Chapter 1
I thought I could keep my marriage secret a little longer.
Then my son got sick.
My wife brought him to Mercer Group, was handed a fake suspension notice, and heard my assistant call our child a bastard.
Ten minutes later, she placed our feverish son on my mother's desk.
"Meet your grandson."

For three years, I had a wife, a son, and the kind of warm, ordinary life people in my family were not supposed to want.
My mother did not know.
That was the problem.
Victoria Mercer, chairwoman of Mercer Group, had planned my life before I learned to tie a tie. Boarding school. Business school. Two years abroad to look expensive. A tidy return to headquarters. A polished strategic marriage to Olivia Hart, whose family owned half the shipping terminals on the East Coast.
My actual life had taken a detour.
I came home early, fell in love with Claire Bennett from the design department, married her at city hall on a rainy Tuesday, and produced a son who liked bananas, trucks, and sleeping sideways across my ribs.
His name was Nicholas Mercer.
At home, we called him Nicky.
At home, I was not the heir of Mercer Group. I was the man who warmed milk at 2:00 a.m., lost arguments with a toddler over socks, and got locked out of my own bedroom when Claire decided my apology was not sincere enough.
It was a good life.
It was also built on three years of cowardice.
I kept telling Claire I would tell my mother soon.
Soon meant after the next quarterly review. Then after the factory acquisition. Then after my mother's blood pressure settled. Then after Nicky was a little older. Nicky learned to say "Daddy" before I learned to say "Mom, I got married."
Claire helped me lie.
She edited photos so it looked as if I was still attending seminars overseas. She stood outside video calls holding Nicky's mouth shut with a cookie while I sat in front of a bookshelf and told my mother the program in London was demanding. She mailed my mother gifts under my name and listened to me promise, again and again, that I only needed a little more time.
The truth was simple.
I loved Claire.
I loved our son.
I was also terrified of my mother.
People outside the family called Victoria Mercer elegant. People inside the company called her decisive. I called her Mom, which was shorter than saying the woman who could make a room of vice presidents sit straighter by putting down a coffee cup.
Claire had met her once from a distance, at the annual gala, while wearing a black dress I had picked because I thought it looked modest and therefore safe. My mother had glanced past her without recognition.
"She's going to hate me," Claire said that night.
"No," I said, because I was an idiot. "She'll hate me first."
"That is not the comfort you think it is."
She was right.
Claire was usually right. That had not stopped me from being wrong for three years.
On the morning my secret life exploded, I was in a conference room two counties away, watching a supplier explain why a delayed shipment was technically everyone's fault and therefore no one's fault. My phone sat face down beside my legal pad.
It vibrated once.
Then again.
Then again.
I glanced at the screen under the table.
Claire.
Six missed calls.
Before I could excuse myself, a text appeared.
Nicky has a fever. 103.1. Urgent care is slammed. Your phone is off in spirit if not in fact. I brought him to work.
My stomach dropped.
Then another message arrived.
Your new executive assistant just served me an unpaid suspension notice.
I stood so fast my chair hit the wall.
Across the table, the supplier stopped mid-sentence.
"Mr. Mercer?" my legal director asked.
I was already grabbing my coat.
The final message came in as I reached the door.
He called your son a bastard.
For three years, I had imagined every possible version of my mother's anger. I had pictured shouting, silence, lawyers, disinheritance, family dinners conducted like hostage negotiations.
I had not pictured Claire walking into Mercer Group with our feverish son on her hip and a junior assistant handing her a suspension memo.
That was on me.
Every stupid, sweating inch of it.
I called Claire.
No answer.
I called again.
No answer.
Then my mother's number lit up my screen.
I considered, for half a second, throwing the phone into traffic.
That was also cowardice.
I answered.
"Ethan," my mother said.
Her voice was calm.
That was how I knew I was dead.
"Mom."
"There is a woman in my office."
My driver opened the back door. I got in and nearly slammed my knee into the seat.
"Listen, I can explain."
"She brought a child."
"I can also explain that."
"She says the child is my grandson."
The city outside the window turned bright and sharp.
"He is," I said.
There was a pause.
One breath.
Two.
"You have forty minutes," Victoria Mercer said. "If you are not in my office by then, I will choose which version of you to bury first: my son, or the idiot who thought I would not find out."
The call ended.
My driver looked at me in the mirror.
"Headquarters?" he asked.
"Fast," I said. "Legally fast. Mostly legally fast."

The Rejected Luna’s Rise
Luna Ariana Volkstane slid the formal rejection request across the table. "Let's end this bond. It's better for you, me, and your first love."
He just smirked. "You want me to reject you? You think you can break our bond that easily?"
So she did. Ariana cut ties with him completely, poured herself into her career, and rose to global fame as a legendary healer, her knowledge of rare herbs, wolf anatomy, and ancient magic sought after across continents.
The powerful suitors lined up. The Alpha of an overseas empire whispered, "Ariana, hurry up and perform the severing ritual. I can't wait to claim you." A powerful pack leader vowed, "I'll be there with you the day you break the bond." A legendary wolf attorney promised, "I'll handle your rejection case with the pack council myself."
Ariana just rubbed her temples. It's not that she didn't want the split, she wanted it more than anything, it's just that the Alpha she was mated to refused to let go.
Finally, she announced, "Whoever can officially get me rejected, I'll put you at the head table of my bond-breaking celebration."
Not long after, Alpha Damian was served the official rejection request right in the middle of an emergency pack council meeting. That same afternoon, he was attacked by rogues at the gates of his own territory.
When Ariana showed up at the pack infirmary with healing herbs, she repeated calmly, "Let's sever the mate bond. It's better for you, me, and everyone else."
But the cold, untouchable Alpha pulled her into his arms, his eyes blood-red with fury. "You want me to reject you? Over my dead body."
Iron And Glamour Just Don't Mix
Well… Sometimes you just might turn out to be right.
It turns out, the fae stole my little brother. In his place? A pixie with boundary issues and a talent for home repairs.
I’ve spent my life taking care of everyone else. So when my baby brother is taken, I don’t hesitate. I walk straight into a faerie mansion and make a bargain with its infuriatingly charming master.
Kie is everything you’d expect from a dangerous fae, beautiful, political, and entirely too amused by me. Power wrapped in a smirk. Sensual, mischievous, and far too aware of the effect he has on people. He agrees to help me find my brother.
For a price.
Now I’m bound by a faerie bargain and navigating a world of glamour, manipulation, and ancient rules I definitely should have learned sooner, enchanted forests, political games, magical contracts, and a fae lord who treats seduction like a perfectly reasonable negotiation tactic.
Iron is how I keep people out.
Glamour is how he draws them in.
And apparently, they just don’t mix.
