Not Mine to Command

For one heartbeat, the packs heard me. Hold teeth. The howl tore out of my throat raw and low, shaped by mud, blood, and the blue-white fire crawling around my hands. It was not command. I would not let it become command. It was a warning with teeth held back. The west dens froze around the sound.
