Chapter 2 THE NEXT DAY

Astrielles P.O.V

I'm heading to the cafeteria for breakfast the next morning and everybody is staring at me. It's different from yesterday, this time they're pointing and laughing and sneering at me like I have bird poop on my head.

I grab some bread alongside the oats and take a seat at the far end of the cafeteria trying to put some distance myself and these stuck up people.

“Hey guys, it's the snoring powerless human, i think her scholarship is for snoring,” a tall guy with freckles covering his stupid face yells.

The whole place erupts with laughter and I choke back tears.

I stare across the room and see Eliana with a small triumphant smirk on her face.

She spread the rumor. I just know it.

I focus on my food, I barely even have an appetite anymore but I know that I need to eat.

I put the last spoon of oats in my mouth when I sense a presence behind me.

The hall has also suddenly gone quiet.

The three guys from class were behind me but they weren't saying anything.

“The next person that picks on Astrielle, will have to answer to me” Zephyrion says, the look on his face tells me that he means everything he just said.

“That's right, pick on her again and let me just catch a glimpse of it” Rylan says, he shoots me a reassuring smile and I shrink further into my seat.

What the hell are they doing?

My mind is all over the place, I am trying to keep myself hidden and the three kings of the school just defended me in public?

I have no idea what they are doing but I know that this will not end well.

They turn and leave and Zephyrion turns back and glances at me one last time before stepping out.

Slowly the murmurs continue and I wish I can just disappear. From the other end of the room, Eliana is staring at me with a venomous look and her hair is starting to glow. I know she can't do anything because she will be suspended but she might strangle me in my sleep and I wince at that thought.

I dispose of my plate and slip out of the cafeteria before someone does something to me again.

The map is clutched tightly in my hand while I'm walking to my class for the day. The class is about supernatural history.

Thankfully I'm early and I walk in and take my seat.

Five minutes later, students start pouring in, some are still shooting me dirty looks but at least the whispers have reduced.

The teacher for this man is a round bald old man in a dark grey robe. He looks like he reads a lot and I like him immediately.

Again, Zephyrion, Cassian and Rylan are the last to come in and the class starts.

The man asks questions and I answer about three of them, he looks at me with a small proud smile and I feel very good.

I may not have powers but I have knowledge and i would use it to my advantage.

I notice Rylan, the quiet one amongst the three guys, shoot a few glances my way. He nods curtly at me and I look away.

I know he is a top student and I might be just as smart as he is.

I finish my classes for the day and walk back to the dormitory.

I survived the day thankfully, a part of me is praying that Eliana and her minions are not around but that prayer vanishes the moment I step in, they look like they have been waiting for me to arrive.

“Hello, Astrielle” Eliana says, her voice is sharp enough to cut glass and I immediately back away.

“I don't know who you think you are, but you must stay away from Zephyrion, Cassian and Rylan, they belong to us” she spits at me.

“Look, the last thing I want is to get in the middle of all that, i promise, they came up to me, I have nothing to do with it” I say, trying to defend myself.

Mia suddenly gets up from her bed and walks towards me.

“Are you really trying to defend yourself?” She asks, yelling in my face.

“Get out of my face” I yell, my blood boils immediately and I shove her back.

She immediately falls to the ground and starts shrieking at the top of her voice.

I step back looking confused.

She's screaming like I stabbed her or something, when she was the one that got in my face in the first place.

The door opens and the dormitory mistress steps in.

“What is all this, why are you people fighting” she asks

I open my mouth to speak when they start talking over them, saying that I attacked them

I stand there dumbfounded, I open my mouth to talk but the words fail me. Their plan worked beautifully and now I am in trouble with the authorities.

The woman turns to me and in a scary voice she says

“Astrielle Vayne, come with me this minute”

They all have triumphant looks on their faces and Mia is holding her chest shedding false tears.

The tears in my eyes are threatening to drop but I choke it down and follow the woman out of the room.
