Introduction

In every kingdom there are stories told as myths, but in the kingdom of Genevia, the stories told about the infamous, ruthless son of the king, Prince Tegan, of his insatiable appetite and desires is one enough to bring men to their knees. For it is one which knows no family nor bear a name.

It is said that Tegan is Lucifer himself in a flesh, for the darkness that lies in his eyes is one feared amongst every clan and kingdoms. Well, that is until he meets Mayila, whom is neither a royal nor possess any sort of magical powers like the rest of the clans, yet, there is something else that drives Tegan closer to Mayila.

Some say it may be because of her curves.

With the two, from different and opposite sides of a coin, Tegan is brought to realize that there are evil lurking around the corners. Evils which are worse than his insatiable appetite which he deemed the worst of all cruelty, especially when he and Mayila's relationship began to grow more than just common side glances.

Chapter 1

Every kingdom has words that are told as myths. So as every king with his own tale. Nevertheless, when it came to the kingdom of Genevia, such words are not merely myths, but truth embedded in it.

“Mother, where are we going?” Mayila inquired from her mother, having seen the haste the middle aged woman was in, while she packed their belongings. Mayila’s mother, Aurora stoped in her actions, looking down at her ten year old daughter, whom is neither naive, nor unwise not to notice the distress she went through.

“I’m sorry Mayila, we have to leave.” Aurora told her daughter, squatting down to reach her.

“Why do we have to leave mother?” Mayila, unaware of the troubles that lurked on their doors, questioned her mother.

“Because Mayila, there are very dangerous people after us.” Aurora spoke to her.

“But…why? We didn’t do anything to them.” Mayila who could not comprehend her mother’s words spoke childishly.

“They don’t care about that, my precious girl.” Aurora furthered with her daughter, while her fingers went to caress the skin on her cheek. “Listen to me very carefully Mayila, you are growing up, and as you do, it pains me that you have to prepare yourself for days where I might not be there to tell you what to do,” Aurora voiced to her daughter, with her gaze vivid on her.

“Mother…” Mayila’s words come unfinished, with her mother who passed her a weak smile before caressing the thick, curly black hair that stayed on her head.

“No matter what you do Mayila, do not ever let them know what you are.” Aurora now spoke sternly, while she stared deeply at the young girl.

“But…what am I?” Perplexed even more by her mothers words, Mayila asked.

“In time you will know, but whatever you do Mayila, do not ever let them have a taste of your blood. Do not let them drink from you like they drink from others. Do you hear me?” Aurora warned her daughter solemnly, whereas Mayila continued to stare unwaveringly.

“I don’t understand what you mean mother…I’m sacred…”

“Don’t be scared Mayila, from now on you have to be brave. If the clans know about you they will do anything to have you. You are destined for great things my dear child, do not let anyone cut it short. Do you hear me Mayila?” Aurora with fear clearly showcased in her eyes spoke, which made Mayila to have gulped down hard.

“Do you hear me Mayila!” Aurora’s voice raised prominently, that Mayila had no choice but to began nodding her head repeatedly. It took nothing more for Mayila to have realized thatwhat was going on was bigger than both she and her mother, especially when her mother turned to her one last time with their luggages in one hand, and the other holding Mayila’s hand with hers. The two females packed the rest of the belongings before they exited the house they once lived and into the forest, at the dark hour of the night.

From the hooting sound of the owls, to the flying of bats over their heads, one which brought shivers down Mayila’s skin, while her mother looked left to right at every sections with fear evident in her heart, still yet, Aurora proceeded in their movements, until the creaking of sticks became prominent to their ears.

“Mother…did you hear that?” Mayila, whose heart kept beating like that of a festive drum spoke.

“Shhh…keep your voice down.” Aurora told her daughter with not even a gaze turned to her, whereas it is fixed at the shadows she saw moving in the dark. “Let’s keep walking.” Aurora added, as the two continued to walk but did not get far, as a gusty wind began to surround them, causing Mayila whom had her hand entangled with her mother’s, gripped tighter.

“Mayila, when I tell you run, you run. Do you understand me?” Aurora turned to her daughter upon having seen the depth at the increment of the wind, which was beginning to form a presence.

“Mother I’m scared…” Mayila who is just a child, began to have tears rolled down her eyes, as her hand griped with her mother’s, trembled.

“What did I tell you Mayila…it is time for you to be brave, just like the story of the little Ohana that I told you about.” Aurora managed to send a weak smile to her daughter, as no matter what words of encouragement she sent to her daughter, it did not avert the fate which awaited her, whereas Mayila nodded her head negatively at the conclusion of where her mother’s words were heading.

The blinding wind eventually came to a stop, as one will have thought it would calm the fear in the two’s heart, rather it only intensified the tension, upon the emergence of the creature from the wind that now stood in front of them. Mayila, never in her entire existence seen a creature as monstrous as the one in front of her, having horns as thick of a cow, and head shaped in terms of an (…), whereas it held a very sharp blade in its hands.

Fear an understatement in Aurora and her daughter, for if they thought the vampires and werewolves whom lived among them were scary when hungry or on a full moon, what stood in front of them laid even intently terrifying.

“Run Mayila. Run!” Aurora on the pitch of her voice said, as she made attempt to remove her entanglement from her daughter, one which Mayila hesitated to let go off. “Go Mayila!” Aurora faced her daughter squarely, as the young girl became even more terrified at the fear in her mothers eyes, along with the tears that run down her eyes. “Run and don’t look back. I love you, always remember that.” Aurora spoke her last words to daughter, as she forcefully removed the tiny fingers of her daughter away, before she watched her only child run at the authority of her words, with each of Mayila’s step coming with a sob that her mother hears vividly.

“Run Mayila. Run!“ Aurora repeated her words, as painful tears strolled down her eyes, for the next thing she felt with her gaze on her daughter having moved far away, is the swinging of the sharp blade pierced through her back and erupted in her stomach, that she fell to her knees with blood oozed out of her mouth impatiently.

“Run…mayila…Run…” And those remained the last words of Aurora, as when she sights no presence of her daughter, a triumphant smile makes its way to her lips, for even she was caught, she made sure Mayila would never have to face such a terrible death as she did. But still yet, she might have prevented one death away from her daughter’s head, it was left fro Mayila to prevent the thousands that will come in future.
