Introduction

“I want to leave.” Kyla snapped as she jumped off his bed.

“Name– Kyla Grey, Poor, orphaned, single,” Kendrick growled. “You are not going anywhere, Kyla Grey… you are homeless.”

“Are you stalking me? How did you know so much?”

Kendrick smirked as he got up and pranced towards her slowly, his pace was slow and sturdy. Kyla stepped back, gulping. Her eyes locked on him.

Kendrick overshadowed her as he placed his hand on the wall above her head. “I have my ways, Kyla Grey.”

Her eyes dimmed as anger brewed in her chest. “Why are you doing this? What… What do you want from me?!”

“You.” he cut in with a breath, he lifted her chin with his free hand making her look at him squarely. “I want you, little human.”

Orphaned, worn-out, broken, Kyla was thrown to the streets to survive on her own. She gathered her wits and was starting to make sense of her life until she strayed into a werewolf mating ceremony.

Kendrick Wolfin, Alpha of Fanglaw pack, who had been waiting for a mate was shocked to find out his mate was human.

He took her anyway, shook her world, broke the rules, but Kyla was not ready to be controlled again.

She chose her own fate, set her own standards that nature was forced to follow.

But would Kendrick accept her rules?

And if he did, would the world accept them together?

Chapter 1

“How dare you look at my husband? Get out of my house… You are no longer welcome, Kyla Grey,” The middle-aged woman pushed Kyla out of the house. She threw a tied cloth at Kyla, who caught it mid air.

As she caught it, the knot holding it together went loose, and the ragged-looking dresses in it scattered on the floor around her, leaving just the cloth in her hand.

Sweat dripped from Kyla’s face, her brows knotted into a deeper frown, as she scanned her little and only possession in the world on the dirty floor, her shoulders slumped as she let the cloth in her hand drop to the ground.

Kyla raised her gaze to meet her aunt, Margaret glaring at her anxiously, the next second, Margaret slammed the door and Kyla flinched and covered her ears with her hand as the walls shook because of the sound of the metal door.

“You can keep your house,” Kyla cursed as she licked her lips and dropped down to pick her clothes. “I don’t like it here anyway.”

She tied up her clothes and picked them up and carried them under her armpit, before she turned back and faced the door. She blinked as her eyes burned. Tears had formed in her eyes as she recalled what had caused this ousting.

Orphaned at a young age, Kyla had to stay with her Aunt, Margaret, and her family, her husband and daughter. She lived happily with the family until they sold the properties left by her parents and squandered her money and inheritance.

The moment the money was finished, Kyla became a burden to them. They stopped her schooling at grade twelve, while Fabulous, their daughter, had completed her education and is currently a renowned model, but Kyla had to stay home and do chores all day.

“Why the hell am I crying?” Kyla said as she rolled her eyes, she faked a laugh and wiped her face with the back of her hand. “I am finally free.”

She climbed down the stairs, as she sniffed softly, her eyes puffy. “Is it my fault her husband is an horny old man?”

Kyla wiped away the tears rolling down my cheeks, she reached down the stairs and bumped into someone, the tied cloth containing her dresses fell. “Oh,” she groaned as she bent to pick it.

As she placed her hand on the cloth, a shiny pointed heel stepped on her hand and she gritted her teeth in pain as she tried to pull her hand away, but the shoe only pressed harder.

“Don’t you have eyes?” a sweet voice laced with bitterness resounded in Kyla’s ears and she pressed her eyes shut as her stomach churned. She knew who it was.

“Fabulous,” she growled through gritted teeth as she raised her head to see her cousin. She looked astonishing. Her dress was hanging mid-thigh, she wore shiny diamonds on her neck. As she crossed her arms over her chest, the diamond adorning her wrist and her finger came to view.

“Take your shoe out of my hand, Fab,” Kyla growled out through gritted teeth, she was trying to suppress the pain, she would never want Fabulous to see her express her pain, she would only torment her even more like she had done since childhood.

“Why should I?” Fabulous asked, she wore a smirk on her perfect looking face. “That is where you belong, Kyla… Oh boy, how glad am I to see you like this,” Fabulous finished with a chuckle.

Kyla swallowed. She took a deep breath and shook her head at Fabulous. “Stop this game now… remove your feet so that I can finally leave here.”

Fabulous’ jaw dropped in shock and Kyla raised a brow at her. Kyla was surprised that Fabulous didn’t know that her mum had thrown her out.

“Oh… did mum throw you out of the house?” Fabulous asked mockingly and Kyla rolled her eyes at her, it was now obvious she was throwing an act.

“As if you didn’t know.”

Fabulous threw her head back as she laughed like an evil old witch. Kyla squinted at her from the ground, she tried to pull her hand out, but Fabulous only pressed harder, making her wince in pain, she bit her bottom lip to hold in the pain.

Kyla had a smaller build than Fabulous, she had so little strength because she was malnourished as a child.

“What did you do to make my mother throw you out?”

Kyla pressed her lips into a thin line as memories of those nights flooded into her mind. How her Aunt’s husband would come to her room and make her have her bath in front of him, she was threatened with death. She was so scared she couldn’t talk, her Aunt hated her anyway.

This evening, her uncle was so pressed that he almost raped her in her room, she pushed him away and he hit his head on the wall, the uncle cried out and when her aunt came, Kyla tried to tell the truth.

Margaret slapped her on the face after hearing Kyla say what had happened. Her husband had already told her before that Kyla had tried to seduce him a couple of times, which was a lie. Her Uncle asked that Margaret throw her out of the house and she did just that, forgetting they shared the same blood.

A resounding slap on Kyla’s cheek brought her back from her line of thought and she shone her eyes as she stared at Fabulous in disbelief. “Why?” she said through bleeding lips as tears dropped down her eyes.

“How dare you try to seduce my father?! You… ugly little bitch!!” Fabulous looked furious now and it made Kyla swallow down everything else she had to say.

She hadn’t eaten anything all day except the leftovers she scraped off the plates in the kitchen. The heel piercing into the back of her hand was already draining her of all the strength she had.

“Fabulous, you know I would never… I mean,” she swallowed as she drew her breath and wiped the blood off her lips with her other free hand. “I never had a boyfriend, even when you did…”

“What are you saying? That you are better than me?” Fabulous yelled at Kyla. “If you were better, why were you in my father’s bed, cheap slut.”

Kyla closed her eyes as her chest stung. She didn’t know which was more painful, the words, the slap, or the heel poking in her hand.

“Fabulous!!” A voice came from behind them and Fabulous flinched as she took her leg off Kyla’s hand and she stepped back in fear.

Kyla balled up her fist, the back of her hand was bleeding, but instead of her to be relieved that she was free now. She ground her jaw as she boiled in anger, her eyes narrowed as she stared into space, stiff.
