Chapter 7

"What's all this noise about?"

The attending physician, Kai Rodriguez, pushed the door open. Seeing the mess all over the floor, he warned with clear displeasure, "This is a hospital. If you want to fight, go outside! The patient needs rest!"

Aiden still cared about his reputation. When he saw Kai arrive, he snorted coldly and released his grip on Victoria.

The next second, Victoria broke free and rushed to the bedside, holding Yara tightly in her arms.

No one would hurt Yara!

No one!

Kai checked Yara's vital signs. After confirming everything was okay, he gave Aiden a cold look. "Sir, this child can't handle any more stress!"

Aiden straightened his somewhat disheveled suit, his eyes darkly sweeping over Victoria and her daughter. In the end, he said nothing more and pulled Bianca aside.

The hospital room finally quieted down.

Only Victoria's breathing could be heard.

The attending physician walked out of the room, holding the lab results that had just come out, his hands trembling slightly.

He walked to the end of the corridor, away from the crowd, and dialed a number.

The phone was answered after two rings. An elderly but authoritative voice came through. "Who is this?"

"Mrs. Windsor, it's me."

Kai swallowed and lowered his voice. "There's something I think I must report to you."

"Go ahead."

"The hospital admitted a little girl, five years old. This child has an extremely rare blood type - RH negative AB..."

Kai paused, his voice dropping even lower. "And she's severely allergic to mangoes. Even her current condition is the same as the Windsor family's hereditary medical history!"

Edward's mother, Rhea Miller, fell silent for a long time.

The Windsor family had indeed seen cases of congenital kidney development problems in children over the past few generations, so she was wondering if it could really be such a coincidence - could this child be related to the Windsor family?

Kai thought the call had been disconnected when he finally heard the voice on the other end. "Who are the child's parents?"

"The child is called Victoria Spencer. She appears to be a single mother."

Victoria Spencer.

Rhea searched her memory for this name. It seemed somewhat familiar, but she couldn't remember where she'd heard it.

"I see." Rhea paused. "Are you saying this child is Edward's? How could there be such a coincidence in this world? The samples left back then were destroyed long ago. Where would a child come from?"

Rumor had it that Edward wasn't interested in women. Rhea worried the Windsor family would have no heirs, so she had forced Edward to leave samples at a sperm bank early on.

But she clearly remembered that the samples had been destroyed by Edward himself.

"But this little child looks..." Kai recalled that brief glimpse. "She's practically carved from the same mold as Mr. Windsor! Too similar! I didn't dare not tell you!"

"There are plenty of people trying to latch onto our family."

Rhea's tone was disdainful, yet carried a hint of hesitation. "But since you've mentioned it, keep an eye on things. Better to be wrong than to miss it. If she really is Windsor family blood, having her out there would be a disgrace to the Windsor family!"

"Yes, I understand!" Hanging up the phone, Kai wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and looked back toward the hospital room.

If she really was a Windsor family child, things were about to change.

Inside the hospital room.

Aiden didn't leave right away.

He looked at the weak Yara on the bed, his eyes flickering.

This was his daughter.

Though she came through IVF, she still carried his blood.

And since Bianca didn't want children for now, if he could take Yara...

With this thought, Aiden changed his expression and stepped forward, his voice unusually gentle. "Yara, Daddy was just too worried earlier. Did I scare you?"

Victoria tensed up, watching him warily. "Stay away from her!"

"I'm her father. What could I do?"

Aiden ignored Victoria, bending down to look at Yara, coaxing her. "Yara, come with Daddy, okay? Daddy has a big mansion, lots and lots of toys, and nannies to take care of you. Your mom is useless now, can't even take care of herself. If you stay with her, you'll only suffer."

A big mansion.

Toys.

For a five-year-old child, these temptations were huge.

Bianca stood to the side. Though very unhappy with Aiden's behavior, her nails digging into her flesh, she still maintained a fake smile on her face.

Victoria trembled with anger. Just as she was about to speak, Yara, in her arms moved.

Yara turned her head, burying her face in Victoria's embrace, her voice muffled. "I don't want to."

"What did you say?" Aiden's expression froze.

Yara turned her head, her big eyes full of rejection. "I said I don't want to! Having Mommy is enough! You're not my daddy, you're a bad person!"

Bad person!

These two words hit Aiden squarely in the face.

Victoria's eyes welled up as she held Yara tighter.

This was her daughter!

All her love hadn't been wasted!

The fake smile on Aiden's face completely collapsed, instantly darkening. "Who are you calling a bad person? I'm your real father! Without me, you wouldn't exist!"

"Aiden..." Bianca walked up at just the right moment, taking Aiden's arm, looking pained. "Look at this. How has Victoria been teaching the child? Actually teaching a child to hate her own father... This is too scary."

She sighed, looking at Victoria. "Victoria, even though you hate us, the child is innocent. How can you instill your hatred of Aiden into the child?"

"Shut up!" Victoria spoke with red eyes. "Bianca, stop pretending to be nice! You're just afraid Yara will come back and steal your attention, aren't you? Don't worry, I don't want your trash, and my daughter doesn't want it either!"

Bianca, her thoughts exposed, paled, then looked at Aiden with a wronged expression.

Aiden indeed flew into a rage. "Victoria! You're pushing your luck!"

He pointed at Victoria's nose. "I was going to help you out for old times' sake, but since you're so ungrateful, then take your burden and go die!"

"Without my money, let's see how you treat Yara!"

"When the time comes, don't come begging me on your knees!"

Victoria straightened her back, gritting her teeth, fighting back word by word. "Aiden, don't worry. Even if I have to sell my blood, sell my kidney, I will never ask you for a single cent! Get out! Take your woman and get out!"

"Good! Very good!"

Aiden laughed in anger, pulling Bianca as he turned to leave. "Let's go! Let her figure it out herself! I want to see how long she can keep up this tough act without me!"

Just as Aiden walked out of the hospital room, the anger still on his face, Bianca pressed against him softly.

She spoke suggestively in a gentle voice, "Aiden, I remember Yara wasn't like this before. Is it because Victoria has been too busy lately and hasn't been teaching her properly? If this continues, I'm really worried about Yara's personality..."

She left her sentence half-finished, deliberately hesitant, looking completely concerned for Yara's sake.

Hearing this, Aiden sneered, "That woman, Victoria, treating you like that today, I absolutely won't let her get away with it!"

Thinking of the humiliation he suffered in the hospital room, his anger flared even more.

"I think Victoria has had it too good for too long and doesn't know her place anymore."

His face was full of gloom, only softening when he looked at Bianca. "Don't worry, I'll definitely get revenge for you!"
