Chapter 7

Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted Beck Carmen. My heart started pounding wildly, and I bent my body slightly further.

“Peter …… Um, is your last name or William?”

“Walter William is my real name. Peter Reese is my nickname. Please call me Peter Reese,” said Walter William in a calm manner, as if the person standing before him wasn’t some prince who might explode with anger at the slightest provocation in Glasgow, but rather an ordinary person.

“Yes, I understand.” Jill Carroll suddenly realized it. That’s right, everyone important needs to have a nickname of their own.

“Do you need something?” Walter William asked.

Gil Carroll handed over a note and said in a serious tone, “Here’s my phone number, Mr.. I have a friend whose family has encountered a similar situation recently. Could you please help out?”

“Okay, then I won’t disturb Mr. anymore. My father has already informed the Man Hotel. You can go and take over tomorrow. Of course, you can decide when to do it. Everything is at your discretion.”

“Wait a moment.” Walter William called out to him.

“Mr., what can I do for you?” Jill Carroll trembled as she turned around, her face twisted in distress.

“Take this worthless piece of trash with you,” Walter William said, pointing at Beck Carmen, who was wailing at his feet. “And give his family a warning: if they bother us again, it won’t just be limited to breaking their limbs…”

“Yes! Yes! I understand!”

“What exactly is this Walter William capable of?”

Chad Norton felt a sense of suffocation overwhelming him. Jill Carroll, whom he had to treat with extreme care, acted like a little granddaughter in front of Walter William!?

By now, he certainly knew that Walter William was truly incredible!

At the thought of the sarcastic tone they had used just a few hours earlier, both of them grimaced and involuntarily swallowed hard.

Click… Even the security door was carefully closed by Jill Carroll, as if afraid of upsetting Walter William.

The room was completely silent…

Gulung…

“…Walter William, I heard from Lord Carroll just now that you’ll be taking over the Man Hotel tomorrow, right?” Lady Norton forced a smile as she spoke.

“Yes, yes!” Mrs. Norton nodded eagerly. “Reese, I was rude to you before… I… I’m apologizing to you here. Please don’t take it to heart…”

“That’s right! We’re the same way… It’s all because of that Baker Carmen. He threatened us with using our families as leverage. We had no choice but to make Vicky suffer…” Chad Norton quickly agreed, his attitude having completely changed from before.

“Alright, you can go now. Vicky and I need to rest.”

“Alright, then I’ll be leaving now.”

Chad Norton had a beaming smile on his face, with deep wrinkles gathering around his eyes, giving him the appearance of someone trying to hide their ugliness, like a chrysanthemum trying to conceal its flaws.

“Ying…”

“Walter William! You’re back!”

Vicky Norton came back to her senses, with a gleam of excitement on her face.

“Hmm… I’m back.”

Walter William bent down and held her in his arms. Thankfully, he arrived in time to prevent Beck Carmen from succeeding.

He seemed a bit dazed, and even his movements with his hands were somewhat unnatural.

Three thousand years! His wife, whom he had longed for three thousand years!

Finally, my turbulent emotions settled down. All the tenderness in my heart turned into one sentence: “Vicky… do you… want to be tempered?”

“What are you talking about, Walter William?” Vicky Norton blinked her big eyes and burst into laughter. “And then there was that Jill Carroll just now, calling you Mr.? You also have the ‘nickname’ of Peter , don’t you?”

“Yes, when wandering the world, one must always wear extra layers of protection. Otherwise, it’s easy to get killed by enemies.”

If his old friends in the wizarding world saw this, their eyes would probably shatter into pieces.

Walter William Tian… can actually laugh too?

“Vicky, let me teach you a set of exercises to strengthen your body. You should practice them every day from now on.”

Carrying Vicky Norton to the bed, Walter William whispered softly in her ear.

His hot breath brushed against her earlobes, causing Vicky Norton’s heart to flutter slightly. Her earlobes quickly turned red. “What are you talking about! You’re perfectly fine! And besides, our parents are right outside! I’m so embarrassed!”

“In a few days, we’ll move back to our own home…”

By this point, the voice was as faint as that of a mosquito or fly.

“Hey, that’s not how it is!”

Walter William stared wide-eyed, unable to come up with any explanation for what had happened.

Soon, early the next morning, Walter William went to the so-called Man Hotel.

As soon as he got off the car, Walter William raised his eyebrows in surprise.

The Marn Hotel truly lives up to what Brett Carroll said: a landmark building in the business district.

Straightening his clothes, Walter William walked toward the door.

“Stop! What are you doing?”

“Please inform your manager that I’m here to take over the management of the Man Hotel.” Walter William took out the purple card from his pocket.

“This is the Purple Card of the Carroll family…”

“Stop fooling around. What’s this nonsense about a ‘purple card’ or something? Who are you trying to deceive? I saw everything clearly. You got out of a taxi. You poor wretch—how dare you even come here to take over the restaurant?”

The waiter wore a look of disdain on his face.

“Then you don’t intend to let me go up?”

Walter William knew full well that the waiter had been arranged in advance.

“What! Who knows whether you went in to steal or rob? How can I let you in? Do you expect to break in by force? I’ll call the security guards…”

“What’s going on?”

“Manager Peggy!”

“Dryden, what’s going on here?” Manager Peggy asked with a smile.

“Manager, I have no idea where this madman came from. As soon as he arrived, he claimed he wanted to take over our Maen Hotel. I saw him get out of a taxi, and he wasn’t wearing a single piece of decent clothing. I thought he was talking nonsense, so I stopped him.”

Explained Dryden.

“Didn’t I tell you to let anyone who said they wanted to take over the restaurant in and see me directly? Look at this—it’s like the flood has destroyed the Dragon King Temple!”

Manager Peggy still had that cheerful smile on her face.

“Then you must be… Mr. Chicken?”

Pfft!

Dryden couldn’t help but laugh.

“Peter Reis.” Walter William narrowed his eyes slightly, showing no sign of anger at all.

“I’m sorry, my new servant doesn’t know the rules. He’ve embarrassed Mr..” Manager Peggy pretended to be angry. “If he can’t even handle such a simple task, what will Mr. say? You’ll lose half your day’s salary as punishment!”

“Come on, please come this way, Mr..”

Manager Woolf led Walter William inside the restaurant.

“Mr. never been here before, right? He seems unfamiliar with this kind of place. I guess he’s never been to a place like this before.”

Is that it? I’ve attended the once-in-a-thousand-years gathering of magical talents and the once-in-five-thousand-years assembly of demon kings. But this place here… tsk.

Soon, Manager Peggy took Walter William by elevator to a room. “Mr. Reese, please wait at the door for a moment. There’s a bench over there where you can sit. If you’re hungry or thirsty, there’s food available. Just help yourself. I’ll go organize some documents. See you in a bit.”

With that, he pushed the door open and went in.

An hour passed, two hours passed…

As noon approached, the elevator dinged and its doors opened. A tall woman wearing high heels and a stylish outfit stepped out, carrying a tray. She swayed gracefully as she approached the room.

Click. She turned the doorknob and entered the room. Walter William even heard the sound of the door being locked from the inside.

“Manager Peggy, I miss you so much~”

The voice was so sweetly coquettish that it seemed to take eight different turns. Walter William wished he didn’t have such sharp ears.

“Xiaoli, what’s become of that country bumpkin outside?”

“He’s just sitting there, acting like a fool. I have no idea what those above are thinking.”

“Heh, they sent such a worthless guy to take over? Let me see how he fares! Enough of that. Xiao Li~ have you thought about me at all?”

“You’re so naughty! There are people outside!”

“It’s okay, that’s exactly what we want him to hear!”

Then came a series of gasps for breath.

Walter William chewed on the apple in his hand, expressionless.

Ding!

“Mr.? What are you doing here, Mr.?” Jill Carroll stared blankly at Walter William, who was sitting in the chair, completely puzzled.

“That manager, Peggy, seems to think less of me.” Walter William pointed toward the door.

“He dares to!” Jill Carroll’s expression darkened instantly as she rushed over.

In that moment, he quickly pieced together everything that had happened. He rushed over just to be safe, and yet, unexpectedly, this incident actually took place before he arrived!

Dong dong!

There was no response inside the house.

Dong dong dong!

Gil Carroll increased the intensity of his knocking.

“Robert Paige, you bastard! Open the door right now! I swear to God, I’ll peel your skin off if you don’t!”

“Ye… Young Master Carroll!?”

There were some panicked voices coming from inside the house.

One minute later, the door clicked open.

“What the hell are you doing in there?” Jill Carroll was so furious that it seemed like water might drip from her face.

Glancing around at the mess in the room, with a strange smell still lingering in the air, Jill Carroll found it increasingly difficult to contain her anger.

He kicked Roberta Page in the stomach.

“Manager Peggy, are you okay? Manager Peggy?” The woman hurriedly supported him.

“Young Master Carroll, I was wrong! I really was wrong!” Ignoring the pain in her body, Roberta Page quickly got up.

“Wrong!? How exactly did I instruct you? Did you just ignore everything my father said?” Gil Carroll grew angrier by the second, and kicked Roberta Page in the stomach once again.

“Damn it, stop talking nonsense! Roberta Page, have you become too bold? I told you to hand over the tasks and leave. How dare you leave Mr. Reese waiting outside like that!?” Jill Carroll was furious. She stepped over to Walter William and bowed slightly. “Mr. Reese, what do you suggest we do about this?”

Seeing this, Roberta Page shuddered. Of course she knew she had hit a rock!

Who would’ve thought that Walter William was actually so amazing! Even Young Master Ye shows him so much respect!?

“What should I do with this?” Walter William showed little expression on his face. Instead, he gave him a strange look. “Are you leaving the decision to me?”

Pupils constricted suddenly. Jill Carroll trembled and quickly spoke up.

The index finger tapped lightly on the wall. Suddenly, the movement stopped. At the same time, Walter William’s apple was now reduced to just a core.

“Perhaps no one has told you that gods… oh no, cultivators, must not be insulted.”

That tiny fruit core was simply tossed by Walter William with such ease, only to crash against the wall with a loud thud!

The entire fruit core was deeply embedded in the wall, which was made of reinforced concrete. And because of that seemingly minor impact, the entire wall was covered in cracks!

Silence… deathly silence…

Gulung…

Gil Carroll’s eyes were wide with shock. He couldn’t help but swallow hard. A drop of cold sweat ran down his temple…

Walter William spoke softly:

“No, please, Lord Carroll! I’ve served Lord Ye for so many years. Even if I’ve made no achievements, I’ve still worked hard! You…”

“Get the fuck away from me!” Jill Carroll kicked him in the face, which was as plump as a pig’s. “Robert Paige, you’re so arrogant. If nothing happens to you today, something will happen sooner or later! I’ll take care of you on my father’s behalf!”

Looking at the disheveled nurse again, she was completely terrified, with a frozen expression on her face!

Walter William frowned. He didn’t want to stay in that room with its unpleasant smell any longer. He turned around and left the room.

Gil Carroll followed closely behind.

“Mr., what are your next plans? I’ll do my utmost to cooperate with you.”

Gil Carroll bowed slightly, especially when he saw Walter William’s dissatisfied expression. Respect was necessary in such situations.

Walter William paused for a few seconds, saying nothing. Meanwhile, Roberta Page, who was kneeling on the ground like a dog, quickly crawled away, not daring to say another word.

“Let’s hold a staff meeting.”

Walter William spoke in a calm, unhurried manner, as if taking over the Manne Hotel was no big deal. Yet, this attitude made Jill Carroll feel that he was unusually difficult to get close to.

Gil Carroll quickly informed all departments and issued a strict order: everyone must assemble within 5 minutes.

In the conference room, everyone was chattering non-stop. After all, no storm arises without wind. With someone taking on such a big task as running a restaurant, everyone was eager to see what would happen.

“Manager Zhang, what do you think of this new boss? I have no idea who he is.”

“Yes, no matter who comes, even if the king himself showed up, we’ll only listen to you, Manager Zhang.”

“Hahaha.”

……

With Roberta Page and her manager gone, how could anyone new possibly understand this complicated web of relationships?
