss deepened into something suffocating, and I finally snapped to awareness. I jerked in panic, trying to sit up—only to realize my limbs were pinned down by an unyielding force. My eyes flew open in terror, but a thick palm clamped over them before I could see a thing.
A man. A man had broken into my room and was assaulting me in my sleep!
I opened my mouth to scream, but a hot breath ghosted over my earlobe, followed by a low, mocking whisper.
"Don’t. Do you really want everyone to know a man climbed into the bed of a living widow?"
His voice was smooth, unfamiliar—and it sent chills down my spine. "Who are you?" I trembled. "What do you want?"
"What do I want?" He chuckled darkly, pinning my wrists as his teeth grazed the hollow of my neck. "What else but you?"
Terror seized me. I tried to wrench away.
"Let me go! This is the Carter family—do you have a death wish?"
A silken scarf wound around my eyes, blinding me. His hand muffled my mouth as his weight pressed me deeper into the mattress, his strength overwhelming. His fingers traced my skin, and though I couldn’t see, I felt his dominance—his complete control. A cold rush of air brushed my body, and then fabric was shoved between my lips, silencing me.
Who is he?! How did he get in?! What does he want?!
No! Help! Let me go!
I tried to scream, but the cloth stuffed in my mouth muffled my cries into desperate whimpers. I thrashed with all my strength, but it was useless—he overpowered me effortlessly, forcing my legs apart.
No, no! Tears of shame streamed down my face as I fought back, only for my wrists to be bound tightly. Then, he flipped me over.
Help…! It hurts!
He forced himself inside me, the searing pain wrenching a sob from my throat. I trembled, whimpering in terror, struggling helplessly.
No! Let me go!
"Stop moving!" the man growled, biting my shoulder in warning. "You want everyone to see the Carter family’s young mistress getting raped? Huh? I’ve got it all on camera. Scream, and I’ll ruin you."
With that, his movements grew even more brutal.
Please, stop…! Someone, help me!
How? How could this be happening? I shook violently, tears soaking my face, but my muffled cries only seemed to excite him further. He drove into me harder, as if unleashing some twisted rage, tormenting me, humiliating me.
I was raped.
In the Carter family’s mansion—the wealthiest household in the city. In the very bedroom I shared with my husband.
How could this happen? Please, let me go…
The violation seemed endless. I cried until my voice gave out, but in the end, the pain was too much. Darkness swallowed me whole.

Clara thinks she is too broken to be loved.
Adrian thinks his future is already over.

A tough exterior with a soft heart x A soft exterior with a strong heart
✦ ✦ ✦
The first half is set in high school, and the second half is set during their college years. Hope you enjoy the journey!
This is a slow-paced story, focused more on emotions, healing, and the small moments in life rather than intense action or dramatic twists.
If you find any mistakes while reading, please feel free to leave a comment. I’ll be happy to correct them.
I hope ordinary Clara, ordinary Adrian, and all of us ordinary people can find the happiness we deserve.
Offside Temptation
Ethan Ryder was a disaster waiting to happen. Hot-headed, reckless, and constantly one bad decision away from ruining his career. I was supposed to hate him. Instead, I memorized him. I learned exactly how to push his buttons on the ice just to see the fire in his eyes.
When he grabbed my jersey in that locker room and kissed me in front of twenty cameras, it wasn't a mistake. It was the moment the line between hatred and obsession finally snapped. The media called it a scandal. They called us a divorced couple. But they didn't see the way Ethan trembled when I cornered him in the hallway afterward.
"You're staring again," he whispered, his back hitting the wall.
"You're still here," I replied calmly, stepping close enough to feel his erratic pulse.
He thought I was cold. He thought I was controlled. He didn't realize that every time he looked at me, I was fighting the urge to completely destroy the distance between us.
Now, the league is forcing us to live together, train together, and smile for the cameras to fix our public image. But the more time we spend alone in my apartment, the harder it is to pretend I just want to play hockey...

Why does being near him make my skin feel too tight, like I’m wearing a sweater two sizes too small?
It’s just newness, I tell myself firmly.

I’m not going to let one cold stare undo that.

I hate girls like her.
Entitled.
Delicate.
And still—
Still.
The image of her standing in the doorway, clutching her cardigan tighter around her narrow shoulders, trying to smile through the awkwardness, won’t leave me.
Neither does the memory of Tyler. Leaving her here without a second thought.
I shouldn’t care.
I don’t care.
It’s not my problem if Tyler’s an idiot.
It’s not my business if some spoiled little princess has to walk home in the dark.
I’m not here to rescue anyone.
Especially not her.
Especially not someone like her.
She’s not my problem.
And I’ll make damn sure she never becomes one.
But when my eyes fell on her lips, I wanted her to be mine.

Iron And Glamour Just Don't Mix
Well… Sometimes you just might turn out to be right.
It turns out, the fae stole my little brother. In his place? A pixie with boundary issues and a talent for home repairs.
I’ve spent my life taking care of everyone else. So when my baby brother is taken, I don’t hesitate. I walk straight into a faerie mansion and make a bargain with its infuriatingly charming master.
Kie is everything you’d expect from a dangerous fae, beautiful, political, and entirely too amused by me. Power wrapped in a smirk. Sensual, mischievous, and far too aware of the effect he has on people. He agrees to help me find my brother.
For a price.
Now I’m bound by a faerie bargain and navigating a world of glamour, manipulation, and ancient rules I definitely should have learned sooner, enchanted forests, political games, magical contracts, and a fae lord who treats seduction like a perfectly reasonable negotiation tactic.
Iron is how I keep people out.
Glamour is how he draws them in.
And apparently, they just don’t mix.

Old wounds reopen, grief masquerades as rage, and love refuses to stay buried. As parenthood binds them together and the past demands accountability, Emily and Ryan must face the question neither of them is ready to answer: is broken trust the end of their story… or the beginning of a love forged through loss, forgiveness, and brutal honesty?

They consume you.
And when the illusion shatters, there’s always something left behind.
