Chapter 1
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA.
SPRING SEASON
KARA's POV
I watched as my husband,Joey, adjusted his tie while facing the full length mirror. He looked so handsome, just as always and smart in his work clothes. His platinum blonde hair had been styled and gelled to perfection. It was 6:30am and I had just finished making breakfast and set it up on the dining table.
I had to get up extra early to ensure he had food to eat because he always had to leave on time to beat the morning traffic.
Walking over to him, I held him from behind and softly said, "Its time to eat babe,"
He spun around and planted a quick kiss on my cheek. "Thank you but I would have to skip breakfast today. I need to get there earlier than usual."
Okay. It was nothing new. He had done this some times.
"But you should have told me before allowing me go make it," I said with a slight frown.
"It slipped my mind."
It always slipped his mind.
He continued, " I gotta go now though.I'll see you later in the evening." He gave a small smile as he pulled my cheeks a little before grabbing his briefcase.
As he got to the door, he turned around to say something.
"Hey, don't forget my brother is coming today. You have to please get him from the airport. Hope the guest room is ready?"
"Yeah it is. And I'll take care of it, don't worry. Have a nice day at work," I replied as I hugged myself.
He blew me a kiss and then exited the room.
I sighed and plopped on the bed. I still felt a bit sleepy and was gonna go back to bed even if it was just for an hour or two.
I was a freelance writer as well as a wedding planner so I worked from home. Joey worked in a lucrative company and hated the idea of me going to do the same.
Who was going to take care of the house? Besides, he wanted his wife to be her own boss. And I really liked it as well.
If not that I had wedding planning and planning bachelorettes as a side job, I would have probably lost my mind having to stay home all day, every day of the week.
Joey and I had been married for eight months and it had been great so far. He was a good husband but quite a workaholic.
Because he wasn't around most of the times, it made me feel lonely some times. It wasn't what I signed up for but it was his passion and it was good pay as well.
He had landed the job exactly two months after our wedding when we just arrived from our honeymoon. It was his dream job! He couldn't say no. Neither could I.
<<<
I woke up to the loud ringing of my phone. Groggily, I picked it up and heard Joey's irritated voice on the phone.
"Where on earth did you keep your phone Kara?"
"Oh I'm sorry I was asleep and.."
He interrupted, "I called you thrice already. Anyways, Julian is already waiting at the airport. You need to go pick him up. I left my car today so you could do that. Please go?"
"Yes. Of course. Right away," I replied.
The line went dead and I stared at the phone screen. Shit! How hadn't I heard him calling before then? I knew how much he hated having to call a person and they didn't pick up.
Oh my, I had overslept.
I planned to sleep for an hour but ended up sleeping for more than three!
I had gone back to bed after putting the house in order and attending to a few emails. And by then it was 8:15 am when my head hit the pillows.
Now, it was 11:30am.
I hadn't even had my bath.
I dashed to the bathroom to run a quick shower.
Twenty minutes later, I was tying my long jet black curly hair in a messy bun and dabbing some perfume to the back of my ears as well as wrist. I had slipped on some blue baggy jeans, a white crop T-shirt and sandals on my feet.
My face was makeup free except some gloss I put over my small rounded lips. I searched frantically for Joey's car keys before finding them on the dining table.
After locking the doors, I got into the car and hit the road.
It took me an additional ten minutes to reach the airport. Before now, I had received a text message from an unknown number who turned out to be Joey's brother, Julian. He had given me details about where exactly he was.
I pulled up to the curb side, seeing him standing with his bags waiting outside the terminal. I didn't want to go through the stress of trying to park so I had asked that he waited for me there.
Wait. Were all those luggage his or it belonged to someone else?
I got down to help him put the bags in the trunk of the car. I came face to face with the guy I had only seen in pictures but never met physically. I was about 5 foot 5 inches tall and he was nine inches taller than me.
He was wearing a black T-shirt that clung to his built body over a black jean and had a chain over his neck.
He had a slight resemblance to Joey even though they were fraternal twins.
He had honey brown curly hair shaved at the sides in contrast to Joey's blonde hair. He had blue piercing eyes while Joey's were brown.
Joey had a light stubble but his was kept clean shaven. They had the same face shape, chiseled jawline, pointed nose and heart shaped pink lips. They had the same tanned skin tone but Julian appeared to be more muscular and two inches taller than Joey.
But over all, he was handsome in a striking way. Too freaking handsome. Just like Joey. I had to be honest, a little bit more than him.
He looked better than the few pictures I had seen of him in Joey's phone and he had a small silver earring worn in his left ear I hadn't noticed before now. Boy, it was sexy!
His face was set in an expression I couldn't read. Probably he was upset I had showed up too late and made him wait?
"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting. I overslept," I started.
JULIAN'S POV.
I was getting really impatient already and bit on my lip while scrolling aimlessly on Instagram to while away some time. Women and not having respect for anyone's time!
My bags had already been checked minutes ago by custom and I couldn't wait to relax. It had been a tiring 5 hour plus trip. I was coming from New York and it was my first time there, ever.
I was greeted with the warm and nice atmosphere. Always heard the place had one of the best weathers with a laid back vibe. I was looking forward to having great memories.
A message beeped on my phone and Kara told me to come wait outside the terminal which I did after cursing under my breath waiting for it to all be over.
I stood there for four minutes before a black Mercedes pulled up by the curb. A woman got down hurriedly and came over to the trunk. It was Kara, my twin brother's wife.
Wow. She looked just as pretty as she had been in the wedding photos and other photos I had seen of her. She did nothing special to her very dark curly hair and her oval shaped face was makeup free but she looked so beautiful. Too beautiful!
Her porcelain skin was smooth and even and she had the most alluring eyes I had ever seen. She was short as far I was concerned.
My eyes were quick to scan her body up and down and she had a sexy petite figure. Although in baggy trousers, I could still make out the size of her ass. Pretty big for someone of her size and her boobs were proportionate too.
Her small rounded mouth opened a bit and it moved while she said something. I caught sight of a dimple on her right cheek.
She snapped a finger over my face and this time I could make what she said.
"Hello? Did you hear me?" she asked, staring at me. She probably said something before but I wasn't paying attention as I was checking her out.
"Sorry,what?" I asked back.
"I was apologizing for being late. Hope you're not mad. I overslept."
Oh. With that soothing angelic tiny voice. I couldn't be mad anymore.
"Yeah, sure its fine. Nice to officially meet you, Kara" I stretched out my hand and she took it. Her hands were small, warm and soft.
"Nice to finally meet you too. Welcome to San Diego!" She said with a hint of smile on her face. "Um, are these all your bags?" She continued, looking down at them.
"Yeah why?"
"How long are you staying?"
"Who knows?" I shrugged and started putting them in the trunk. She hesitated a little but helped me as it was prohibited to park there. Now wasn't the time for chit chat. After we got all the bags in, I got into the passenger's seat and buckled my seatbelt.
She got in and had her seatbelt on as well. After putting the key in, the engine roared and she hit the brakes.

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

“You’re soaking wet, Genevieve. Tell me, was it me that made you this way or him?” his voice told her to be careful with her answer. His knuckles slid down through her folds and she threw her head back as she moaned. “Weakness?”

Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

She shoved me again. Harder.
"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.
