Chapter 1
Alpha Loren:
“I think of myself a gentleman. My power, my strength and my action are driven by one thing- the instinct to protect the things I hold dear. But heed this: if you stand in my way, you will see nothing gentle. Only everlasting suffering and anguish far beyond your comprehension.”
-Alpha Leonardo Loren
Chapter 1: Cameron
A few weeks ago,
The music of the party thudded throughout the house and the smell of sticky teenagers was rife in the air. It was the peak of misguided youth with alcohol, drugs, drunken make-outs and a whole lot of annoying the neighbours.
Not my scene but I was with my boyfriend who, as an established member of the football team, mixed with this crowd regularly.
We clasped our clammy hands together, winding through the crowd to our eventual destination, the drinks table.
I laughed as he attempted to open his beer with his teeth before accepting failure and reaching for the bottle opener that lay in a pool of warm beer on the table.
After pouring myself a drink too and clutching it close to my chest, we weaved back towards the door, hoping to find a little fresh air without the vomit odour and sweaty bodies.
Just as the door came into sight and its refreshing breeze hit my flushed cheeks, I bumped into a hard chest. My drink sloshed down my front and oozed into my shirt.
After stumbling back, a familiar face greeted me.
It was Jake, a tall and pretty hot senior. As one of my brother’s friend, he hung around my house a lot, and I was forever bumping into him. Although until tonight, not literally.
“I’m so sorry, Jake, that was totally my fault,” I said, grabbing some paper towels from someone else’s spillage and rubbing his shirt.
“Ella, don’t worry,” he said, placing his hand on mine to stop me. “What is it anyway? Lemonade?”
“Yeah...”
“You don’t drink?”
My eyes widened.
“Oh, I had a beer earlier,” I said, “I just-“
“Chill, will you?” He said with a laugh, “I don’t give a shit if you’re drinking lemonade or neat vodka... you’re cool either way.”
I laughed nervously, “Thanks.”
“Hey, listen. Do you wanna dance?”
His hand had rested on my back as he smiled warmly.
“Oh, I’m here with Cam-“
“No. She doesn’t want to dance because, as you know, she is my girlfriend,” Cameron said, coming up behind me and placing his hand on my waist.
“Oh sorry, bro. I forgot you two are a thing,” Jake said.
Cam grunted, “You forgot? Sure.”
Jake put his hands up in defence.
“Hey, I’m not involved in juniors.”
“It’s okay,” I said, taking Cameron’s hand.
“Yet here you are getting handsy with my girlfriend,” Cameron hissed, “You’ve had your eye on her for a while.”
“Dude, chill,” Jake said.
“Cam, it was a mistake.”
But he wasn’t backing down. Instead, he stepped closer and shoved Jake’s chest.
“Keep your hands away.”
“Look, I’m sorry, man. I didn’t mean to upset you-“ Jake began, but before he could finish Cameron had thrown himself forward.
I gasped as they both hit the floor.
“Cameron, get the fuck off him!” I shouted, “Are you trying to go to jail?!”
He only got a few punches at Jake’s jaw before my brother, Connor, prised him away.
Jake scrambled to his feet, glaring at Cameron as Connor held him back.
“What the fuck, man?” Connor asked, escorting him away and towards the stairs.
“I’ve got this Connor,” I said, taking Cameron’s hand.
My brother nodded and let him go, giving him a firm look as I dragged him upstairs.
“What has got into you?” I asked, bundling him into a room and shutting the door, “One minute we’re having a good time and then you’re beating someone up?”
I sat him down on the bed before folding my arms across my chest.
“I’m sorry. But I’ve seen him check you out before and I knew he was going to make a move if he ever got the chance,” Cam grumbled.
I sat down beside him and turned his face to look at me.
“Ignore him,” I said. “I am your girlfriend and I have no interest in doing so much as giving him my number.”
He nodded, “I know.”
“And you know that I can defend myself? I don’t need you to punch people for me,” I added.
He nodded again, “Surprised he even dared to try you,” he said with a laugh before lifting his beer.
“I think you have had a little too much to drink already,” I said, taking it off him. “How about we go back downstairs so you can apologise for giving him at least one black eye...”
“In a minute,” he almost whispered as he pulled me onto his lap. “I gotta show my girl some love first,” he slurred before thrusting his lips into mine.
I kissed him back for a few moments before pulling away.
“Come on,” I said, laughing at how drunk he was. “Let’s go.”
“No, no. Not yet.”
He wrapped his arms around my waist before kissing me again.
“Okay, that’s enough, Cam. I want to go back downstairs,” I said, pulling his hand out from under my top.
“It’s fine. I’m sure Sarah won’t mind us using her bedroom for a bit.”
“I am pretty sure she will!” I laughed as I gave him a little half-playful, half-serious shove.
But he continued to kiss my neck.
“No, Cam. Not here, not now.”
“Oh, come on, babe. Loosen up a bit. It’s time, we’ve been together so long...” he slurred again, the smell of alcohol pungent in his breath.
“No,” I said.
But he didn’t stop.
“Cameron, get the fuck off me.”
He groaned and carried on.
“You need to show me you love me, babe.”
“I said no,” I hissed, losing my patience and shoved him off me.
He stumbled, taken back by my sudden strength. He didn’t know my secret. Few did.
“How much longer do you want me to wait!?”
The truth is: I would find my mate one day and things between Cameron and I would end. I may love him but mate love was different and undeniable and I decided long ago that I want to save myself for them.
“If you loved me, then you would respect my decision and not try to pressurise me into it,” I argued.
“You’re being unreasonable. Other couples do it all the time.”
“Well, this isn’t going to work then,” I mumbled, sitting on the bed and looking up at him.
He looked down as the corner of his lip twitched. I hoped he’d sit beside me and apologise. I hoped I meant more to him than sex.
Instead, he held eye contact with me for a few moments before his face hardened.
“Fine,” He snapped. “Now I can have sex for the first time in five months.”
I marched down the stairs, tears brimming my eyes. Connor was standing at the bottom, looking up at me in confusion.
“Ella? What’s wrong?” he questioned.
“Can we go home?” I sobbed.
“Sure.”
And that was how I broke up with my boyfriend. A great and beneficial experience if you asked me. Loved every second!

He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
The Family Sacrifice
I simply said one word: "Okay."
My parents and Gilbert were stunned. They rushed to have me sign the voluntary donation form, afraid I’d change my mind.
Some days later, they sent me to the operating room.
Dad said, "Yvonne will finally be saved. We're so proud of you."
Mom said, "After the surgery, we'll make it up to you."
Gilbert looked tenderly at Yvonne and said, "When you're better, where should we travel?"
What they didn't know was that the day I agreed, I'd just received my diagnosis, stage four cancer. Three months to live.
As I lay on the cold operating table, as the anesthesia began to take effect, I only wanted to know one thing:
If I die on this operating table, will they regret it?
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me gone—so his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms

On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
