Midnight Manhwa · Ongoing · 37.8k Words
Introduction
“Alpha do you feel that?” Asks Ron
“Yea” I growl threateningly, “surround and close in on them now!” I instantly shift and head towards the invader.
5 minutes later we reach the clearing, the invader was a wolf. A beautiful mud reddish brown wolf. It’s big but I can tell it’s a female. Standing my ground I growl indicating I want her to stand down. Instead she growls defiantly and takes a defensive stance. I was about to attack when Ron links me, “Alpha wait! She has a pup with her!”
Chapter 1
"I am fine without a mate. I don't hate the idea or anything, I am good at what I do and I am happy. I am satisfied." I think to myself,
Since I am going take over, I have started visiting packs with my dad. Shadowing him and learning the intricate stuff that you don't hear about meeting neighboring alphas for maintaining alliances.
Three months in and we finally end up at the Black Creek Pack. Alpha Jackson is also prepping his son to take over. Andre.
It doesn't take too long for us to get there, just two hours flat.
The first day there goes by with ease, Alpha Mike is a sweet and fair alpha. And although he and my dad weren't the best of friends, they have an amazing acquaintanceship. The respect they both share for each other surpasses everything, so they are always able to come to an understanding."
But, Andre is different. He didn't show up that day. Alpha Mike had sent him to take care of a task at a neighboring pack. At dinner he said he was supposed to be back the next day but he still didn't show up until the ending of the third day.
We all finished eating dinner and I decide to head out for a walk to get some fresh air and a little exercise after that delicious meal. When out of no where, the sweetest mix of blackberry and cedar hits me and I start looking around to find where it's coming from. Laying eyes on him, it's as if time is standing still. Enya is going crazy and telling me to go to him.
When he finally scents me too he stops in his tracks, looks around and then we made eye contact. The second our eyes meet, I knew, we both said mate at the same time. He is too far for me to hear him but I saw his lips move. That was when I hear it, the most sickening voice yelling babe, and the next thing I know, a she-wolf is jumping on MY mate, kissing him, and he's letting her. Instead of dropping her, he walks with her in his arms past me, never breaking eye contact, with a look that says don't you dare do s--t."
So what do I do? the only thing I can, I go on my walk like I intended to. If I don't I will go on a rampage.
So I went on a walk deep into the forrest and uprooted a few trees to calm myself. There is an Alpha conference at the end of the week and I need to keep it together.
"Sapphire, we should try to talk to him" Enya urges me over and over.
"Fine" I say giving in, "but not before the conference. After the conference I will confront him and try to see if we can work things out."
It's the morning of day 4 here. Dad and I head over to alpha Mike's office so that can continue where we left off from yesterday.
Dad knocks on the door and pushes it open once alpha Mike says come in.
Who do we see when we walk in? My bastard of a mate.
"Don't call him that" Enya scolds me,
Rolling my eyes, "He is though"
Alpha Mike introduces us and to say he was shocked about me being Sapphire Black is an understatement.
"Nice to meet you" I say, as I extend my hand for a hand shake.
"Likewise" he responds with a tight jaw.
When we shook hands the sparks erupted, but before it could go any further he drops my hand and turns back to his father.
"Why is he treating us like this?" Enya asks
"Because he's a bastard" I answer,
As we stop to have lunch I completely ignore him and only say goodbye to alpha Mike.
Later on my dad came to my room, "Sapphire, earlier today when we stopped to go have lunch, why did you ignore Andre?"
"Ugh, it was that obvious huh?"
"Yes"
Sigh, "You'll know after the conference on Saturday"
As my dad and I walk into the pack house right before dinner, Andre was already there with that same she-wolf but when he saw us at he door he started making out with her right in front of me. He's taunting me and Enya loses it.
I don't even remember when I grabbed her by the shoulder and threw her off him. It caught everyone off guard because he was still sitting there wide eyed. Even my dad was caught off guard."
"Sapphire!" he yells, "What are you doing?!"
Having been attacked from behind, the she-wolf got up reasonably pissed and rushed me. I easily grabbed her by the throat and lifted her up in the air. Andre stood and started growling and yelling for me to put her down. He was ready to fight me.
I am his destined mate, the one the moon goddess created for him, but it's obvious that doesn't mean anything to him.
Enya is pissed, we both are, but I am also incredibly hurt so I let Enya do all the talking.
She turns to him and says, "Pettiness I can deal with, but blatant disrespect for who I am to you I. WILL. NOT. TOLERATE. YOU WILL NOT DISRESPECT ME IN THIS MANNER."
"PUT HER DOWN NOWW!!," he growls out.
"OR WHAT?" we challenge him,
"OR I'LL MAKE YOU WISH YOU WERE DEAD!", he threatens as his eyes flicker between his normal dark brown and his wolf's hazel eyes.
"ANDRE! What is going on here?!!" yells alpha Mike
I tighten my grip on the she-wolf and she starts to whimper and squirm more.
Andre starts to shift and that's when I felt my father's hand on my shoulder.
"Princess, that's enough." He says softly.
"Tell the bitch to drop her now!" Andre yells,
That did it for my dad. He lets out a menacing growl and backs Andre to the other side of the room.
"YOU IMMATURE, INEXPERIENCED PUP! IF YOU WANT YOUR LITTLE MISTRESS BACK IN ONE PIECE I SUGGEST YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP AND WATCH YOUR TONE WITH ME OR SO HELP ME I WILL SPREAD YOUR GUTS ACROSS THESE WALLS" my dad threatened.
"ALPHA BLACK! I SUGGEST YOU CALM DOWN! UNLESS YOU INTEND TO START A WAR TWO DAYS BEFORE THE CONFERENCE! I WILL NOT STAND ASIDE AND WATCH YOU LAY A HAND ON MY SON!" says alpha Mike.

The Family Sacrifice
I simply said one word: "Okay."
My parents and Gilbert were stunned. They rushed to have me sign the voluntary donation form, afraid I’d change my mind.
Some days later, they sent me to the operating room.
Dad said, "Yvonne will finally be saved. We're so proud of you."
Mom said, "After the surgery, we'll make it up to you."
Gilbert looked tenderly at Yvonne and said, "When you're better, where should we travel?"
What they didn't know was that the day I agreed, I'd just received my diagnosis, stage four cancer. Three months to live.
As I lay on the cold operating table, as the anesthesia began to take effect, I only wanted to know one thing:
If I die on this operating table, will they regret it?
He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me gone—so his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
Alpha Nicholas's Little Mate
What? No—wait… oh Moon Goddess, no.
Please tell me you're joking, Lex.
But she's not. I can feel her excitement bubbling under my skin, while all I feel is dread.
We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.
And then, just as quickly… he sees me.
His expression twists.
"Fuck no."
He turns—and runs.
My mate sees me and runs.

Once they are brought to him he finds himself once again facing his mate and discovers that she's hiding secrets that will make him want to kill more than one person.
Can he overcome his feelings towards having a mate and one that is so much younger than him? Will his mate want him after already feeling the sting of his unofficial rejection? Can they both work on letting go of the past and moving forward together or will fate have different plans and keep them apart?

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

Accardi
“I thought you said you were done chasing me?” Gen mocked.
“I am done chasing you.”
Before she could formulate a witty remark, Matteo threw her down. She landed hard on her back atop his dining room table. She tried to sit up when she noticed what he was doing. His hands were working on his belt. It came free of his pants with a violent yank. She collapsed back on her elbows, her mouth gaping open at the display. His face was a mask of sheer determination, his eyes were a dark gold swimming with heat and desire. His hands wrapped around her thighs and pulled her to the edge of the table. He glided his fingers up her thighs and hooked several around the inside of her panties. His knuckles brushed her dripping sex.
“You’re soaking wet, Genevieve. Tell me, was it me that made you this way or him?” his voice told her to be careful with her answer. His knuckles slid down through her folds and she threw her head back as she moaned. “Weakness?”
“You…” she breathed.
