Chapter 7 Water vs Fire
THE FIFTH ELEMENT 🌊🔥🌪️⛰️☯️
~Cassie's POV ~
It was that beautiful boy from back home.
My eyes widened as I watched the other boy — the one with jet-black hair — conjure a spiraling ball of water out of thin air and hurl it at the beautiful boy with full force. My beautiful boy with blonde hair looked furious and quickly countered by forming a blazing fireball and throwing it at his opponent.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. My mouth was wide open at what I was witnessing.
The water boy’s shirt caught fire from the impact, and he created a spiral of water and doused himself, quenching the flames.
“I’m going to drown you from the inside, you piece of shit!” the water boy yelled at the blonde one.
“And I’m going to burn you to ashes. How about we try and see which one would be more lethal and painful,” the fire boy threatened without much strain.
Hearing his voice for the first time felt nice. His voice matched his handsome face perfectly. How could I ever forget that face?
I stared hard at him, willing him to turn and look at me, and suddenly he turned his face to where I was sitting and our eyes locked.
He looked somewhat shocked to see me. Like he was in a trance.
I didn’t look away from him this time around, and neither did he.
Suddenly a heavy form of water shaped like a hand punched him hard, sending him to the floor and breaking our eye contact.
Next thing I knew, people wearing different medieval attire that looked like the security bodyguards from my house came into the cafeteria and dragged the two boys out with them.
He gave me one last look before he was pushed out of the cafeteria.
I bet he recognized me too.

After the boys were dragged out of the cafeteria, everyone settled back down in their seats.
“Well, that was something,” Madeline said.
And her friends agreed with her.
“Who were those boys just now?” I asked them.
“Those two guys are called trouble. Both of them. Big trouble that you’d want to stay far away from,” one of the guys — I think David — said.
“Oh, don’t be a hater, David,” Madeline told him and focused on me. “Those boys you just saw fighting are two of the hottest guys in school.”
“Not just hot, but also from the most powerful families in school. They’re children of the Elementals. Just like this dork over here who won’t accept the fact that she’s just as powerful as they are,” Stacy said and scrunched her nose at Madeline.
“Whatever. You guys know me. I’m not as strong as the rest of them are, especially in combat,” Madeline defended herself.
“Yeah, because you don’t want to push yourself. Just hiding behind your own shadow,” Stacy shot back.
“Okay, can we please get back to the topic here? Hot boys and all,” Madeline said and fake-smiled at Stacy.
“Yeah. Whatever. You girls are such girls,” Richie said and rolled his eyes.
“Yeah? It’s not our fault we’re not as scary and mean as your gothic little crush,” Stacy told Richie, and he blushed for a second.
“Aw, that’s true. Hey, Richie, how’s your crush doing? Seen her around lately?” David teased him.
“Would you guys stop changing the topic? We were telling Cassie about the hot boys, right?” Richie tried to change the subject defensively.
“Right, right, sorry. So the dark-haired boy is Damon Bellweather and the blond-haired boy is Jacob — Jake for short. They’re not really into all the school stuff. They’re more like the bad-boy rebels we have in school. It’s obvious their parents force them to be here. And hey, they might be dreamy-looking, but they’re very dangerous. Also, they both have sisters. And those ones are just as terrible. You should stay away from the sisters, though. You don’t want to be their enemy in this school,” Stacy explained carefully to me.
“You know there’s even a rumor that Sage killed someone just because of the way the person looked at her. She’s cold as ice. And scary,” David added.
“Who’s Sage?” I asked him.
“Damon’s sister. You gotta keep up, Cassie,” Stacy told me.
“Oh wow. That’s terrible. What did the school do about it then?” I asked David.
“That’s where it gets sneaky. Nothing. They did absolutely nothing. They denied Sage was the cause of death. No one would question them, of course, so we all took what they gave us,” David told me.
“Hey, could you please keep it down? I don’t like it when we discuss this. In fact, no more Sage talk. Let’s just talk about something else,” Madeline cut in, feeling uncomfortable.
“Would you rather we talk about Cara? Isn’t she like your mortal enemy around here? Cara is Jake’s sister, by the way. So hot-tempered and fiery,” Stacy said to me and turned to Madeline and started laughing at her. Soon David and the rest joined in.
“Thank you for pointing that out, Stacy. And no, we will not be talking about her either. Why don’t we talk about Cassie instead,” Madeline suggested.
“Yeah. That’s right. So Cassie, the fifth element, huh? …I was meaning to ask. What is it?” Stacy asked me.
I looked at her, confused.
“The fifth element. What is it? We’ve always been curious about what it might be,” Stacy asked me.
Suddenly all of them turned to me, their eyes glued to me. It felt like they were pointing a gun at me.
“Um… I don’t…” I was about to say something but was cut off by David.
“Is it electricity?! Please tell me it’s electricity,” David blurted out.
“Would you shut up!” they all said in unison.
“Sorry,” David whispered.
“Shut up!!!” they attacked him again and the table we were at shook for a few seconds, and he raised his hands in the air.
I think they moved the table with their powers or something.
“Now, Cassie, you were saying?” Stacy asked me, and ten pairs of eyes stared back at me.
