Since then, her medical prowess has become unmatched worldwide, her coding skills have shaken the international stage, and her wealth rivals that of nations.
When her biological father and stepmother force her to take her stepsister’s place in marriage to the scarred, short-lived head of the powerful Howard Family—— ——
mocking that “even widowhood will make her rich beyond dreams”—
She replies with a cold smile:
“Mountains of gold and silver? They’re not even worthy of sharing a single dinner with me.”
On their wedding night, the man rumored to have only three months left to live grips her wrist tightly.
Beneath his horrific burns lies a breathtakingly handsome face:
“Madam, your talents may reach the heavens, but don’t think you can ever escape my grasp.”
Chapter 1
"Make me marry into the Howard Family in Lenora's place? In your dreams!"
Victoria Getty, who had just been brought back to the Getty Family, never imagined she'd hear such an absurd demand.
Her father Felix Getty nervously wrung his hands and started playing the victim: "Victoria, just think of it as helping out the family. That fortune teller insisted our daughter would bring good luck. Your sister Lenora is already pregnant with Mr. Kennedy's child—we can't possibly send her... If there were any other way, I wouldn't want you to suffer!Worst case, I'll go to the Howards myself and face whatever comes."
"Then go ahead and do it," Victoria said coldly, watching Felix perform his distress with nothing but contempt.
If Felix were really a loving father,he wouldn't have packed her and Camila off to the countryside the day Bianca arrived and kept them there.
Fortunately, when Victoria was eight and nearly died from a high fever, she unexpectedly awakened a superpower.
What took others years came to her in an afternoon.. Over the years, if she hadn't used that gift to teach herself medicine, finance, programming, whatever survival demanded she and Camila would have died long ago.
"Victoria, don't be ungrateful!" Bianca crossed her arms, her perfectly made-up face showing undisguised disgust. "The Howards are old money. This is your one shot. So he's dying so what? You'll be rich and free. Where's the problem?
Bianca looked Victoria up and down, the disgust on her face deepening. Bianca's eyes said it all just like her mother. She had deliberately cut them off from Felix, dumped them in the countryside, and waited for them to be ruined.
And yet she turned out so stunning. Porcelain skin, those wide, dark eyes that held a man's gaze before he knew what was happening..If William Howard hadn't been disfigured and given a year to live, someone like Victoria would never have been considered for this at all.
Victoria almost laughed out loud.
Her brain was her greatest treasure.
Her medical skills were unmatched, and the international coding community had been built in part on work they didn't even know was hers.. The Howard fortune couldn't buy an hour of her attention.
"If you like it so much, why don't you marry him? After all, stealing other women's husbands is your specialty, isn't it?" Victoria looked up, her gaze cutting across Bianca's smug face.
"You little brat! How dare you talk to your mother like that!"
Felix's hand moved before his mouth did.
A bright red handprint immediately appeared on Victoria's delicate face.
She tilted her head, pressed her tongue against the inside of her cheek, and turned back to face them.
Though she was young, the fierceness in her eyes made Bianca freeze for a moment.
It took Bianca a while to recover. She threw several photos at Victoria. "Look at these, then decide whether you want to throw your tantrum."
In the photos, Camila looked so thin it hurt to look at her.
The last one clearly captured the moment she walked into the side entrance of the Howard Family estate.
The date was exactly one week before she died.
Victoria went cold then the cold broke into something white-hot.
She stared at those photos, her nails digging deep into her palms.
Three months ago, Camila was supposed to start college at Empire City but died mysteriously. Victoria had come back specifically to investigate the cause of Camila's death.
Bianca's voice dropped to something soft and deliberate."Before Camila died, she only went to the Howard Family. If you want her death to remain a mystery, you don't have to marry."
The air fell deathly silent.
A few seconds later, Victoria loosened her clenched fist. "Fine, I'll marry."
Bianca smiled triumphantly: "Wouldn't it have been easier to agree earlier? Did you have to get slapped first? Don't worry, the Howard Family won't treat you badly. At least there'll be plenty of money."
Victoria didn't look at them again. She bent down to pick up the photos and turned to go back to her room.
Closing the door, she took out some ointment she'd made herself and applied a bit to her face.
In under three seconds, the mark was gone her skin flawless, as if nothing had happened.
She would definitely find out the cause of Camila's death and make the killer pay.
As for this slap, she'd remember it too.
Early the next morning, Felix packed her into a car and sent her off without so much as a glance at what she was wearing.
The Howard Family's butler was already waiting at the door.
When Victoria got out of the car, the old butler Trevor's eyes widened in shock, and he nearly fell over.
Was the Getty Family's daughter really this ugly?

"Scared?" He smirked, palm sliding down my waist, fingers tracing slow, burning circles. "Yet you shiver... not from cold."
I lunged for the candlestick, but he caught my wrist, pinning it overhead. His knee forced my legs apart.

In a world ruled by gods and wolves, Aphrodite will become something neither ever expected.

Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
The Contract Wife: Marriage Of Malice
He didn't finish. He didn't need to.
I didn't tell him to stop.
Instead, my fingers curled into his shirt, clutching the fabric as though it was my only anchor. Something in him snapped—something he had been holding back for too long. His mouth found mine in a kiss that wasn't tender, but hungry, desperate.
I gasped into him, his hand sliding up to cup my jaw, holding me as if afraid I might vanish.
"You drive me insane," he breathed against my mouth, his lips trailing to my throat. "I can't lose you, Ella. Not you."
My head fell back, a soft sound escaping me as his fingers memorized my waist. My anger melted beneath his desperation.
"James..." I whispered, more plea than protest.
His hand caught mine, fingers threading together tightly. "I'll bring him back. I swear it. Just... don't turn away from me. Please."
The word please—low, ragged, almost broken—undid me more than anything else could have.
Ella never imagined she would marry the man she had secretly loved for years in such a way.
When her brother Theo faced twenty-five years in prison for massive embezzlement, the ruthless business tycoon James Lancaster offered her a deal: marry him in exchange for her brother's freedom.
This wasn't a fairy tale proposal, but a carefully orchestrated revenge. Because in James's heart, Ella was the culprit who had killed his sister Cecilia. He wanted her to pay the price—to atone with a lifetime of suffering.
