Chapter 1
Astrielles P.O.V
I walk through the tall iron gates of Lunargrove Academy with my backpack heavy on one shoulder and my acceptance clutched tight against my chest. My legs feel weak like they will give out at any moment.
I wipe the beads of sweat on my forehead and walk up to the main building, ignoring the whispers and stares around me. It seems they know who I am but I don't care.
I reach the main office and see a tall woman with grey hair sitting with stacks of books in front of her.
“Good morning ma, my name is Astrielle Vayne” I say, my voice is shaky and I hand the scholarship letter to her with shaky hands.
She collects it from me and looks at me once.
“You're late young lady, there is a class going on already,” she says.
“I'm sorry, I didn't know”
“Nevermind. Here is your dormitory pass. You are in room 255 and you have roommates already”
“Thank you” I mutter, grabbing the pass as I make my way to the door.
How the hell am I supposed to find my class on my own.
I stare at the schedule attached to the pass, there's a small map of the academy attached to my timetable.
I check the time table and see that I have potion making class and it started 20 minutes ago. I hiss under my breath and follow the directions on the map
A girl bumps into me and i can swear that she did that on purpose.
“Watch it, Scholarship trash” she sneers, laughing with her friends as they walk away. Tears immediately fill my eyes but I refuse to let them drop. I adjust my backpack and keep walking.
She stops and says louder enough for me and everyone else around to hear.
“They just let anybody in these days, what is a powerless girl doing here on scholarship anyways?” She says. Her friends point and laugh at me.
I suppress the urge to snap at them and keep my head low.
Eventually I find the classroom. It's a huge building that has a signboard that says “Potion Making Class”. There's a statue of a cauldron in front of it.
I walk into the class and feel everyone's eyes fixed on me, I keep my head down and wait for the teacher to say something.
The teacher is a young beautiful woman with silver hair, I can tell that she's a witch because her eyes are the most beautiful shade of violet.
“Welcome to Lunargrove Academy, would you mind introducing yourself” she says.
I wish the ground would open up and swallow me.
I walk to the podium slowly and stand in front of it.
“My name is Astrielle Vayne..n..nice to meet you” I say, my voice is shaky and I'm literally holding back tears.
“What's your power?” a girl asks mockingly.
I recognise that voice, it is the same voice from earlier.
“I have no powers” I mutter, keeping my head down.
“Now that's enough Eliana” the teacher says, I'm grateful for that Interruption.
“My name is Professor Seraphina and I hope you enjoy your stay here” she says. “Take a seat”
I nod at her and scan the room to find an empty seat.
I take the seat nearest to the door and get out my notebook and my pen. She is explaining why we shouldn't mix certain potions when the door opens and three guys walk in.
The atmosphere in the room immediately shifts and everyone stares at them
I know their names in fact everyone does. I've read about them
Zephyrion Kaelvorn comes from Vampire royalty. He has pale skin, a sharp jawline and icy blue eyes.
Rylan Kane is the Future Alpha of the biggest werewolf pack in the north, he is broad and he has silver streaked hair with a permanent scowl on his face
Cassian Crowe is the most powerful young wizard in generations, he has wavy brown hair and green eyes
They walk in like they own the class and go straight to their seats and open their books without a care in the world
The professor ignores them and goes right back to teaching, I think she's used to this.

Right after the class I hear a bell ringing in the distance. I glance at my timetable and see that its my only class for the day.
I walk out of the class and snack on a few apple slices I packed and find my way to my dormitory.
I reach the dormitory and it's huge. I show the woman at the entrance my pass and she directs me to the room and I climb the stairs.
On getting there I can hear voices coming from inside.
When I open the door my heart drops into my stomach.
It's the girls from earlier and they are my roommates.
Could my life get any worse?
They immediately glance up from their beds when I step in.
The one who bumped immediately perks up.
“Look guys, the weak human is our new roommate” they giggle.
I ignore them and walk to the unoccupied bed and set my bags on it. I would ignore them, I won't let them get under my skin.
“Since we are roommates, you'll need a proper introduction” she says.
“My name is Eliana Raven, that is Mia Ashford and Toria Blackwood and we are witches so don't even try to mess with us” she says.
I nod and unpack my stuff, I brought a few skirts, a few shirts and some gowns. I check my cupboard and find my new uniforms already there with my initials on the collar, that makes me feel a bit better, at least someone anticipated my arrival.
I arrange my stuff and lay on my bed trying to get some sleep as it's getting dark outside.
They keep whispering about me but I push their voices to the back of my mind. Eventually I fall asleep.
While I'm asleep I have a dream. I see myself in an open field and my hands are glowing bright blue. I'm trying to figure out what is going on when I see three silhouettes in the far off distance. I'm straining my eyes to see who they are when my eyes suddenly pop open.
It's just a bad dream I tell myself. It's probably because I'm in a magical place
I take a sip of water out of my Waterbottle and stare around the room
Eliana, Mia and Toria are fast asleep. I burrow tighter into my bedsheets and force myself to fall asleep again.

Instead, my fingers curled into his shirt, clutching the fabric as though it was my only anchor. Something in him snapped—something he had been holding back for too long. His mouth found mine in a kiss that wasn't tender, but hungry, desperate.
I gasped into him, his hand sliding up to cup my jaw, holding me as if afraid I might vanish.
"You drive me insane," he breathed against my mouth, his lips trailing to my throat. "I can't lose you, Ella. Not you."
My head fell back, a soft sound escaping me as his fingers memorized my waist. My anger melted beneath his desperation.
"James..." I whispered, more plea than protest.
His hand caught mine, fingers threading together tightly. "I'll bring him back. I swear it. Just... don't turn away from me. Please."
The word please—low, ragged, almost broken—undid me more than anything else could have.
