I didn't look at Connor again. I turned and left.

Hurried footsteps sounded behind me. Dimly, I heard someone shouting angrily.

“Hey! A young guy like you, fighting me for stuff in the trash? Have you got no shame?”

I was about to turn around when my phone buzzed again.

“Nora, I'm back.”...
