Chapter 10
“Well, this car is a model released this quarter. Of course, it’s nothing ordinary.”
A voice from a junior clerk next by spoke up.
“Oh, so it’s a new model. No wonder I like it.”
“There are plenty of people who like him. Who do you think you are? At least take a look at your own character before acting like that.”
Although the voice of the young clerk next to him was very soft, Walter William heard everything clearly. He caught every single word. Sometimes, he really hated the fact that he could hear so clearly.
These times are not like those of the past.
“I want the car. Call your manager here.”
Without even thinking, Walter William decided to buy that car right away. Since it was a new model, surely many people would want it. Driving that car to pick up Vicky Norton after work would be really impressive.
But the young clerk next to him acted as if he hadn’t heard anything. His voice attracted the attention of a few other workers as well. Yet, everyone glanced at Walter William but pretended not to hear anything.
Everyone else was trying hard not to laugh, probably trying to demonstrate their professional demeanor.
I looked down at my clothes. The total cost of everything I was wearing wasn’t even a hundred dollars. I had no idea where this suit came from either. No wonder those people ignored me completely.
This society is really too power-driven.
Although Walter William was annoyed, there was nothing he could do to change others’ behavior. After all, that’s just how society works. He couldn’t possibly deal with everyone, could he?
“I’m sorry, sir. This vehicle has already been reserved by someone else, so it’s not available for sale. You may take a look at other models in the store. If you find something you like, I’ll be happy to help you with the purchase.”
At that moment, a timid voice spoke in my ear. The voice was so soft that it didn’t seem like someone who worked in sales at all.
Walter William glanced back and saw a very quiet girl with a soft voice. It seemed rather inappropriate for someone like her to do sales work.
“Xiaowen, after working for so many years, why come here at all? Besides, even if you really want to work hard, you need to know where to focus your efforts. Otherwise, it’s just pointless hard work. Are you stupid or what?”
The people around him seemed to be concerned for him, but their words actually contained criticism of her.
“Already reserved by someone else? Even if it’s reserved, he hasn’t purchased it yet. Can’t I just buy it outright?”
A man who has once been an eagle would never be satisfied with being just a sparrow again. Of course, he knew that the cash in this little box was only a few hundred thousand, probably not even enough to reach 880,000.
Hearing his words, the others just stood there, watching like onlookers.
“Sir, this vehicle has already been reserved by someone else. We have no authority to make any decisions regarding it. Please take a look at other models instead.”
Xiaowen is still trying hard to explain.
Walter William simply threw the box onto a nearby table.
Xiaowen was startled by Walter William’s sudden action. She stood there, unable to speak for a moment.
This little box is extremely delicate. But even with its delicate appearance, someone like Walter William would never expect that the box contained nothing but cash.
Of course, even Walter William himself found this situation completely illogical.
“Sir, if you really want to buy this car, please fill out the check. This is our most sincere advice to you.”
By asking him to write a check, isn’t that simply showing that he has no money?
The salesperson who just criticized Xiao Wen seemed very earnest and attentive in his service. Yet, every word he said was intended to put pressure on Walter William.
“It’s your attitude toward customers. I don’t want to write a check. Is that too much to ask? I don’t care. I’m going to keep this car.”
Walter William left a few words behind, then sat down in the seating area like a lord.
“Why act all tough?”
It seems like these salespeople aren’t afraid of being reported at all. Walter William was completely ignored, while the rest of the group laughed and joked around, treating Walter William like nothing more than a subject for mockery.
“Young Master Li has arrived.”
“Young Master Li, you’ve finally arrived. We’ve already completed all the necessary procedures for this vehicle. It’s just waiting for you to pick it up.”

What came into sight was nothing short of a loser-like guy. That so-called Young Master Li had yellow hair. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think he was some kind of wild kid from somewhere.
Not to mention this brightly colored suit—he really has a strange taste in fashion.
As soon as this so-called Young Master Li arrived, Walter William was completely ignored. Young Master Li and those salespeople went straight over to the car that Walter William had his eye on.
Young Master Li simply opened the door and got in, clearly very satisfied with the car.
“Okay, I’ll go with that.”
Rich people really have an air of dominance. With cars that expensive, their words are clear and decisive without any hesitation.
“The young master is truly wealthy and generous. This car is perfectly suited to your demeanor. It’s a perfect match.”
“Yes, yes, way ahead of everyone else.”
……
These people’s flattery gave Walter William the creeps.
“Wait a moment.”
Walter William stood up and approached Young Master Li.
“Kid, get out of the way. Don’t ruin my good mood. Stay wherever it’s cooler.”
“I also liked this car. In fact, I had already decided to buy it before you arrived. So, you can’t take it away.”
“Yo…”
Young Master Li looked at Walter William with great curiosity, as if he had discovered something incredible, just like discovering a new continent.
“Say that again. I must have heard wrong.”
Young Master Li stared at these salespeople in disbelief, then glanced at the rather shabby-looking Walter William.
“Young Master Li, let’s go through the procedures on our side.”
“Don’t move. Where did this brat come from? Challenging me? Do you even know who I am?”
“Who are you, and what’s your connection to me?”
“Interesting. Someone, take care of him.”
Young Master Li was clearly angry, and the bodyguards behind him became restless.
All these salespeople were panicked. If something like this happened in the store as well, their bonuses for the month would be gone, and they’d definitely get criticized.
“Please calm down, young master. Don’t give such people any importance. After all, you have a precious daughter.”
“Young Master Li, we’ve already reserved this car for you. All the necessary procedures have been completed. You just need to sign your name. Please come this way.”
“Get lost! Today, I’m going to show you what it really means when children are raised with a stick.”
“Ah…”
The scene was in chaos, but the manager finally showed up.
“Please calm down, young master. This is completely a misunderstanding.”
“All customers are gods. The car you requested was reserved for you long ago. It’s also your favorite color, black. If there’s anything you’re not satisfied with, just let me know. I’ll make sure you’re completely satisfied.”
“Young master, please stop fighting and causing trouble here. It’s not proper.”
As soon as the manager arrived, he started to flatter and bow to this so-called “Young Master Li”. Walter William felt sorry for him at times.
“Stop talking nonsense to me. I’m determined to get him today.”
“Young master, please calm down and settle your anger.”
Walter William stared at this arrogant young master Li before him. It seemed he needed to reevaluate his position in society. Otherwise, any random person would dare to act tough around him. That was simply unacceptable.
