Introduction
After my explanation, Aldahir looked at me with confusion and a bit of concern, which made me think he was probably mentally seeing a horrific image involving Charles and I.
-I wouldn’t have sex with Charles
Born to fulfil a destiny she never wanted, Dhalia Wards, a werewolf will decide to ignore her responsibilities, tradition and the wishes of her parents and her pack to instead forge her own path and follow her heart while trying to stay alive.
Chapter 1
A long and tired howl in the distance woke me up suddenly, I opened my eyes as slow as possible and with a lot of laziness, then I stretched my body slightly until I turned around and ended up laying on my back watching the leaves of the tree over me dancing in the wind, I let out a sigh along with a smile when I saw his arm wrapped around my waist and I grabbed my cellphone.
-Aldahir – I said shaking him violently
He let out a grunt, clearly annoyed because I was waking him up, and he turned around removing his arm from my body and dragging the blanket that was over us with him, I rolled my eyes and turned on the lantern from my phone to then move the light in front of his eyes.
-Couldn’t you find a nicer way to wake me up? – He asked while grunting and sitting down allowing me to see his naked upper body
-I would some other day, get up we have to go – I said turning off the light
Aldahir let out another grunt – very similar to a growl – but he turned around and started picking up his clothes so he could get dress, he stopped suddenly and looked at me with a mix of fear and worry in his eyes.
-We should have been back, three hours ago! – He exclaimed with his brown eyes wide open
-Yes, just leave it – I said knocking his shirt out of his hand – let’s hide our things in the log we always use, we’ll get them tomorrow
We picked up our clothes, the blanket and our cellphones and put them inside an old hollow log, immediately after I transformed into a wolf and used my tail to hit Aldahir telling him to hurry up, he copied my action and transformed himself into a white wolf with yellow eyes. Right after he ran through the forest heading to my house.
We went into the house through one of the many side doors that was always open and walked as quiet as our paws allowed us to on the ceramic floor. Once we got to my bedroom I transformed back into a human and closed the door letting out a sigh of relief, when I turned around I saw Aldahir back into is human form standing in front of me with one of my favorite sweaters in his hand, I grabbed the sweater with a smile and while I put it on he went through a shelf in my closet were I kept some of his clothes.
-See you tomorrow? – He asked coming up to me once we were fully clothed
I nodded with a smile and leaned towards him kissing his lips while one of my hands went to his gray ish hair, he smiled half way through the kiss and grabbed my face with both of his hands moving out of his way a blue strand of hair. When we pulled apart we smiled at each other and a second later he jumped out the window, I immediately closed it and throw myself on my bed with a smile from ear to ear.
A few hours later my mother, a particularly annoying woman with an insane talent to irritate me, started to intensely knocking on my door.
-Good morning – I welcomed her opening the door and making my best effort to smile
She gave a barely noticeable smile and walk inside to then sit down on my bed, as soon as she sat down she arranged her insanely long black hair – too long in my opinion – over her right shoulder and looked at me, I simply stared back waiting for her to speak to me.
-I am going to ignore the fact that you did not spend the night here – said giving me her “I disapprove” look
-I appreciate it – I said avoiding her eyes
-You have to be in the main lounge after lunch, your three suitors will present you with gifts for your birthday, most likely and item of clothing or jewelry, you will then have around an hour alone with each one of them, after you will return to the lounge wearing the gift of the suitor you have chosen…
-As my life partner – I cut her off talking through my teeth, which made my mother growl at me being very annoyed at my reaction – I know what I have to do, you have only told me about it about a thousand times, you also know that I think this whole thing is bullshit, just because I was born into one of the so called pure blooded families I’m forced to keep said line clean… I guess I should consider myself lucky, at least I’m not marrying my cousin
In a matter of seconds my mother was standing in front of me with her brown eyes starting to glow in a slight green color, I backed away from her putting my head down to avoid making eye contact with her while trying my hardest not to transform into my black wolf form and jump at her. I have always been way more confident on myself as a wolf.
-Dhalia, you had the honor of being born in our family – she started talking and walked away from me – the birth mark you and your brother have sets you apart from the rest, makes you superior and you know that
-Why do you still talk about my brother as if he were still alive?
As soon as the words leave my mouth she brings her hands to her chest, as if I had just punched her and steps away from my violently.
-Have you forgotten he was murdered almost ten years ago?
-Dhalia – I heard my father’s voice suddenly
-I’m sorry – I apologized to both of them – now if you would allow it, I want to enjoy my last day of freedom
-Why do you have to be so dramatic? You have three suitors, your brother didn’t have the opportunity to choose
-You’re right, I have the opportunity to choose with who I will spend the rest of my life with, is truly perfect; if we ignore the fact that this is nothing more but an arranged union in order to keep our blood line pure and clean and there are zero romantic feelings involved… I really am lucky – I said annoyed
I didn’t stay long enough to see their reaction, I turned around and headed to the training area of the town with the intention of running in to Aldahir so we could go back to the forest and get our things. I walked through the halls of our house – or maybe I should say mansion – running into many people, including Alisha, the youngest daughter of the Izmair family.
She was one of the people that I could “choose” from, she was three months older than me and really attractive with her tan skin, short blonde hair and dark eyes.
-Hi! – She said hugging me, which I reciprocated with a little discomfort – I was hoping to see you before the ceremony tomorrow, happy early birthday Dali! – she said giving me a little blue box
I accepted the box smiling softly with the discomfort growing by the second and opened it under her expecting look, inside the little box I found a wooden pendant on the shape of my birth mark and my tattoo; I slowly analyzed the pendant shaped as a crescent moon with a four-point star nearly completing the round shape of the moon.
-Thank you, Alisha, is really pretty – I said smiling at her
-I’m not trying to bribe you into choosing me tomorrow I swear, I just wanted to remind you that no matter what happens you’ll still have me as a friend, and future aunt to your children if you end up choosing my brother – she said laughing
Her words made me laugh taking away some of the weight from my shoulders and I hugged her, thanking her yet again, when we pulled apart we smiled at each other and went on our own way.
I kept on looking for Aldahir while mentally going through all the reason why I was even in the position I was. I was a werewolf, I lived in a town where every single person living there was also a werewolf, said town was called “Loup Ville”, roughly translating to Wolf Town – I always appreciated the irony of the name – which was located in The British Columbia near the Ancient Forest.
The reason why I was a werewolf – according to what I had been always told – had to do with the people who lived in Loup Ville centuries before us, they were either cursed or blessed, with some sort of genetic mutation which allowed them to transform into wolves. Ever since that first generation with the mutation was created they swore to honor their new found ability by not mixing their blood with people without the wolf mutation, they decided to do it by only having descendants within the six families that were given the mutation. Those six families were the Dupin’s, the Lamberd’s, the Kunt’s, the Hunt’s, the Izmair’s and my own, the Ward’s.
That promise to keep the bloodline pure or clean evolved into a formal union – marriage – between two members of each family. The first born of each generation would be marked with a tattoo of a four-point star at sixteen years old to “complete” our birth marks, they then would wait until turning twenty-one to choose their partner, who also had to be twenty-one or older.

On Christmas Eve, I aborted the CEO's child
On Christmas Eve night, my husband brought his mistress home and demanded that I, his pregnant wife, leave with nothing.
On this day, I lost my husband and also lost the child in my womb...
I Loved You in Silence, You Betrayed Me in French
At my birthday party, my husband whispered to his mistress in French that he missed her. His voice was low, but I heard it all—the black lingerie, the bit about how pregnancy makes you more sensitive. His French clients around us were laughing. He turned and put his arm around me, claiming he was just helping his clients come up with sweet nothings.
He doesn't know I understand every single word. Just like he doesn't know that inside my body, I'm carrying his other surprise. And his mistress—she's pregnant too. Two wombs, one secret.
Confrontation would be too cheap. Tears are worthless. I quietly started cataloging the hidden networks my father left behind, activating the Swiss accounts.
In seven days, Zoey Smith will cease to exist. And what will my husband's reaction be?
When I Disappeared, He Regretted It
The moment the screen lit up, my entire world came crashing down.
The woman on the bed was Calista - that girl who grew up with us since we were kids. And that hand caressing her skin was wearing the wedding ring I had personally put on Matteo's finger.
"I've missed you so much..."
"You drive me crazy, baby..."
Those sweet words I knew so well completely destroyed me.
Everyone said we were the perfect couple, but who knew this marriage was built on nothing but lies?
Since he's so good at acting, I guess it's time I gave him a show of my own. I'm going to make sure everyone sees what this "perfect husband" really is...
The Family Sacrifice
I simply said one word: "Okay."
My parents and Gilbert were stunned. They rushed to have me sign the voluntary donation form, afraid I’d change my mind.
Some days later, they sent me to the operating room.
Dad said, "Yvonne will finally be saved. We're so proud of you."
Mom said, "After the surgery, we'll make it up to you."
Gilbert looked tenderly at Yvonne and said, "When you're better, where should we travel?"
What they didn't know was that the day I agreed, I'd just received my diagnosis, stage four cancer. Three months to live.
As I lay on the cold operating table, as the anesthesia began to take effect, I only wanted to know one thing:
If I die on this operating table, will they regret it?
He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me gone—so his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
Falling for my boyfriend's Navy brother
"What is wrong with me?
Why does being near him make my skin feel too tight, like I’m wearing a sweater two sizes too small?
It’s just newness, I tell myself firmly.
He’s my boyfirend’s brother.
This is Tyler’s family.
I’m not going to let one cold stare undo that.

**
I hate girls like her.
Entitled.
Delicate.
And still—
Still.
The image of her standing in the doorway, clutching her cardigan tighter around her narrow shoulders, trying to smile through the awkwardness, won’t leave me.
Neither does the memory of Tyler. Leaving her here without a second thought.
I shouldn’t care.
I don’t care.
It’s not my problem if Tyler’s an idiot.
It’s not my business if some spoiled little princess has to walk home in the dark.
I’m not here to rescue anyone.
Especially not her.
Especially not someone like her.
She’s not my problem.
And I’ll make damn sure she never becomes one.
But when my eyes fell on her lips, I wanted her to be mine.
Alpha Nicholas's Little Mate
What? No—wait… oh Moon Goddess, no.
Please tell me you're joking, Lex.
But she's not. I can feel her excitement bubbling under my skin, while all I feel is dread.
We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.
And then, just as quickly… he sees me.
His expression twists.
"Fuck no."
He turns—and runs.
