Adam pulled back more to look at his wife's face with a dumbfounded expression.
"What?"
"I want in Adam. I want to be a part of this investigation." She repeated.

When ex- criminal profiler, Collette Woods, comes across the case file that was on her husband's desk, she was the first one to be able to find a lead.
But that wasn't one of her usual cases as that lead to home and the resurfacing of nightmares Collette tried so hard to bury.
When the killer turns out to be the one who killed her father seventeen years ago and has started killing again now, she knows that the killer is someone with a purpose and it was up to her, her husband being the lead detective, and his team to stop the killings, even though the killer saved her life seventeen years ago.
A ghost, an ex-profiler with a heavy past, a homocide detective and a team. How would things play out?
Chapter 1
I'm an oblivion.
A lost remembrance.
Locked away in a place where no man would dare live. Where no light rays could be seen and nothing seems to be alive.
I'm a lost soul. A memory long forgotten. But more importantly, I'm a curse.
A curse they're bound to accept.
Swimming around in the very back. Hiding. Waiting. And it's about time I came back to life.
I puffed out air as I waited patiently behind a tree. Hiding in the shadows as I concentrated on my prey. My heart bumped blood at a fastened pace, my body preparing itself in anticipation of what to come.
This wasn't my first time, yet every time is as exciting and thrilling as the first. The adrenaline rushed through my vessels, pumping me with electricity like an engine coming to life and I rubbed my hands together as I waited.
My eyes remained fixated on the house in front of me. Its lights dim and its air dead. It felt like déjà vu. The scenery was always the same.
And then, the all too familiar screams started. My body was itching to make a move. To do something to stop those screams but my logical side kept me at bay for if I made a single small mistake, it will all be over and I would fail my mission.
So I shut my eyes and tried my best to deafen out the screams and pleas of help so that I don't lose control. And as soon they came, they stopped. Or at least I think this time was shorter.
My eyes opened immediately as the screams stopped and only then did I allow my anger to supply me with the determination and strength that I needed.
I watched with hawk eyes as he opened his house door, leaving behind a hopeless, dark, scary environment. I straightened up my posture like a cheetah readying itself to attack.
I watched as the perpetrator in question walked down the paved road towards his truck, and I knew that it was my time to shine.
With careful steps, I paced towards him from behind and once he opened his car door, my cloth covered hand went straight to his face covering his mouth and nose effectively.
He struggled against my hold but these puny creature had nothing to compete with against me. Their fragile bodies and lack of any muscle strength made my job easier every time and I knew that the chloroform was having its effect when his struggles started dying out, his body falling limp in front of me. I quickly pushed him inside the back seat of the trunk before anyone saw us. It was to my advantage that these men chose to move out from their homes to more secluded areas.
Sinners.
Their stupidity lead them to me.
As stealthily as I entered, I left. I've been doing this for quite some time know, making me an expert in my field. But unlike the others, I had a cause. A purpose. And I executed efficiently.
