Chapter 2 The King Who Has Returned Again

Boss?

Callum's heart skipped a beat, his eyes widening in disbelief.

He had just seen it clearly—the emblem on these people was unmistakably the mark of the most terrifying international mercenary organization—Predatory Eagle!

This mercenary organization's services included but weren't limited to: warfare, escort missions, transportation, training, arms dealing, assassinations... and so on. Basically, whatever job paid well, Predatory Eagle would take it!

And because of their incredibly high mission completion rate on the battlefield, its members had earned the title of Black Death Gods.

Yet these Black Death Gods, who had just overpowered the Navy SEALs, were calling Wayne "boss"?

Was this some kind of joke?

Wayne was just some rich guy from Texas, wasn't he?

Why would...

Bang!

A gunshot rang out. Crimson blood mixed with brain matter formed a spray pattern on the wall.

Wayne's expression remained calm as he casually tossed aside his pistol.

He turned to face his old partner standing before him, the one called "Executioner" Morrison.

"Everything cleaned up?"

Morrison pulled off his tactical mask, revealing a stubbled face, and grinned:

"Don't worry, boss. Not a single one left!"

"Casualties?"

"Zero, of course."

Morrison protested: "Come on, boss. I know you haven't been around these years, but we're not so weak that we'd take casualties against a bunch of prison guards, are we? Are you underestimating us a bit?"

"Alright, let's go."

Wayne smiled, patted his shoulder, and turned to walk out.

The members of Predatory Eagle, known as the Black Death Gods, followed closely behind him, their eyes filled with reverence, as if following their king.

...

On the helicopter.

Wayne caressed the photo in his hand, his usually sharp eyes now filled with tenderness.

In the photo was a mother and daughter, both smiling brightly at the camera.

After staring at it for a long while, Wayne carefully put the photo away and said in a low voice:

"How did that thing I asked you to handle go?"

"All taken care of."

Morrison, sitting beside him, nodded. "After I got your call, Sean and I split up. I went to White Fox Prison, and he went to your house."

"If everything went smoothly, by the time you get to our base, you should be able to see Emily Johnson and Jenny."

Hearing this, Wayne nodded, and his tense nerves finally relaxed.

Sean was one of his longtime subordinates. They'd been through hell together, so his abilities were trustworthy.

Emily was Wayne's wife, and Jenny was his daughter.

These two were Wayne's most precious people.

It was precisely because this angel-like daughter came into this world that the soft spot in Wayne's heart was deeply touched.

To be a husband to his wife, a father to his daughter, and give them a stable home, he had chosen to retire.

But his return home hadn't made everyone happy. In fact, he'd become a thorn in some people's sides!

Merlin, the older brother Wayne trusted most, had nearly pushed him into an abyss of no return.

To completely control the Bruce family's wealth, that bastard had hired assassins to kill their own parents!

He'd then deliberately staged the scene and lured Wayne there.

When Wayne saw his parents lying in pools of blood, he nearly went insane. Instinctively, he pressed his hands against those horrible wounds, trying to use CPR to save his loved ones.

Then came a gunshot.

A bullet passed through his back and out his chest, blooming into a crimson flower.

When Wayne woke up, he was already in a hospital bed, his limbs shackled.

In the evidence bag was the gun that had killed his parents, bearing only his fingerprints, plus his parents' blood all over him.

The evidence was ironclad!

For intentional homicide, Wayne was locked up in Texas's most notorious White Fox Prison.

However, due to good behavior in prison, Wayne received consecutive sentence reductions, and finally, after four years behind bars, his release date arrived.

That day was today.

"Boss, will you stay this time?"

After hesitating for a moment, Morrison asked.

Hearing this question, the others in the helicopter turned to look at Wayne, their eyes full of expectation.

Although Predatory Eagle was doing okay now, since losing Wayne as their backbone and spiritual leader, their performance had inevitably declined somewhat.

Their status internationally was no longer as prestigious as before.

Therefore, whether it was Morrison or the other Predatory Eagle members, they all desperately hoped Wayne would return!

To lead Predatory Eagle, dormant for four years, back to their rightful throne!

Under several expectant gazes, Wayne calmly nodded:

"This time, I'll stay."

Since retirement had only made some people get ideas they shouldn't have, it was time to make the world remember Wayne's name again!

And some bastards needed to pay the price they deserved!

"I love you, boss!"

"I knew you couldn't bear to leave us!"

With Morrison's exaggerated expressions and gestures, the helicopter cabin erupted in genuine cheers!

Seeing this scene, Wayne's lips curved slightly into a nostalgic smile.

Ten years ago, Morrison was just like this. Who would've thought that after all these years, he'd still be the same joker.

"Guys, I have a suggestion!"

Morrison grabbed the radio, opened the communication channel, his face excited. "To celebrate the boss's return, let's make today a commemorative day. What do you say?"

"The boss is back? Morrison, you bastard, you better not be lying to us!"

"Is the boss really back this time, not leaving again?"

"..."

The communication channel exploded like a bomb had gone off, with members in the other armed helicopter constantly talking, their words full of joy.

"Sorry, guys, I need to take a call first."

After shouting into the radio, Morrison pulled out his phone and answered with a smile on his face.

But moments later, his smile gradually disappeared, replaced by gravity.

Hanging up the phone, Morrison looked at Wayne with a serious expression:

"Boss, we've got a problem!"

"Sean just said Emily and Jenny weren't at your house."

"Not at home?"

Wayne's head snapped up.

"That's right. According to what Sean learned from the neighbors, two hours ago, Emily and Jenny were picked up by a stretch Lincoln."

Thud!

Wayne slammed his fist hard against the cabin wall, his eyes bloodshot.

"Merlin!"

Wayne practically ground out the name through clenched teeth, word by word!

Besides that bastard, he couldn't think of any other possibility.

"Morrison! Immediately mobilize all nearby Predatory Eagle members. I want all these people sent to hell!"

"Also, spread the word that I'm back. Let's see who dares to take Merlin's job!"

"Yes, sir!"
