Chapter 3
I didn't move, as if I were frozen in place.
After a clap of thunder, the rain began to pour down.
“Please don’t force us to use force.” Owen’s secretary held an umbrella for him, and the young man looked at me with ill intent.
"How old are you, little brat? How are you talking about violence like an adult?" I shook my head with a smile.
"You!" He drew his pistol and pointed it at me.
Before I could give the order, my soldiers raised their weapons, and the two sides faced off in a tense standoff.
President Irving also looked at me coldly, but I could tell he was just putting on a brave face.
I kicked his gun away and pinned him to the ground.
"Ouch!" He didn't even realize what was happening before he fell into the mud.
"I hope you won't act like this when you're fighting monsters." I let go of him and lifted him up from the ground.
“Take this Mr. Kane home.” Owen, having finished appreciating my warning, gave the final order.
I glared at the soldiers who tried to approach me, and they didn't dare to come forward at all.
"No need!" I exhaled. "If this is the final decision made by the country, I will obey."
I waved goodbye, and my soldiers wept bitterly.
Without looking back, I walked towards my motorcycle and ripped off the dust cover.
It's been many years since I last rode one, but as soon as I twist the throttle and hear the engine roar, I can think of those days when I was speeding through the streets and battling monsters.
I put on my trench coat, braved the heavy rain, and sped away, disappearing gracefully into the night.
"Let's begin," Owen continued, a strange smile creeping onto his face as he looked at his defiant secretary beside him.
My home is in a remote town called Peace Town, far from the fortress .
It was so far that I rode my motorcycle for three whole days and two nights .
It's been so long since I've been home, and the thought of it fills me with a strange restlessness.
I parked the car in the garage and took off my helmet.
After letting out a breath, I finally mentally prepared myself and opened the door with the key.
I didn't expect the house to be so clean.
The floor was waxed, dried flowers were in a vase on the dining table, and the air smelled of cleaning agents—everything was just like the morning I set off for war twenty years ago.
"It seems this was planned in advance." I shook my head helplessly. The president had someone clean my room beforehand, so it seems he had been planning my dismissal for a long time.
I went into the bedroom, where a photo of Jenny was hanging on the wall; it was our wedding photo from when we got married.
But shortly after the wedding photos were taken, while I was fighting on the front lines against the monsters and was so exhausted that I fell asleep on top of the piles of these strange and ugly monster corpses, I learned that my hometown had been attacked by monsters and that Jenny had also died tragically at the hands of the monsters.
But I had no time to mourn her; I could only vent my grief and anger on these heartless demons.
I swear! I will slay all the monsters in the world and protect all humanity! I will let Jenny see a happy and beautiful world!
"I'm so sorry, darling, I'm finally back."
I hung this precious photo in the living room and turned on the TV.
The news of my resignation was broadcast on television.
"The debauched and licentious Demon-Sealing War God has finally abdicated! His departure is something we should all celebrate!"
"Warcraft Lies Exposed! Twenty Years of Oversight Turned into the Biggest Deception!"
"99% of the funds were used for Kane's personal consumption, and his crimes deserve a thorough trial."
Before I could even process what news I had seen, the beer can in my hand was instantly crushed.
To ensure that Warcraft would no longer harass humanity, my brothers and I worked day and night, diligently guarding our post, only to have it reported as a lie by the media.
I slumped onto the sofa, trying to comfort myself.
If the president takes over for two or three days and makes regular inspections, he will surely find that the monsters are still stirring.
"But what is the way he said he brought that can permanently solve the problem of monsters?" I pondered, looking down.
A brick smashed through the window, flew into the room, and shattered the glass.
"Kane! Get out here! You despicable man!"
The noise came from outside, and I involuntarily frowned.
