Introduction

I was nothing but a wolfless omega—a slave in the Mistveil pack, invisible to everyone except as a target for their cruelty. For years, I secretly dreamed of Drary Vesper, the alpha’s son, believing he could be my escape. But when the Moon Goddess revealed he was my fated mate, he didn’t embrace me. He rejected me. Publicly. Brutally. In front of the entire pack and his vicious lover, Gwendolyn.

That night, drowning in pain and my first heat, I stumbled into the one man I should have avoided: Axel Vesper. The ruthless, silver-eyed Alpha who rules with an iron fist and is rumored to have killed his own wife. He’s cold, commanding, and twice my age. He’s also Drary’s father.

One night of vulnerability changed everything. Now, my body is changing in ways I don’t understand, and someone is poisoning me from the shadows. When Gwendolyn tries to burn me alive, my wolf finally awakens—not to save me for Drary, but to deliver me into the hands of a rival pack... and a mysterious man with warm golden eyes who looks at me like I’m something precious.

But Axel hasn’t forgotten me. And in a world where alphas rule and omegas are discarded, the most dangerous monster of all might just be the one who wants to claim me as his.

Chapter 1

Thallyne's POV

"Fuck, I'm gonna cum Drary! Yes, baby, fuck me like that. Fuck!"

Moans echoed from the room in front of me and I winced. I always wondered what it would be like to be fucked by Drary. I had a crush on him ever since I was sold off here as a slave and for some reason, I always wanted him to notice me. I wanted him to take my innocence, I wanted to be like those girls he brought home every day.

But I knew better. Why would Drary notice a wolfless omega like me? Drary Vesper wasn't just a regular werewolf; he was one of the most important alphas in Mistveil, and that was naturally because of his father. The thought of his father sent shivers running down my spine when I remembered how scary he was. No one could ever go near him.

I even heard he killed his wife-

A slap sent me out of my thoughts and I crashed to the ground from how hard I got smacked. My palms scraped the tiles and blood dripped from my hand due to the effect as I cried out in pain.

"What are you busy fantasizing about? Fucking clean up Drary's room, you useless idiot." I heard her say, and I recognized her as the one who was screaming Drary's name earlier.

Gwendolyn. Drary's favorite fuckmate. The lady of the mansion.

"I'm sorry, I got distracted," I muttered as I got off the ground and she scoffed.

"I wonder what a fool like you is doing here. If I were you, I would jump off a cliff and end my life. You're literally so useless." She spat and brushed past me, bumping her shoulder against mine on purpose. I stumbled backward but still kept my head down as I made my way to Drary's room.

It was time to clean up the "mess" they made from their moments of pleasure.

My head was low as I pushed the door open, my eyes trained on the floor.

"Thallyne."

I jolted in shock when I heard Drary call my name, my head snapping up to see him lying lazily on the bed. My throat immediately ran dry as the sight of his bare chest graced my eyes and I let out a shaky breath.

"A-alpha Drary..." I managed to stutter as I returned my gaze to the floor. I could get executed for looking at him this way. Most especially, Gwendolyn would kill me and accuse me of trying to seduce her man. I didn't want to think of the consequences of that.

"Look at me, why are you so shy?" He asked softly but I kept my gaze on the floor even as I trembled. All the times I had come here to clean up his room, he was never here. What did he suddenly want from me?

"I'm sorry, Alpha, I'll come back when you're done-"

"Stay." His voice stopped me in my tracks when I tried to move, and I froze. He moved off the bed and came right in front of me, causing my breath to hitch. His body was so perfectly sculpted and all I wanted to do was run my hands through his abs. To know what they felt like.

He smelled like leather and oakwood, and it took everything in my bones not to lean into him. He leaned closer until his face was close to mine, and every breath in my lungs got knocked out. Goddess, he was handsome.

"You smell like strawberries and roses." He muttered softly as his nose nuzzled over my neck gently, and I bit down on my lips till they drew blood. What the hell was going on? He never noticed me, so why now?

"A-alpha-"

"Call me Drary. You smell so fucking seductive. Are you trying to seduce me, Thallyne?" He questioned softly and my heart pounded as I took a step back. He followed me with a smirk until my back hit the wall.

In one swift move, he grabbed my hands and hoisted them over my head. A soft sound, almost like a whimper, escaped my lips and I found myself wanting more. I had dreamt and fantasized about this for years.

"I'm not seducing you... I only came here to clean." I managed to sound convincing but my voice wouldn't stop shaking. He tsked in amusement, burying his nose in my neck again and I stifled back a moan. It felt weirdly good.

"I see the way you look at me, Thallyne. You want me. And fuck, by the heavens, I want you too. I want to-"

The door suddenly burst open, and my eyes widened in horror when Gwendolyn stepped in, shock evident in her expression.

Goddess help me, I was fucked.

I immediately pushed Drary off me and he shot Gwen a smile before walking away, leaving me with just Gwen in the room. He didn't even try to protect me when he was the one who started all this!

"My lady, it's not what you think-"

My words were cut short when she stormed over to me and slapped me so hard I felt my brain shift. I coughed up blood, but she wasn't done yet. Grabbing my hair harshly, she made me look at her and I could see the murderous intent in her eyes.

She was definitely going to kill me.

"You fucking bastard! You useless slut! Throwing yourself at my man? Do you even know how disgusting you are?" She spat in anger and I started to beg, rubbing my hands together in plea. My scalp burned from how hard she pulled my hair but she didn't let go.

"It's not what you think, my lady, I promise, I didn't try to throw myself at him! He was the one-"

Another slap silenced me at once. Then another. Until my cheeks numbed and I could barely register the pain. Tears spilled down my cheeks in torrents but Gwen wasn't done with me. I was sure she wouldn't stop until she killed me.

How the fuck was it my fault that her man found me attractive even in my maid attire? Why was she lashing out at me and not him?

"Today, you'll learn of the consequences of messing with me and trying to seduce my man." She growled and I gave up on trying to explain that her man was the one who was seducing me.

If it helped her sleep at night, then so be it. If she was going to kill me, then she should, it would end my suffering quickly anyway.

When she saw that I wasn't struggling anymore and just stared into the air blankly, that seemed to piss her off even more. She grabbed me by my hair and slammed me into the wall, sending a head-splitting kind of pain through me.

My vision blurred as I slid down the wall. I could only hear ringing in my ears, and I felt blood trickle down from my head to my pink maid dress. This definitely had to be my end.

I was dying for something I had no control over. Why was I surprised? My own parents had sold me off when I was just a child; I had no memories of them whatsoever, and they left me to die.

How was it going to be any different?

"Stupid bitch," was the last thing I heard as I finally succumbed to the darkness I had been fighting to get away from.

I gasped into him, his hand sliding up to cup my jaw, holding me as if afraid I might vanish.
"You drive me insane," he breathed against my mouth, his lips trailing to my throat. "I can't lose you, Ella. Not you."
My head fell back, a soft sound escaping me as his fingers memorized my waist. My anger melted beneath his desperation.
"James..." I whispered, more plea than protest.
His hand caught mine, fingers threading together tightly. "I'll bring him back. I swear it. Just... don't turn away from me. Please."
The word please—low, ragged, almost broken—undid me more than anything else could have.

"Ten years of atonement, and you flee?"

His fangs glinted as he gripped my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze. Dragon scales shimmered along his neck, breath scorching my skin.

"Your Majesty... I beg—" He shoved me onto the bed. Silk tore with a sharp rip, cold air rushing over my exposed body.

"Scared?" He smirked, palm sliding down my waist, fingers tracing slow, burning circles. "Yet you shiver... not from cold."

I lunged for the candlestick, but he caught my wrist, pinning it overhead. His knee forced my legs apart.

"When your father gave you to me," his lips brushed my ear, voice a dark rumble, "you were already mine."
