Introduction

Kevin is the Future Alpha of the Silver Stone pack, he's ready to take that title from his Dad when the time comes, but the council isn't too happy about his decision to choose a girlfriend over his mate. If he doesn't he will lose that future title and the title will be passed down to his sister, although he doesn't believe women should be in power, his mate does her best to prove him wrong.

Chapter 1

"Kevin, get back here!!"

"No thanks sis, besides the breeze feels so great against my skin. Well, can you slow down before you-------"

  "Ouch!!"

"Kevin, are you ok?" The little girl runs and finds that he has tripped over a log.

"Yeah, who put this tree stump here though?" Hears rustling in the woods.

  "Shh, I hear something."

"Probably just your imagination." Hears the sound again.

"There it is again, lets go Kevin." Just then a wolf comes out and growls at the kids.

"We don't mean any trouble, Mr. Wolf. My brother and I were just leaving." He begins to pounce, thinking that the kids are just a couple of regular wolves they couldn't possibly defend themselves. But they don't know that these kids are heirs of an Alpha. The girl's eyes turn from her light brown color to an Amber color. The thing about children of Alpha's, they can shift earlier than regular wolves because of the power and strength of the Alpha gene in their blood.

This wolf has just messed with the wrong kids. The little girl claws the wolf just as he pounces making the wolf crash to the ground. Kevin is still on the ground tending to his ankle, which is twisted. The wound is too great for the wolf to stay conscious and this creates the opportunity for the two kids to escape.

"Come on, let's go see the doctor." She helps him up as they walk the path back to the pack house. Back at the house, a girl runs out.

  "Ames, Kevin, what happened?"

"Kevin twisted his ankle, go tell the doctor to get a bed ready." She runs to go get the doctor, Mom and Dad come out of the packhouse.

"Kevin, what happened? mom reaches out for him while Dad takes him in his arms and we start walking towards the infirmary.

  ***********************************************************************************************

  Amber's P.O.V.

You may be wondering who I am, my name is Amber but, most people call me Ames, like my best friend Diamond, just called me and the one who just twisted his ankle, is my brother, Kevin, well twin brother. We are werewolves meaning we can shift, have claws and even hunt for food, that's only if we have to but, for the most part, we eat normal food like everyone else in the world.

My Mom and Dad are Alpha and Luna of our pack called The Silver Stone Pack, my brother and I are in training to be lead Alpha once my Dad retires, well my brother is. There is a rule, well more like the law by the council of Elders. The firstborn son of an Alpha can only take over and inherit the title. Now I know what you're thinking, but yeah, that's the rule the sisters of that said boy train as well just so that they know how to defend themselves and so that no one can push you around.

So far, my brother has not been able to shift like me and that has disappointed my Dad but, more so my brother. He wanted to prove that he can handle anything and that he is on his way to becoming the Alpha he wants to be. Fortunately, I can shift and have shifted, my first shift was on our 7th birthday so, you can imagine the surprise when Mom and Dad saw me shift for the first time but, not my brother. It's been a year and our birthday is coming up so, this might be the year he gets his wolf.

  **********************************************

  15 years later

Kevin and I are 24 years old and Kevin has become stronger and confident so much that he thinks he is a mack daddy and a pimp, he has had more girls at his side than the man in the playboy mansion. I keep telling Kevin to slow down, your mate is out there probably wait for you, and what she would say when she sees all the girls you have. He doesn't care about Mates, but I do, for when I meet mine, I will love him and he will love me back.

Kevin is a catch to the other girls, but I feel bad for him though, those girls only want him for the title and not him. Kevin is certainly not the scrawny little boy from our younger days, his muscles have come in and his face is more defined almost like a model, but humble and his bright brown eyes to go along with his defined cheekbones, myself on the other hand has had the opposite effect. See while my brother grew up to be tall and healthy size, I have been blessed, and by blessed I mean, my hips have grown and my assets are bigger, I have gotten taller but, not as tall as my brother. He's 6'2 and I'm 5"10, my brother takes after my Dad and I took after my Mom.

His wolf came in nicely too.

  *************************************************

"Amber, Kevin!!!" I hear our names.

  "You invited her?"

"Yeah, it's a family dinner, and considering she will be family one day, I figured she can join us now." I turn back around to greet the girl approaching us. "I figured you two can get to know each other and maybe find some common interests."

"Kevin, I barely know her, what are we to talk about? She hangs out with the popular crowd, talking about hair and makeup and T.V. shows. She is not going to be family."

  "Yes, she is."

"Is she your mate?" I'm secretly hoping he says no because she would make my life a living nightmare. This girl, Jen, tortures, and bullies most of the students at the college and not to mention she bribes the teachers to get the grades she wants. Jen is the type of girl who doesn't and won't take no as an answer.

"No, she isn't, but as soon as I mark her she will become mine and she will be your future Luna."

"Whatever, we will talk about this later. Meanwhile, did you let Mom and Dad know about, your little visitor?" He looks at me and turns to go back inside the house. That's also the good thing about being the Alpha, you get your own house. "Make sure you tell them!" I yell into the house. Jen comes to the front porch.

"Amber, I'm surprised you arent scrubbing the floor, after all, you are built for the job." I smile sarcastically and then stick the gum, I was chewing, in her hair, a small piece though, so it won't be noticeable during dinner.

"Mom, Dad, we have a guest." My parents have been together since they were in Middle School, and have been glued to each other ever since. One day I want a love like that, my Dad loves my Mom dearly, he cooks for her, cleans, and takes care of her during her T.O.M. (Time Of Month.) He protects her, opens car doors for her, brings her flowers and they still act like when they were in school. Dad is a great catch, he hasn't lost his muscles or his physic as he and Mom get older. Mom doesn't look bad either, she looks just like when she was in her teens, top-notch body, good-looking legs and her assets are still perky. Mom is a short 5"5 woman with a round face and wide hips. Dad is a tall 6"2 with bodybuilder physic, a chiseled face, and an attitude to match if you ever get on his bad side.

"You must be Jen, Kevin's mate." I mind-link Mom and Dad.

"She isn't his mate." Their faces immediately change.

"Oh, that's right, you're his girlfriend. Kevin has told us so much about you, come in." My Mom says trying to keep a normal face. I can tell she is mind-linking Kevin now, probably wants to talk to him later. Dad walks over to the table where Kevin has just placed an extra plate and glass next to his seat.

"So, who is Jen to you?"

"She's my girlfriend and hopefully your future daughter-in-law and Luna to the pack." Dad sees us coming over and he stops talking to Kevin and pulls out a chair for Mom and Keving does so for Jen. He mind-links Kevin.

"We have some serious talking to do after this is over."

"Amber, you mind blessing the food?" "Everyone hold hands. "Thank you for the food and for the family and friends we share, Amen.

"So Jen," My Mom starts. "How did you and Kevin meet?"

"In school, I'm on the cheerleading team."

"Oh, how nice. So what do you like about my son?"

"He's strong and smart and he treats me like a queen." I try not to make a look of disgust but, what she is saying is a bunch of complete and total bull. She only likes my brother because she heard that our Dad is passing the Alpha title to him in a few weeks. If he didn't have that title coming to him, she wouldn't be here.

The rest of the dinner goes smooth with me gagging of course, I can't stand Jen she is just so fake and I hate to see my brother blind-sighted by her. She will never be the true Luna of this pack, the pack will know and soon the pack will be in chaos if the true Luna isn't in her rightful place. I'm not saying a pack can't function without a Luna, but a Luna is kind of the glue that holds the pack together, she's like the mother of the pack. She makes sure everyone is ok, everyone does their duties, the sick are attended to and so forth, she is the backbone of the Alpha, and together they are a force to be reckoned with. Our pack will fall apart if Kevin keeps her around.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé.
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.

I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.

He dragged his hands down his face. "Tell me what's on your mind."
I sighed. "You're everything my parents warned me against. You're secretive, but you're also honest. I feel wholly protected by you, but then you scare me more than anyone I've ever known. The bad news is that humans aren't supposed to know about all this magic stuff and so now I'm magically bound to this bar until I can convince them that I won't go telling everyone. Or I die, whichever comes first. Sadly dying is seeming more and more likely because someone is after me. I don't know who or why but they are dangerous and they have magic.
