Chapter 1
Money
Grace
Today was my 30th birthday. I was divorced, mateless, a survivor of infidelity and broke.
If there was a woman in the werewolf or lycan community who had it worse than me, Iâd like to meet her. Maybe we could split the cost of this drink that wasnât doing anything for the sorrow in my heart or the direness of my situation.
The drink was a fruity cocktail heavy on the whiskey and worth a whole pack of the cheapest diapers and probably some applesauce. I would have rather bought either of those things than this drink. I would have rather been counting whatever change was hiding under the seats of my car to buy another container of formula than be here. But, Eason, my brother, had shoved a wad of cash in my hands, forced me into this dress that hugged every curve of me and probably cost too much, did my hair and said I wasnât allowed to come home tonight without at least one drink in my system or before midnight.
Iâd prefer it if you didnât come home at all, heâd said with a wink. Go enjoy your freedom before getting into the swing of things.
It had taken everything in me not to tell him that getting a divorce when I was flat broke wasnât freedom. I still didnât know how I was going to tell him. A part of me hoped that I wouldnât have to and that the financial crisis I was dreading was just in my head. I glanced up at the clock and winced. It wasnât even my daughterâs bedtime yet. I clenched my jaw and sipped my drink at the thought of Cecil. What was I going to tell her when I couldnât get her Christmas presents like usual? What would I tell Richard when he was old enough to do anything but cry, eat, and sleep?
Daddy cheated on mommy and went off to be happy with his fated mate. Thatâs why weâre broke.
I resisted the urge to toss back my drink and disappear into the haze of alcohol. I was only ordering one drink then hiding out somewhere in the city before going home and pretending like Iâd partied my heart out.
Usually, Iâd be in the kitchen serving up the feast Iâd ordered for the Harvest Moon festival for the family and getting ready to open presents with Cecil, Richard, and Eason. This year, Cecil had made me a card. Richard drooled all over my apron. I cooked using a lot of simple recipes and whatever we had in the cabinet. I had tried to smile from the moment that the final divorce papers had arrive, but it was empty.
What was there to celebrate?
I took another drink as my eyes burned and checked the clock again. Barely a minute had passed. I finished the last of the drink, wanting to keep the rest of the cash. It was all the money I had to my name after the divorce had wiped out what little savings Iâd still had from before we were married, and I wouldnât have access to the pack accounts until early next week. Though I was almost certain that Devin, my ex-husband, had used all her could to cover his portion of the divorce. He had left our marriage with nothing that hadnât belonged to him before, and left me with our two children and a broken heart.
Where had it all gone wrong?
It felt as though one day we had been happy, and he was the one who would always stand by my side. The next, I was hear nursing a drink and listening to the Lavender Packâs rugby team getting crushed by the Redwood Clanâs team.
âYou want another one?â The bartender asked nodding at my empty glass.
I shook my head. âNo, but thank you.â
He nodded. âLet me know if you want anything else.â
He drifted away as another went up with a loud angry sound when the scoreboard went up another point in the favor of Redwood.
âWhy do they even bother?â Someone nearby asked. âNo werewolf team has ever beat a lycan team.â
âThe moneyâs in the tickets. You know those lycans are eating this shit up. Someone has to take one for the werewolf world.â
âAt least they get paid for it.â
The men burst into laughter. I almost sneered as a lycan in a red jersey barreled into a werewolf in a lavender jersey, tackling them to the ground and probably breaking something. Lycans had always been stronger than werewolves, but we cooperated for the most part for both of our sakes. The rest of the world feared us both, so it was in our interest to band together as much as possible. There was still lingering tension between our communities and it was usually the most obvious at sporting events.
I had thought my marriage to Devin would be the start of a new age. A lycan leading a werewolf pack? It was something Eason said would start the path to better lycan and werewolf cooperation. I remembered reeling him back from making it a big deal when he we got married. It didnât take much convincing once Eason met Devin, but he said nothing at the time.
I almost wished he had. I didnât know if I would trade my two children for the peace of mind of never letting Devin into my life or into my fatherâs pack, but I would have to make peace with my decisions and all the fall out to come.
I cringed at the thought of what would happen when people found out about our divorce. After five years of marriage and saying everything was fine, Iâd be the laughing stock of the entire werewolf community, and it was only a matter of time.
I knew Devin well enough: hotheaded, rash, and insensitive. He was probably going to make some big showing about their relationship. A press conference or news announcement that would lead to reporters streaming to Mooncrest to get a snapshot of my children, grieving our broken family and me. The tabloids would eat it up, and there would probably be some group of lycans in a bar just like this laughing at my pain.
I sighed again and wondered what my father would say seeing me now. Heâd been the former alpha and had handed the seat to me a year after I had started the pharmaceutical program at Werewolf Elite Academy. I had been twenty-five years old, grieving and determined when Iâd met Devin. He was nineteen at the time and there as an exchange student for his business, program.
He pursued me relentlessly. I remembered being annoyed at first then flattered that heâd taken such an interest in me. There had been something about him that had drawn me in. They said that alpha lycan oozed a natural sex appeal, but I had never thought I was susceptible to it. Iâd met alpha lycans before. They were different from alpha werewolves, but a man who was full of himself was the same no matter the species.
I had thought Devin was different. Despite not being mates, I believed I had found true love as being with him had felt like my grief wasnât crushing me. I was happy. He made me happy. Our age difference was inconsequential. Werewolves didnât live extraordinarily long lives. In some ways, I was already middle aged and life was too short to pass up a real shot at love.
He told me he would take care of anything. He told me that weâd be happy together for the rest of my life. He told me he loved me.
âStupid,â I grumbled, shaking my head as I let my gaze drift into the distance. Stupid to believe him. Stupid to let myself be blinded by my emotions.
I scowled thinking about it all and hating it more by the second. Every second of our relationship had been a lie. The sounds of happy people in the bar faded away as I thought back to all the mistakes I made starting with giving in to Devinâs advances in the first place. My phone buzzed in my clutch. I opened it and winced seeing the message from my bank telling me that the latest transaction from my bank had been refused due to insufficient funds.
It was the payment to my maxed out credit card. Great. Another bill to add to the stack. I knew the pack was strained for money, the cityâs economy wasnât doing so well and my packâs company, Wolfe Medical wasnât much better. I didnât know how bad. I wouldnât know until I got into the office Monday, but I wasnât looking forward to it.
What I would do for at least a momentâs distraction.
âExcuse me.â A rich, deep voice said from behind me. I could almost feel the heat from the manâs body on my bare back. âIs this seat taken?â

On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

The Pack: Rule Number 1 - No Mates
"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."

Invisible To Her Bully
Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been gloryâblood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend meâhe sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrenderâdive into the waves and never surfaceâbut the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precisionâbecoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding strangerâand my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me payâand take back everything that was stolen from me.
I Slapped My FiancĂ©âThen Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancĂ© nowâbillionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didnât mind. Iâd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. Thatâs when it hit meâhe didnât love me. He didnât even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasnât even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disasterâmy parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. Iâd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision Iâd ever made.
Because my one-night stand isnât just some random guy. Heâs richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, heâs not letting me go.
The Forbidden Throb
Mine changed in the time it took to open a door.
Behind it: my fiancé Nicholas with another woman.
Three months until our wedding. Three seconds to watch it all burn.
I should have run. Should have screamed. Should have done anything except stand there like a fool.
Instead, I heard the devil himself whisper in my ear:
"If you're willing, I could marry you."
Daniel. The brother I was warned about. The one who made Nicholas look like a choir boy.
He leaned against the wall, watching my world implode.
My pulse thundered. "What?"
"You heard me." His eyes burned into mine. "Marry me, Emma."
But as I stared into those magnetic eyes, I realized something terrifying:
I wanted to say yes to him.
Game on.
