Two

Angelina's POV

My eyes hit the white ceiling immediately they opened. Curious about my surroundings, I looked around and realized I was in a hospital ward.

How did I end up here? I pushed myself up to sit on the bed and the memories of Cole's death flooded my head.

My eyes blurred with tears as everything turned real. Cole was no more part of my life, and no matter how many times I refused to believe it, it was the truth.

I placed my hand on my chest and let my tears drain.

Cole was gone and now I was alone, an orphan without a family or anyone to depend on.

I cleaned my face as the door pushed open." You are awake." A doctor strode in with a smile. " How did I get here?" I asked as she walked over and placed a bag at my bedside." The devil himself brought you here." She caged her hands in the pockets of her white coat with her head tilted to the side.

" Don't mind me, I brought you something to eat." Her gaze pointed to the bag.

" After taking a few tests, your test result proves that you have not had anything to eat for the past twenty-four hours. Your body needs to recover." She explained." I understand what you are going through, but you are not alone." I looked up at her, wondering what she meant.

Yes, I was alone.

Without Cole, I was alone, I doubt I would even know the way back to our apartment if I wanted to head back.

My life was useless without Cole. How was I going to live through all this?

Cole, why did you leave me?

My eyes blurred with tears." Ohh no, I didn't mean to make you cry. I'm sorry." She handed me a tissue." Thank you." I whispered.

" It's Katherine," she said all of a sudden, and I looked up at her. " I'm a friend of Cole and..." Her eyes shone with tears." He was a good person even though none of us knew he had a sister." She smiled bitterly.

" He hid you so well that even Arnold was shocked when he heard about your existence." She added." Who is Arnold?" I asked.

" You will meet him soon but I wouldn't be curious if I were you." She smiled.

" When can I go home?" I still needed to pack Cole's things.

" Okay, if you don't want to spend the night in this hospital. You can spend it at my place after all, Cole Davis is a good friend plus I have to make sure you are okay." I didn't know what to say, not like I knew the way to the apartment.

Maybe I could just stay at her place while I figure out how to go back.

" You are welcome " she creased my hair gently before walking out.

The rest of the day went by, and the thought of living without Cole was painful, but I was grateful to meet Katherine.

She seemed like a good person but that can't make me forget the pain I was feeling in my heart.

Losing Cole felt like my entire world had come to an end. I didn't know how to get by or live with this pain.

It was painful.

Katherine came to my room to pick me up after her shift. I didn't know how, but she said my discharge papers were taken care of, and I wasn't surprised since she was a doctor.

I froze by the door, looking around her apartment. " I will clean up, make yourself comfortable," she said as she turned on the light.

I moved a step inside. Her apartment wasn't huge, just like the one I lived in with Cole.

He promised to buy us a bigger house once I turned eighteen, but I guess that was not going to happen.

" You have me, Angelina, and I don't want you to forget that." Katherine noticed my sad expression.

" Are you Cole's girlfriend?" I wouldn't be surprised because Katherine was beautiful." He never looked at it when he was alive." She pulled me to sit on the couch." I liked him." It was the first time I saw her tears.

It seemed Cole's death didn't hurt only me." He was cold towards me, I felt he never liked me but that didn't stop me." She cleaned her tears.

" Cole Davis, you bastard." She whispered with a painful smile.

" Do you think he would have looked at me if I had confessed to him?" I didn't know how to answer that." It's okay, Cole was very professional and didn't joke with his work." She said and I frowned.

" What was his work?" I realized I didn't know anything about his work." Was he also a doctor?" Katherine smiled." Don't overthink it, Cole was a decent man." Indeed, he was.

Her phone suddenly rang and the room went silent for a while." Will you come with me to the club?" I didn't know what it meant to go to a club, so I stared confusedly at her, even though I had a clue about it.

The fact that I never stepped out of the house for ten years didn't mean I was clueless about the world. I watch a lot of movies, read a lot of books, and I know a lot of things that normal people love doing.

Examples, going to a coffee shop, shopping at a mall, and yes, the club.

I just didn't think going to a club was the best idea." It's a good place to relieve yourself, my friends are already there and I'm not going without you."

" I will get you a dress, your room is on the left." She went up the stairs, and without a choice, I followed her.

I couldn't believe I was going to a club. Was it okay? Would Cole be okay with it?

" Don't worry, I will look after you. Besides, Arnold and his men will be around." This was the second time she was saying that name and I was curious who he was.

We stepped into the club, and the place was bustling, and the smell of alcohol was stronger." Wait here, I will call Vanessa and find out where they are." She stepped out, leaving me in the middle of the room.

Everyone was having fun, but I could only watch them with an uneasy heart.

Drinking and dancing under the dim red light, everyone was a mystery because of the dim light.

I was looking around when suddenly, I met with a certain eyes up there, the second floor, behind the rails.

He was looking back at me, and someone suddenly bumped into me, making me stumble and avert my gaze.

When I looked up again he was gone. I started feeling uneasy so I stumbled out of the club to look for Katherine.

The instant I stepped out, a black polished car halted and the door opened." Get inside." A deep, cold voice came out from the car, and I froze.

" Arnold?" Katherine's voice came from behind, and I spun around.
