Chapter 6 New School

THE FIFTH ELEMENT 🌊🔥🌪️⛰️☯️

~Cassie's POV ~

‘Scientifically and logically, this was impossible,’ I thought to myself.

I kept staring at the tree in amazement.

“As much as I would love for us to stay out here and gawk at my creation, we really have to get you settled in. I don’t want my mom to get mad, and besides, people are starting to stare at us,” Madeline told me.

I was finally able to tear my eyes away from the tree and face her.

“Okay. Sure. But you have to tell me more about this school. You have to tell me everything,” I pressed, and she smiled.

“It would be my absolute pleasure. Come on, let’s go.” Madeline beckoned, leading the way once again.

I just followed behind, still glancing back at the magic tree.

~

We got a lot of stares from several people here, and I saw most of them whispering to each other while looking at me.

It was like the first day of school all over again.

I felt like hiding because of all the stares I was getting.

“Why are they all staring at us? I know I’m a new face, but still, it feels kinda weird,” I muttered to Madeline as I rushed to walk beside her instead of behind.

“Correction. They’re not staring at us. They’re staring at you,” she corrected.

“Yeah? Why is that?” I asked, curious.

“You see, everyone around here has heard rumors about someone possessing the fifth element. And the Elementals have been making a fuss about your coming for a long time now. Plus, rumors that you’ve already arrived have spread. You’re a new face, so people will figure out it’s you,” Madeline explained.

“So you people think I have some sort of magical powers? Don’t you think I would know or notice if I can make trees magically grow just by the tap of my fingers?” I shot back sarcastically.

“That’s because you don’t have the earth element. You don’t have any of the four elements. You have a rare type of element. One that’s never been seen before. The fifth element,” she replied.

“What is it then? What is this fifth element?” I asked, anticipation bubbling up.

“You tell me. You’re the one who possesses it,” she countered.

“Then how come I know nothing about it? I mean, what if you guys got the wrong person?” I questioned.

“The Elementals never make a mistake,” she stated.

“Right. Because they’re divine or something?” I snorted.

“Just don’t worry about it. You’re meant to be here. My mom is sure of it, and I trust her. And besides, we’re here already.” Madeline stopped abruptly in front of a door in a hallway.

“Here? Where’s here?” I asked, looking around.

“Our dorm, dummy!” she announced cheerfully with her arms wide open.

“Oh. Are we gonna be staying together?” I asked her.

“Yeah! We’re going to be roomies. How about that?” she grinned and unlocked the door with the keys she was holding.

I hesitated for a second before going inside the room with her.

When I entered the room, it didn’t look like what I was expecting at all.

It looked so well furnished. Two beautiful medium-sized beds were sitting inches away from each other.

Reading tables and chairs at each corner of the room. There was even a mini sitting area with comfy-looking sofas.

There was a sophisticated-looking bathroom as well.

The room was one of the most beautiful rooms I’d seen in a while.

“Wow. This is actually not bad at all,” I admitted out loud.

“I knew you would like it. I decorated the room myself when I heard you were coming, and I wanted to impress you. I’m glad my hard work paid off,” Madeline said, sounding proud of herself.

“You did great. Really,” I told her.

“Thank you!” she beamed.

“So which one is your bed?” I asked, and she pointed to the one on the left.

“That one,” she answered.

“Okay then.” I went toward my own bed. I laid down for a minute before remembering that I didn’t have my things with me.

“Wait… I don’t have any of my stuff. It was packed, but I don’t know where it is now,” I said to Madeline when I sat up.

“Don’t worry, it’s here already. In your wardrobe. It was brought in when you were still at the clinic,” she reassured me and went over to her own bed to relax.

“Oh. Right.” I went over to the wardrobe to open it.

I saw my bags neatly arranged inside.

I thought about my mom and how she was doing right now.

I don’t know if she was hurt from, apparently, my loss of control.

I wondered if she was worried sick, if she misses me. Because I fucking miss her.

I opened one of my bags and took out one of my clothes.

“Hey, can I go take a shower?” I asked Madeline, and she nodded.

“Of course, why do you have to ask? It’s your bathroom too.”

I half-smiled and went into the shower and took a long, warm, soothing bath as I kept thinking about everything that had happened so far.

Could this really be my life now?

After I changed into better clothes, Madeline offered to take me to the cafeteria to get some food.

The staring continued when we got to the cafeteria.

After getting our food on the tray, we went to sit at a table where other students with the green uniform were sitting.

“Oh my god, Maddie. Is this…” one of the girls sitting there gasped, gawking at me, and Madeline replied quickly.

“Yes, it is she.”

I looked over to Madeline and she quickly looked away.

“Oh my god, it’s such an honor to meet you. I’m Stacy. What about you?” the girl asked me.

“Cassie,” I mumbled while focused on the food on my tray.

I was really hungry.

“Cassie. That is such a beautiful name. I’m David, by the way,” one of the guys sitting there chimed in.

“Nice to meet you, Cassie. I’m Richie,” another guy added with a smile.

“And I’m Monique. It’s also an honor to meet you. We’ve heard so much about you,” the last girl said.

How on earth could they hear about me when I barely just arrived here?

“Thank you. All of you,” I said awkwardly.

Madeline was about to say something when some boys

started fighting in the cafeteria.

Wait a minute, I know one of those guys. Isn’t that… I raised an eyebrow in realization.
