Introduction
Chapter 1
One hundred years ago, a powerful earthquake tore open a giant rift, and countless ferocious monsters invaded the human world through a portal in the abyss below.
Human civilization is on the verge of destruction.
As a young man, I led the human alliance legion to stand up and fight a bloody battle, suppressing these monsters back to the portal.
In order to eliminate the threat forever, we have been searching for a way to completely seal the portal, but we have made no progress in the past twenty years.
We can only use manual sealing.
This also means that we need to enter the underground abyss every seven days to confirm that the portal has not been reopened by the monsters.
We built a surveillance fortress and stood guard above the rift without ever leaving it. On the day the fortress was completed, I was appointed as the Demon-Sealing War God.
Occasionally, restless monsters would quietly open the portal, but as soon as they saw me, they would shrink back in fear and wouldn't dare to come out at all.
So for the past twenty years, humanity has finally been free from the harassment of monsters.
Today is the day of the inspection, and also the 20th anniversary of the fortress's construction.
I stood on the ruins of the portal, feeling the energy fluctuations.
"Not bad, looks like it'll be safe for a while." I climbed the long steel ladder and crawled back to the surface from the deep underground abyss.
For the past twenty years, I have personally gone to conduct all these inspections, because only I can suppress these monsters. If anyone else encounters a riot while conducting inspections, they have no chance of survival.
I cannot risk my subordinates' lives.
"Lord Kane! Please take a look at the television!" My adjutant turned on the projector, which showed the proceedings of this year's Congressional session.
"What's wrong? Anything new?"
"They want to take back your position and title..." The adjutant lowered his head, not daring to continue.
I sat on the sofa, watching TV in silence.
The human leader who is speaking now is newly elected this year, and people call him President Irwin.
He stood on the stage, reading out the investigation report, which was full of dissatisfaction with me, the Demon-Sealing War God.
"The Ministry of National Defense questioned whether Warcraft still exists and whether the Demon-Sealing War God really needs so much funding to maintain the operation of the surveillance fortress?"
"The masses angrily denounced the Demon-Sealing War God as a parasite that rides on the backs of taxpayers and sucks their blood! He doesn't have to do any work, yet he can hold a high position and enjoy a luxurious life."
"The private investigator's investigation revealed that the Surveillance Fortress holds large-scale celebrations every week, which is undoubtedly extravagant and wasteful. The Demon-Sealing War God should be thoroughly investigated."
Irving read these words aloud with a blank expression.
"Based on the combined opinions, we will launch an investigation into the Demon-Sealing War God in the near future. Please wait for official announcements for further details..."
"These ignorant fools have no idea what we've sacrificed to fight the monsters," the adjutant said indignantly.
Only twenty years have passed, and they have already begun to question the existence of monsters. They have forgotten how the monsters brutally slaughtered them and who stood up to protect humanity in times of crisis.
They actually think that the monsters have been wiped out long ago, and that the surveillance fortress I spent a lot of money to build is just a waste of their taxpayers' money.
"That's enough, it's all just boring news." I stood up, yawning.
“Acts like this happen every year, what else can I say?”
Every president has investigated me, but after learning about my situation remotely, they have all expressed their understanding.
They pleaded with me to stay at my post, saying they were willing to grant me any request.
"I don't care, but the brothers who are keeping watch with me have worked hard. A big party once a week isn't too much to ask, is it?"
I spoke with a smile, my legs propped up on the table.
“No problem, Lord Kane.” The former presidents all agreed.
Dozens of trucks continuously transported luxury wines and gourmet food to our surveillance fortress, and we also maintained the tradition of having a party every seven days to celebrate that we had survived another period of time.
"Get hyped!" I shouted from the stage. "Today's a big day! Everyone, cheer up!"
At my command, the grand and crazy party officially began.

The Contract Wife: Marriage Of Malice
He didn't finish. He didn't need to.
I didn't tell him to stop.
Instead, my fingers curled into his shirt, clutching the fabric as though it was my only anchor. Something in him snapped—something he had been holding back for too long. His mouth found mine in a kiss that wasn't tender, but hungry, desperate.
I gasped into him, his hand sliding up to cup my jaw, holding me as if afraid I might vanish.
"You drive me insane," he breathed against my mouth, his lips trailing to my throat. "I can't lose you, Ella. Not you."
My head fell back, a soft sound escaping me as his fingers memorized my waist. My anger melted beneath his desperation.
"James..." I whispered, more plea than protest.
His hand caught mine, fingers threading together tightly. "I'll bring him back. I swear it. Just... don't turn away from me. Please."
The word please—low, ragged, almost broken—undid me more than anything else could have.
