Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Twilaâs POV
I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. As I looked behind me, I could see them. They were closing in on me. I needed a miracle or Iâd be dead in minutes.
âThis is when shapeshifting is useful, but no!, Twila, you decided to be the packâs weirdo who canât shapeshift even at the age of twenty!!â I said to myself.Â
Iâm already twenty and I have never shapeshifted once. My youngest brother shapeshifted when he was fourteen, my older brothers at ages sixteen and fourteen. My older sister was the earliest, at age twelve. I was the only different one. Sometimes, I doubt Iâm a werewolf because Iâve never even heard my wolf speak. Sheâs been so quiet since forever.Â
Well, my life is on the line right now, so I increased my pace.
As much as I knew theyâd soon catch up with me, I still ran⊠I mean, what else could I have done, wait and be killed. Nahhh.
Suddenly, my dress got stuck in a twig. As I struggled with it, I felt them getting closer.
âOh damn this dress!â I cussed. This was why I hated wearing dresses. âSo much for being prim and proper!â I rolled my eyes as I tore away that part of the dress. Now, I was free from the twig, but back to facing my major problem.
I looked behind me and I saw him. Ryker. The heir to the Western Empire.
He was said to be selfish, and ruthless just like his father⊠or maybe worse. I never believed the rumors until today, when he and his warriors attacked my pack and killed everyone I called family, destroying what I knew as home.
I panicked as he stood in front of me. He was in his wolf form, his eyes glowed with rage. He was a ravaging beast, ready to devour me.
I staggered backwards as he moved closer. He got so close that I fell, leaving him towering above me.Â
He placed a paw on my chest, crushing the life out of me. And then, for some reason, he just stopped.
The angry look in his eyes was replaced with a confused look. And just like that, he left.
âAm I hallucinating or did Ryker just let me go?âÂ
I stood up, carefully and tried to find my way out of this dark forest I was in.
I walked until my legs could no longer carry me, so I stopped in a cave to pass the night.Â
The next morning, I started walking again. I had no idea where I was going, but I needed to go far, somewhere safe. As I kept walking, I came across some guys. They seemed like people from the Southern Empire from the way they were dressed.
âWell well well⊠what do we have here?â One of the guys spoke. He had blonde hair. They walked closer to me.
âSheâs pretty, donât you think?â Another asked.
âWhat are you waiting forâŠ.â The blonde one spoke again and like they had communicated through telepathy, all four of them took steady strides towards me.
I staggered backwards and fell again. I wasnât much of a fighter, I could barely defend myself. What chances do I have against four male wolves?
âStand down!â Someone ordered and they all did immediately. âHere..â He offered me his hands.
I took it and he helped me up.
âSorry about the guys.â He began. âIâm Thane, Beta of the Southern Empire.â He introduced. I nodded in response. No wonder he commanded such respect, he was an important figure.
âNow tell me..â He continued, âWhat is a lady doing in this part of the forest so early in the morning?â Only this time did he fix his eyes on me.
âThis is probably it! The miracle I needed.â I thought. âMaybe they can help me.â
âIâm Twila Vesper, daughter of Lord Fredrick Vesper.â I introduced myself. I wasnât sure if he would know my dad, after all, we were just a small pack in the Western boundaries.
âHmmmâ He scrutinized me. He didnât seem to know my dad as expected, but he didnât question me. âSo, what brings you to the forest?â He asked.Â
Then a wave of sadness washed upon me. I havenât been able to mourn my family since I lost them, Iâve been busy running for my life.
A tear escaped my eyes. I wiped it away. Thane watched my every move, his face expressionless.Â
âMy clan, a small clan at the boundaries of the Western lands, was attacked and destroyed by the Western Empire. I am the only survivor.â I replied.
His brows knitted in a frown. I couldnât guess what he was thinking about.
âWhat caused the rift between your clan and the Western Empire?â He asked. I studied him carefully. He had no expression on his face, not even the slightest ounce of curiosity. I sighed tiredly.
âI need help. I want to see the Alpha.â I replied instead. He stared at me for a while, his expression still impossible to read, then he spoke to his guys.
âLetâs head back!â He ordered.Â
âBut we still havenâtâŠ.â One look from him made the guy trying to argue keep shut.
And so, on we went to the Southern Empire to meet with the Alpha.
Orionâs POV
I was just stepping out of a seven hours meeting with the elders and all I wanted was to rest.Â
âSo much for being an alpha.â I said as I walked into my chambers. Things weren't looking good for us here in the Southern Empire. Though I tried my best to rule as a good King, yet thereâs a lot of wrongs in the land.Â
There was a pandemic and it was killing my people. If we do not act fast, we might all die from the plague.Â
I sighed as I dropped on my bed. Like a plague wasnât enough, we were at the verge of war with the Western Empire. All these and more was discussed in the seven hours meeting and now, I just need sleep, some peace and quiet before waking up again to face my troubles.
I closed my eyes, slowly drifting into the dream world when a knock brought me back to reality.
âUrggghhh!!!â I groaned. Thane, my Beta walked in. âIt better be important.â I warned as he got to my bed. I would definitely kill him if it wasnât something Iâd be interested in hearing.
Then he told me something that surprised me. A girl from the West comes all the way to the Southern Empire and demands to see me. What a nerve!
We headed to the throne room and when I was fully settled, I asked that she be brought in.Â
âGreetings Alpha.â She said as soon as she got in. I was surprised when she raised her face to look at me.Â
âIt is her!!â My wolf exclaimed. He was overly excited. âAre you sure about that?â I asked him. âWhy canât we smell her.. I mean, shouldnât we be able to tell from a distance?âÂ
âBelieve you me, she definitely is the one.â He said. I could feel him smiling. I cleared my throat and askedâŠ
âWho are you, and what brings you here?âÂ
âIâm Twila Vesper, daughter of Lord Vesper and Iâve come to ask for your help.â She replied. Her voice was a bit shaky. She is definitely not the one. She was supposed to be strong, brave and most importantly nobleâŠ. but this here, not a chance.
I laughed, though it wasnât funny. I just needed to look more domineering.
âAnd why would I help you?â I asked. âWho the hell is Lord Vesper anyways?â I faced Thane this time. He didnât respond, he just watched on.
âWe are of a small clan at the borders of the Western Empire.â She explained. âEarlier this week, we were attacked by the Western Empire.âÂ
Shit!! Why did it have to be the Western Empire. They were our enemies too and sooner or later, we would war.Â
âHow long has your clan stayed at the borders of the Western empire?â I asked.
âSince the days of my Great grandpa.. Lord Hendrick.â She replied. I studied her carefully. She didnât seem like she was lying.
âAnd you werenât mobilizing an army to fight against them and maybe take over?â I pressed. She shakes her head negatively. One glare made her reply with her voice.
âNo.. no, we never had such intentions. We did all they asked.. offered tributes and all. Then they suddenly attacked.â She sniffed in. âWas she crying?â I frowned. âWhy would the Western Empire attack a small clan that has lived on their borders for a while nowâŠ? That was weirdâ I thought to myself. So, I asked the question in my mind.
âWhat did you do to trigger the wrath of the Western Empire?â I asked. This time, I focused my gaze on her eyes, boring holes into them.
She played with her fingers before speaking. âThey believe we have it.â She started. âThe moonstone, granted to Lord Zarin by the moon goddess.âÂ
âInterestingâŠâ I rubbed my jaw thoughtfully. There were no beards there but who cares⊠itâs how guys think.
âWhere is it?âÂ
âWhatâŠwhat are you talking about?â She seemed confused.
âThe moonstone. Where is it?â I asked again, as I stood up and walked closer to her.
âI donât know.âÂ
âDonât you dare lie to me!â I thundered. She flinched in fright.Â
âI swear I donât know!!â She replied. âI have never seen it before. I always thought it was a myth.âÂ
âSheâs telling the truth.â My wolf spoke. I frowned. âDonât involve yourself in this.â I warned and he went silent. He would probably shut me out for days.
Itâs how different we were.
âThe Western Empire must have seen something to make them believe it was in your clan.â I said to her, then I faced Thane. âIf the stone really exists, then we must find it. It might be our only hope.â I said and he nodded before walking out.
Natasha walked in.Â
âPrepare a room for the guest.â I told Natasha, then I faced the girl. âYouâd better not be lying to me.â I said sternly before walking out.
âThe one my ass!â I swore as I walked into my chambers.

Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

The Pack: Rule Number 1 - No Mates
"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."

Invisible To Her Bully
Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been gloryâblood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend meâhe sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrenderâdive into the waves and never surfaceâbut the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precisionâbecoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding strangerâand my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me payâand take back everything that was stolen from me.
I Slapped My FiancĂ©âThen Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancĂ© nowâbillionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didnât mind. Iâd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. Thatâs when it hit meâhe didnât love me. He didnât even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasnât even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disasterâmy parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. Iâd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision Iâd ever made.
Because my one-night stand isnât just some random guy. Heâs richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, heâs not letting me go.
The Forbidden Throb
Mine changed in the time it took to open a door.
Behind it: my fiancé Nicholas with another woman.
Three months until our wedding. Three seconds to watch it all burn.
I should have run. Should have screamed. Should have done anything except stand there like a fool.
Instead, I heard the devil himself whisper in my ear:
"If you're willing, I could marry you."
Daniel. The brother I was warned about. The one who made Nicholas look like a choir boy.
He leaned against the wall, watching my world implode.
My pulse thundered. "What?"
"You heard me." His eyes burned into mine. "Marry me, Emma."
But as I stared into those magnetic eyes, I realized something terrifying:
I wanted to say yes to him.
Game on.
The Biker Alpha Who Became My Second Chance Mate
"You're like a sister to me."
Those were the actual words that broke the camel's back.
Not after what just happened. Not after the hot, breathless, soul-shaking night we spent tangled in each other's arms.
I knew from the beginning that Tristan Hayes was a line I shouldn't cross.
He wasn't just anyone, he was my brother's best friend. The man I spent years secretly wanting.
But that night... we were broken. We had just buried our parents. And the grief was too heavy, too real...so I begged him to touch me.
To make me forget. To fill the silence that death left behind.
And he did. He held me like I was something fragile.
Kissed me like I was the only thing he needed to breathe.
Then left me bleeding with six words that burned deeper than rejection ever could.
So, I ran. Away from everything that cost me pain.
Now, five years later, I'm back.
Fresh from rejecting the mate who abused me. Still carrying the scars of a pup I never got to hold.
And the man waiting for me at the airport isn't my brother.
It's Tristan.
And he's not the guy I left behind.
He's a biker.
An Alpha.
And when he looked at me, I knew there was no where else to run to.
Accidentally Crossing the Tycoon
Four years ago, the Bailey family faced a devastating financial crisis.

Rumors swirled about this enigmatic manâwhispers claimed he was hideously ugly and too ashamed to show his face, possibly harboring dark, twisted obsessions.
Without hesitation, the Baileys sacrificed me to protect their precious biological daughter, forcing me to take her place as a pawn in this cold, calculated arrangement.
Luckily, in those four years, the mysterious husband never asked to meet in person.
Now, in the final year of our arrangement, the husband I've never met is demanding we meet face to face.
But disaster struck the night before my returnâdrunk and disoriented, I stumbled into the wrong hotel room and ended up sleeping with the legendary financial mogul, Caspar Thornton.
What the hell am I supposed to do now?
