Introduction

" Fuck, Angelina. I want to fucking inscribe my name on your body." He growled, his voice deep and hoarse." That sounds fun, I want to bear your name on my body." She whispered back, her innocent gaze staring back at him.
Brave and innocent Angelina didn't know that loving a devil comes with a steadfast price. A dark heart that has no room for love, but she managed to slip in, captured his cold attention, and bear his eternal claim.

Chapter 1

" Boss, we lost Cole,” the man's polite tone reported with his eyes buried down, his voice a bit unusual as fear lingered behind it, and his hands respectfully wrapped behind his back.

Even though he had his back on him, he dared not look up, especially with the bad news he had at hand.” Take care of everything.” His deep raspy voice ordered. Authority radiates from his tone, and the aftermath of it brings fear. The man nodded but before he left. He pulled out a white folded paper from his pocket.

“ They found this in his pocket.”

“ Read it.” He ordered, his tone compelling and his expensive blue piercing eyes staring out through the window. The thick smoke from the stick of cigar in between his tiny lips lingered in the dark room, adding to his powerful demeanor.

“Boss…”

“ Read everything.” his tone was emotionless, not the least bothered. It was a fact that losing a strong and loyal subordinate like Cole could be very tough but he was used to it, every bit of it.

” Throughout my years with you, I learned to survive and I have been surviving pretty well. I don't know how this may sound but nothing is as good as working for you, Boss Arnold. Thank you for making life easy for me, and thank you for trusting me and allowing me to get close to you. Because of you, I'm able to have a life.

The only thing I regret is not being able to protect the one person I love.” He paused with a sad yet surprised expression because Cole had never mentioned any special person throughout his years with the mafia.

Arnold narrowed his eyes, Cole was one of the closest to him, but he hadn't heard of him having a girlfriend.

Could it be that he was fucking married? That bastard fucking hid it so well.

The man proceeded, ”So I believe dying is worth it, my loyalty is all yours, boss. If I were to serve anyone in my next life, I would prefer to serve you. The world has not been kind to me but you have. You made me see light instead of darkness, your protection is what kept me alive and going.

Boss, help me protect my sister if anything happens to me. She is everything to me. I trust you will do this one thing for your man, even though I'm not sure it's a good idea. She is too young to live by herself, and I don't want her to suffer. Cole Davis."

His eyes narrowed with a stink of emotion that barely lasted a second. ” What went wrong?” he asked. It was the easiest among the numerous operations they had performed, but at last, they lost one of their men.

“The Graysons attacked us on our way.” He frowned, as he turned to face his subordinate. His black short hair, which was nicely done, left a strand on his forehead.

His piercing blue eyes stared coldly at the man before him,“ Who pulled the trigger and how many times was he shot?” He asked and the man immediately knew what was going to happen next.

“ Six Times by Charles Grayson” his expression didn't change. It was just as he expected. Who would dare point a gun at his men if not a fucking Grayson!

Grayson was the name of the family that led the popular Russian mafia troupe and was no friends with American mafia gang nor were they enemies.

“ Look into her and report directly to me, and don't forget to send her his remains.” She was his only family; therefore, she deserved to say her last goodbye to him.

Angelina's POV

How did I get here?

Everyone has left leaving me at the graveyard.

I still can't believe Cole was gone, he left me. I was now alone with no one to call family. He was my only family, my brother and best friend." C-Cole." My silent sobs cut through the quiet atmosphere surrounding the place, my voice choking as I creased his grave with my palm.

Why did you leave me, Cole Davis? We have been together for years why did you suddenly leave?

Please, God, let this be a bad dream. I can't lose Cole." Cole, please." The cold wind blew my scarf over my head, and my tears flowed uncontrollably.

My throat felt dry, and my heart squeezed in my chest as reality set in. I wasn't going to see him, it was going to be alone from now on.

" Cole, you promised to stay with me till the end of time. You promised to protect me for your entire life. You said we will be together as a family forever." I can't believe Cole was gone and buried.

I can't believe this happened after my birthday.

Two days ago, we celebrated my birthday together. We were happy, and we even ate the cake he made together. Everything was going perfectly until he received a call.

I knew his work was demanding so I didn't stop him or get angry. I locked the door after he left, just like I always did, but then I received a message from him telling me he loved me.

I thought it was Cole being his usual self, I didn't know that day was going to be the last time I would see him alive.

I wish this were a dream.

Cole was all that I had. After the death of our parents, it has been Cole and he has been very supportive of me.

To protect and prevent me from ending up in the orphanage, he locked me up in the house, hoping to let me out once I came of legal age.

Two days ago, before he left, he promised to take me out shopping once he returned from work, but I guess this was impossible.

The first time I stepped out of the house after ten years was to attend his funeral, watch him leave me.

I suddenly felt dizzy, I didn't know what was happening to me but darkness immediately consumed me.

My sight faded slowly as, through my blurred vision, I saw someone approaching me from a distance.

Cole?

My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"

"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."

When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.

When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.

My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.

Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."

But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.

Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.

"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"

George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"

"I'm afraid that's impossible."

Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

I was so, so stupid.
