Chapter 3 THE LIBRARY

Astrielles P.O.V

“I'm sorry ma, please I didn't do anything, they started it” I start rambling and apologising as soon as we get to the matrons office.

My heart is beating fast and I begin to cry. What if they revoke my scholarship? I have nowhere else to go. I literally ran away from the foster home and they will make my life hell if I go back.

“Sit” she says, curtly.

I fall on my knees and start pleading.

“I said sit!” She repeats again in an authoritative voice, I immediately feel embarrassed, I get off my knees and take a seat at the desk.

I bow my head, waiting for my punishment when she finally speaks.

“I know you didn't do anything,” she says quietly.

I look up immediately, relief washes through me immediately

“Those three girls are fond of setting people up, they bullied their last roommate till she couldn't take it anymore and she had to drop out” she says.

“Then why are they still here, Can't the authorities expel them?” I ask.

“Their parents are very powerful and they are shareholders in the school, so we really cannot do anything other than to put up with their nonsense” she says.

I consider what she says for a moment before speaking

“Well can you at least change my room?” I ask.I can't continue to remain with them, I will go crazy.

“Unfortunately, the higher authorities specifically said you must remain in that room” she says.

That shatters me completely and the tears fall even harder.

“It's okay, stop crying, but just know that I'm here for you, you can call me Matron Isolde” she says, grabbing some tissues from the cupboard and handing them to me.

“Thank you” I say, my voice sounds hoarse.

I can't run away so I'll just have to stay

“I know you're a strong girl, Astrielle. If they bully you again, I'm not saying you should fight but just put them in their place” she says, looking at me with pitiful eyes.

“Okay ma, I really appreciate this ma” I say, I'm getting up and wiping my eyes already because all I want to do now is sleep.

“You may go” she says, gesturing towards the door.

“And do me a favour, apologise to them”

Immediately she says that, i raise my eyebrows, they should be the ones apologising to me.

“Just be the bigger person” she says with a small smile on her face.

I smile and nod and walk towards the door.

The walk back to my room is like torture. Word has spread that I beat Mia up, the girls in the corridor are sneering and making snide remarks and saying all sort of things about me.

I ignore all of it and walk even faster.

They are in the middle of a game when I get in.

“Well, well. You have been suspended right?” Mia says.

“Hurry up and pack your stuff before they throw you out” Toria says.

Eliana looks at me with a devilish smirk on her face.

“ I haven't been suspended but I'm sorry for what happened” the words feel like acid on my tongue and I don't even wait for a reply.

I walk to my bed and pull the covers over my face ignoring the rest of their comments.

I continue to shed tears until I fall asleep.

It's about 3am when I jolt upright. I keep having the same dreams over and over and when I wake up my hands are glowing bright blue. I blink twice to be sure that I'm not dreaming when the glow disappears.

I stare around the dark quiet room and wonder if I imagined that or it actually happened.

I tell myself it can't be possible, I intend to lay right back down but something in me wants to walk about a bit.

I grab my slippers and pull my robe tightly around me, I open the door quietly and slip into the hallway.

I find out that some students are still up, they are being discreet so it makes me feel a lot better. At least if they catch me, they'll catch everybody.

The boys dormitory is on the other end of the compound and I can see a few of them walking about.

I walk to the back of the dormitory and there is a small library there for both the boys and girls to use when they don't feel like going to the main one.

I walk in quietly and go to the shelf that is filled with historical books. I grab one and sit at a corner. I'm three chapters in when I feel like I'm being watched.

I glance up and I see Zephyrion in my front staring down at me.

He looks a lot more normal in his grey robe and slippers and his hair is slightly messy and it makes him look attractive.

Before I speak he speaks first.

“Sorry for abandoning you at the cafeteria that day, we didn't feel good” he says.

“That's odd, you didn't all feel good at the same time?” I ask.

“We can't explain it either” he says, quietly.

“And i heard what happened with Eliana and her minions, I know you didn't do anything”

“Word really travels fast around here, it hasn't even been a full day” I shoot back.

“Just let me know if anyone else bullies you” he says and with that he tightens the cord of his robe and gathers his books..

“I would love to stay longer but my head hurts,” he says.

“It's fine, get some rest” I say, waving him towards the door.

He looks like he's about to say something but he changes his mind and walks towards the door.

I shrug and focus more on the book I'm reading. I'm reading about some old prophecies I heard about. There's a part about a mix of werewolf, vampire and a witch's blood from 500 years ago.

I feel my eyelids getting heavy as I'm about to turn the page to discover the identity of who the tribrid is and who is carrying the bloodline

I slam the book shut and return it. Then I walk to the door and make my way back to my dormitory.
