Chapter 8

Walter William walked in, and immediately everyone fell silent. Everyone watched intently to see just how capable this new boss really was.

However, when everyone saw that it was just an ordinary, run-of-the-mill employee who was supposed to take over, no one believed it. All eyes were fixed on this ordinary man.

Zhang Yan sized him up from head to toe, let out a disdainful snort, then stood up and walked over first.

He thought he was some big shot or something. But really, he didn’t even consider him worth paying attention to.

Zhang Yan reached out to Walter William. After all, Walter was a very influential person in this restaurant. Things like showing off one’s authority were too simple for him.

Walter William passed him by, touched his shoulder, and ignored him.

Zhang Yan’s hand froze mid-air. A strange smile appeared on his lips, and his gaze was hard to decipher. Yet, he stepped forward again.

Walter William simply took his seat at the head of the table, causing a stir among those around him.

However, Walter William showed no expression at all. He didn’t care about these people at all. If it weren’t for Brett Carroll’s insistence that he take over this restaurant, he wouldn’t have wanted to deal with such deceitful people.

“Snap.”

With a slap on the table, the once noisy room instantly became quiet.

“You idiots, what’s the matter with you? Don’t you know that the new boss has arrived and needs to be served properly? Why are you still sitting here? Is this the place you’re supposed to be sitting?”

Zhang Yan showed his big teeth and gave the last middle-level official a scolding.

“I’m sorry, manager, I…”

“Enough already. Get lost. Don’t even know what kind of person you are, and yet you still dare to show off here.”

Zhang Yan waved his hand impatiently and told him to leave.

Walter William remained calm, with no trace of displeasure on his face. Everyone knew that Zhang Yan wouldn’t welcome anyone who tried to disrupt his domain.

“Hey, this is our new boss. Please forgive me for the introduction.”

Zhang Yan really doesn’t have high hopes for this new boss.

“What? You have something to say about me?”

Walter William spoke calmly, his tone filled with disdain.

“How could I dare to do such a thing? Your words truly humble me. But you must also reveal your background, right? So that we can wholeheartedly follow you.”

Zhang Yan brought a cup of tea over and spoke in a seemingly respectful manner.

“Oh, I’m so sorry, I really am…”

The entire cup of tea was poured right onto Walter William’s head. Everyone gasped in shock, but a moment later, they began to laugh secretly.

Walter William closed his eyes, showing no sign of anger. In fact, he found it amusing to see what tricks these people would try next.

Zhang Yan pretended to wipe it away while apologizing.

“It’s okay.”

Walter William spoke in a flat tone, with no other underlying meaning apparent.

Zhang Yan didn’t expect Walter William to be so calm. It seems like he’s not someone to be trifled with. Zhang Yan felt even more motivated now.

“The big boss is a magnanimous person, so he doesn’t hold grudges against us. If there are any mistakes we make in the future, please don’t take it to heart. We’ve been with Master Carroll for a long time now. It’s he who’s led us all along…”

Zhang Yan continued speaking, his words revealing much more than they seemed to at first glance.

Suddenly, Zhang Yan stopped in his tracks and realized that Jill Carroll was standing behind him.

“Young Master Carroll?”

With a face full of respect and flattery, he was completely unlike the arrogant manner he had just shown. This was Zhang Yan.

Gil Carroll said nothing, but Zhang Yan was very perceptive and quickly stepped forward.

“Young Master Carroll…”

“Snap.”

A slap landed on Zhang Yan’s face. Zhang Yan was stunned. What kind of situation was this?

Normally, Zhang Yan was Gil Carroll’s most trusted subordinate. After all, the two were even distantly related. But that slap completely stunned Zhang Yan.

“Young Master Carroll?”

“Snap.”

Another slap. Not only Zhang Yan, but everyone present was stunned.

“What’s the point of acting all important here? Once you step out of this door, you’re nothing at all. How dare you make rude comments like that? What kind of person are you even?”

Gil Carroll said viciously, “That was a downright brutal attack. Blood was seeping from the corners of his mouth.”

Zhang Yan looked at Jill Carroll with disbelief. He had never suffered such humiliation before. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, he collapsed to the ground.

Walter William kicked Zhang Yan to the ground in frustration. Listening to all his nonsense was really annoying.

Jill Carroll didn’t say anything.

Suddenly, all the management personnel who were sitting in their seats stood up at once, joining the regular employees.

The situation is a bit delicate, and no one dares to take any reckless actions.

Walter William removed the tea leaves from his face, walked over slowly, then crouched down. He grabbed Zhang Yan by the chin, his cold gaze sending chills down everyone’s spine.

In this world, no one has ever dared to treat him like this. Even at the once-in-five-thousand-years gatherings of the Demon Kings, or during the annual competitions for young magicians, he remained a highly respected figure…

“I, um, let go, I…”

Zhang Yan tried hard to speak, but his unwillingness was obvious in his words and attitude.

“Ahuhu ahuhu~”

Walter William actually let go of him. He gasped for breath heavily. Even with his chin held in place, he couldn’t move at all.

“Hmph, what kind of person are you even…”

He hadn’t finished speaking when, the next moment, his eyes froze in place, as if carved into the wall.

Everyone gasped in shock, but Jill Carroll didn’t react at all.

Walter William had no intention of letting him go.

“Alright, the meeting is over. Let’s disperse.”

“Mr., I’m sorry. This whole situation is due to my poor supervision…”

Walter William left, followed closely by Jill Carroll. All that was left were people in the room, staring in shock. The authority of the leader had certainly been established now.

Soon, rumors about Walter William spread throughout the Man Hotel. Everyone was curious to find out who this new boss really was.

In the private room.

“New boss?”

Loli Carol put down her milk tea and looked at her little acolyte with curiosity.

Although she doesn’t work at the restaurant, she often brings her classmates there for meals. So, it’s only natural for her to have a little attendant with her. After all, she’s the daughter of the Carroll family—a status that speaks for itself.

“Yes, this person is really impressive. I heard he completely subdued Manager Peggy and Manager Zhang,” said the lackey in disbelief, still seemingly stunned from the meeting just moments ago.

“I didn’t expect him to actually dare to come.” Lori Carroll raised the corners of her mouth. Suddenly, she tilted her head back, her ponytail swaying. She really wanted to see what kind of person this was who dared to take over the Man Hotel.

“Mr., this will be your office from now on…”

Snap. The door to the chairman’s office was pushed open, and a young woman entered.

Gil Carroll frowned and said reproachfully, “Get out.”

“I didn’t expect this new boss to be quite handsome.” With an air of someone evaluating a toy, Lolita Carroll walked around Walter William, examining him from head to toe.

Walter William said nothing.
