Chapter 9

Loli Carroll used her slender fingers to pinch Walter William’s chin. Walter William cooperated willingly, gently lifting his head.

Loli Carroll, of course, has an exceptionally striking appearance, on par with his wife’s. However, his personality seems rather unrestrained and defiant—to put it bluntly, he’s difficult to tame.

“It’s a bit too cold to wear this, but overall, it’s quite nice. I really have a good eye for quality, you know.” Lolita Carroll nodded in satisfaction.

Jill Carroll wanted to stop Lori Carroll, but it was too late. Jill Carroll was terrified that Lori Carroll might crash into Walter William like that.

“Alright, stop making a fuss. This is the new chairman. Everyone should go back to their duties.”

Gil Carroll stared at Lori Carroll as if she were a child who had done something wrong.

“I don’t.”

Loli Carroll raised her head and looked at Jill Carroll with a proud, haughty expression.

Jill Carroll frowned. Although Jill Carroll usually doted on Lori Carroll, in situations like this, it was necessary to follow the rules. Otherwise, things could go wrong easily.

Walter William still said nothing. He wanted to see what this little girl was up to and what kind of trouble she might cause.

Loli Carol circled Walter William a couple of times, then leaned in and sniffed him. What kind of behavior was that? Walter William wasn’t quite sure what to make of it.

“He’s quite handsome, but I still can’t see what’s so special about him. How could Dad entrust the restaurant to him? Will I still get free meals here in the future?”

Vicky Norton had a teasing look on her face.

“Of course, Miss Carroll gets a free meal.”

Walter William smiled slightly, then suddenly spoke up, startling Jill Carroll and Lori Carroll both.

“You, you know who I am…”

“If I can’t even notice something like this, then I really don’t deserve to be the general manager at all.”

Walter William replied calmly.

Although he had just returned to Earth not long ago and wasn’t very familiar with the ways of the world, since he dared to be so rude in front of Jill Carroll, he must be an important member of the Carroll family. Given his age, it’s easy to guess that he’s Jill Carroll’s sister.

“Alright, I’ll give you that you know how to make things work. But how exactly did you convince my dad to give you this restaurant? There are very few people who can impress my dad. Fine, I’ll remember you now.”

Walter William shrugged his shoulders and made a dismissive gesture with his hands. This attitude actually made Lori Carroll find him a bit interesting after all.

“Ok, I remember you now.”

After saying that, Lolita Carroll arrogantly raised her chin, turned around, and walked toward the door. Her ponytail brushed against Walter William’s face as she went by.

Walter William frowned slightly, but still left a faint lingering scent behind.

“Mr., please don’t mind. My younger sister isn’t very well-mannered. After all, she’s still young. Don’t take her behavior personally.”

Gil Carroll quickly explained that Walter William hadn’t done anything at all.

Dong dong dong.

Someone knocked on the door, breaking the somewhat eerie atmosphere.

The person who brought it over handed a small box to Jill Carroll. After taking it, Jill Carroll placed the box on the table and entered the password to open it. Inside were stacks of Chinese yuan.

Although he has now become the chairman of Maen Hotel through this serendipitous coincidence, he has never seen such a large amount of RMB in his entire life.

Walter William was naturally a bit shocked, but he managed to control his emotions quite well.

“Mr., this is a small token of our appreciation. Please accept it. We hope you’ll continue to support this restaurant in the future.”

Gil Carroll respectfully pushed the small box forward to Walter William.

Walter William lowered his head and gently touched the RMB notes. The smell and feel were truly different. Indeed, the joy of having money is something one can’t imagine when poor.

But the Walter William of today isn’t the same Walter William from before. What’s the point of caring about a few yuan when you’re a Demon King after all?

After taking over this restaurant, he had no intention of running it for long. Gil Carroll simply replied and then quickly left.

Walter William truly became a sensation throughout the entire restaurant. He was like a miracle-worker who appeared out of nowhere, becoming the topic of conversation during meals and breaks.

Walter William sat in this chairman’s seat. It was a truly extraordinary feeling. He never thought that in his lifetime, he would actually get to be a chairman, and moreover, in a legitimate and proper manner.

Now he has a chance to start over. Over the years, Vicky Norton has really suffered enough. His top priority now is to treat Vicky Norton well and reward her for all she’s endured.

All these years, under Mrs. Norton’s oppression…

At the thought of Mrs. Norton, Walter William frowned and didn’t go on.

In this small box before me, there’s real RMB inside. Walter William had an idea.

Buying a new car is at least a way to reflect his current status. Thinking back, when he arrived here by taxi this morning, the security guards even made fun of him. Although he doesn’t care, he’s still, after all, the Demon King.

And then buy a few more things to surprise Vicky Norton. It would be great to have another candlelit dinner as a way to make up for all he owes her.

Arrived at the 4S shop.

There were quite a lot of people around. It seems that everyone has a strong desire to buy cars. In this huge 4S dealership, not a single person came to serve Walter William at all.

Walter William walked straight toward the most eye-catching car. At least in his eyes, that car was quite impressive.

All-black in color, with a stylish design that’s both understated and luxurious. Truly a great car.

“880,000! That’s amazing.”
