Introduction
She was wrong.
Within hours of arriving, Elena finds the body of seventeen-year-old Chloe Martinez washed up on the beach. The neighbors whisper about accidents and runaways, but Elena's trained eye sees the truth - this was murder.
Dr. Ryan Archer has spent five years keeping dangerous secrets in Moonfall Bay. When the beautiful ex-cop moves in across from his clinic, he knows his carefully built walls are about to fall. He's watched too many girls disappear, treated too many suspicious injuries, and stayed quiet too long. Now he must choose between his life and his conscience.
Sheriff Marcus Daniels has ruled Moonfall Bay for twenty years through fear and blood money. His fish processing plant is a front for something much darker - a human trafficking operation that has claimed thirty-seven young lives. When Elena starts asking questions, Marcus knows she has to die before she breaks everything he's built.
But Elena Santos isn't just any detective. She's part of a federal task team that's been tracking the trafficking ring for months. As the trap closes around Marcus, Elena finds herself stuck between a corrupt sheriff who wants her dead and a tortured doctor who might be her only ally.
In a town where trust is deadly and love is dangerous, Elena must discover the truth before she becomes the next body to wash up on Moonfall Bay's blood-soaked shores.
Some secrets are worth killing for. Others are worth dying to reveal.
A heart-pounding thriller where justice and romance clash in the deadliest of waters.
Chapter 1
Elena's POV
The phone rang at 3 AM, jolting me awake in my empty Los Angeles apartment.
"Detective Santos, we found another body," my partner Mike's voice crackled through the speaker. "Same killer, same pattern."
I sat up, my heart beating. This was the seventh victim in three months. Seven families destroyed while we chased ghosts. "Where?"
"Downtown. But Elena..." Mike's voice dropped to a whisper. "The captain says we're off the job. Orders from above."
My blood turned cold. "What do you mean, off the case?"
"Someone doesn't want us digging deeper. Someone with power."
I hung up and stared at the ceiling. Ten years as a cop, and I'd never felt so helpless. The system I'd trusted was broken. The people I'd believed in had sold out.
That was six months ago. Now I was driving my beat-up Honda up the twisting coastal road to Moonfall Bay, my German Shepherd Max panting in the backseat. The salty ocean air filled my lungs as I rolled down the windows.
"We're starting over, boy," I told Max, scratching his ears. "No more corrupt friends. No more dead bodies. Just quiet cases like lost cats and cheating husbands."
The town appeared around a bend like something from a picture. White Victorian houses sat on cliffs overlooking a peaceful bay. Fishing boats bobbed in the water. It looked great. Too perfect.
I parked in front of Betty's Bakery and stepped out, stretching my tired muscles. The long drive from LA had taken twelve hours, but I'd needed time to think. Time to figure out who I was without a badge.
"You must be the new private investigator," a cheerful voice called out.
I turned to see a round woman in her sixties wiping flour-covered hands on her apron. Her kind eyes crinkled when she smiled.
"Betty Morrison," she said, offering a warm hand. "Welcome to Moonfall Bay. I'm so glad someone finally rented that office upstairs."
"Elena Santos," I answered, shaking her hand. "Thank you for holding it for me."
"Oh honey, nobody wanted it before you called. People around here prefer to handle their problems quietly." Betty's smile weakened slightly. "Sometimes too quietly."
Before I could ask what she meant, Max started barking furiously inside the car. His hackles were raised, and he was looking at something across the street.
"Max, what's wrong?" I opened the car door and he jumped out, still barking.
That's when I saw him.
A tall guy in a doctor's coat stood in the doorway of the medical clinic across the street. He had light brown hair and tired blue eyes behind wire-rimmed glasses. But it wasn't his appearance that made my detective senses scream. It was the way he was watching me.
His face was carefully blank, but I caught the flash of fear in his eyes when he saw me looking back. Real fear. The kind that comes from having something terrible to hide.
"That's Dr. Archer," Betty said, following my eyes. "Wonderful man. Came here about five years ago from the big city, just like you. Keeps to himself mostly."
The doctor raised his hand in a small wave, then quickly disappeared back inside his office. Max finally stopped barking, but his ears stayed alert.
"Strange," I muttered. "Max usually loves doctors."
"Animals know things we don't," Betty said softly. "Your dog's got good senses. Keep him close."
Another vague warning. In less than five minutes, two people had hinted that Moonfall Bay wasn't as peaceful as it looked. My cop brain started working automatically, filing away information.
Betty helped me take my boxes upstairs to the small office that would be my new home base. It had two rooms - a front office with a desk and chairs, and a back room with a cot where I could sleep if needed. The windows faced the street, giving me a great view of the medical clinic.
"The previous tenant left in a hurry," Betty noted, pointing to some papers scattered on the floor. "Real estate agent. Nice young man named David Chen. One day he was here, next day he was gone. Didn't even take his things."
I bent down to gather the papers, and my blood froze. They weren't real estate papers. They were missing person reports. Seven of them. All young women. All vanished from Moonfall Bay over the past twenty years.
"Betty," I said slowly, "what happened to these girls?"
Betty's face went pale. "Oh my. David must have been... researching area history. Those are old cases. All ruled accidents or runaways."
"Seven accidents?" I studied the photos. Pretty girls, all between sixteen and nineteen. All worked at the same place - Daniels Fish Processing Plant. "The cliffs are dangerous," Betty said quickly. "And young people sometimes make bad choices. Sheriff Daniels always said-" "Sheriff Daniels?" I looked up sharply.
"Marcus Daniels. His family runs the fish plant. They've run this town for generations. Good people. Pillars of the community."
But Betty's hands were shaking as she spoke, and she wouldn't meet my eyes.
I was about to ask more questions when Max started growling again. I looked out the window and saw a black SUV parked across the street. The windows were darkened too dark to see inside, but I could feel someone watching me.
"Who's that?" I asked.
Betty glanced out and quickly stepped away from the window. "I... I should get back to the kitchen. Dinner rush, you know."
She hurried out, leaving me alone with seven missing person reports and a growing belief that I hadn't escaped trouble by coming to Moonfall Bay.
I'd driven straight into it.
The black SUV's engine started, and it slowly drove away. But I had the feeling whoever was inside had seen everything they needed to see.
My phone buzzed with a text from an unknown number: "Welcome to Moonfall Bay, Detective Santos. Some secrets should stay buried."
My hands shook as I read the message again. Nobody here knew I was a detective. I'd told Betty I was a private detective. So who had sent this?
And how did they get my number?

After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
Oops, Wrong Girl to Bully
My back hit the desk. Pain exploded through my skull.
"Girls like you don't get to dream about guys like Kai." Bella's breath was hot on my face. "You don't get to write pathetic love letters."
She shoved me again. Harder.
"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.
Someone... please...

"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."

Alpha Twins' Mate's broken Human
A Lesson in Magic
Claimed by the Alpha's Love
Four years ago, Fiona's meticulously planned conspiracy turned me from an ordinary omega into a prisoner carrying the weight of a murder charge.
Four years later, I return to a world that has changed beyond recognition.
My best friend Fiona, who is also my stepsister, has become the perfect daughter in my mother's eyes. And my ex-boyfriend, Ethan, is about to hold a high-profile mating ceremony with her.
The love, family bonds, and reputation that I once cherished have all been taken by Fiona.
Just when I had reached my breaking point, questioning the very purpose of my existence, the legendary Alpha Lucas of Moonhaven suddenly appeared in my life.
He is powerful and enigmatic, a figure that all werewolves hold in awe.
Yet, he shows an extraordinary persistence and tenderness towards me.
Is Lucas's appearance a gift from fate, or the start of another conspiracy?
Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
The Forbidden Throb
Mine changed in the time it took to open a door.
Behind it: my fiancé Nicholas with another woman.
Three months until our wedding. Three seconds to watch it all burn.
I should have run. Should have screamed. Should have done anything except stand there like a fool.
Instead, I heard the devil himself whisper in my ear:
"If you're willing, I could marry you."
Daniel. The brother I was warned about. The one who made Nicholas look like a choir boy.
He leaned against the wall, watching my world implode.
My pulse thundered. "What?"
"You heard me." His eyes burned into mine. "Marry me, Emma."
But as I stared into those magnetic eyes, I realized something terrifying:
I wanted to say yes to him.
Game on.
