As Jessica learns to manage this dangerous world, she’ll find the depths of her strength, and David will face a love that might break him or set him free.
Chapter 1
Jessica’s POV
As Victor observed me, his icy grin remained unwavering. His command hung in the air like an ominous cloud, smothering all possibility of escape.
"All right, Jessica? What will it be? Victor spoke in a soothing, almost playful tone.
I looked at David and drew a trembling breath. He fixed his ferocious, unblinking gaze on mine. I couldn't leave him despite everything, including the secrets and the lies.
With a shaky but determined voice, I declared, "I won't betray him."
Victor's grin turned to a sneer instead. "Stupid girl." He looked at his guys. "Death her."
There was anarchy. David leapt to action and killed the closest guard as gunfire erupted around the room.
“Get down, Jessica!” He yelled.
As bullets flew past me, I fell to the ground, my pulse racing. David's movements were deadly and precise, and he battled like a man possessed.
Victor's troops rushed in, but David persisted. He came to me and took hold of my arm.
He urged me to stay close as he drew me to the door.
Victor's voice cut through the commotion. "Avoid letting them get away!"
More men entered the room, obstructing our way. With his gun blazing, David pushed me behind him.
"There are too many of them, David!" I sobbed.
He hissed, leaving no room for debate, "I'm not leaving without you."
Debris flew as the building was rocked by an unexpected explosion. We were able to elude the guards and enter the darkness with the help of the smoke.
The tension between us was strong and unsaid as the automobile drove through the nighttime streets. I was at my breaking point.
"What did you see back there?" I turned to David and demanded. "You were referred to as Victor's brother. Is that accurate?
David's hands gripped the steering wheel as his jaw tensed. "Jessica, not right now."
"Yes, right now!" I lost my temper. "I deserve the truth because I just put my life in danger for you."
With a groan, he kept his gaze fixed on the road. "It's difficult."
I crossed my arms and whispered, "Try me."
David shut off the engine and parked the vehicle in a quiet alley. His shoulders tensed as he sat there for a while.
"Victor is my half-brother," he finally acknowledged.
The remarks were like a kick to the stomach. "What kept you from telling me?"
His voice was harsh as he stated, "Because it doesn't matter." "I'm not related to Victor. Not in any significant way.
"It is important to me," I stated. "David, you've been hiding things. How can I be sure I can trust you?
At that moment, his eyes were filled with something I couldn't quite identify. Feeling guilty? Feeling sorry?
He muttered, "I didn't want you involved in this." "I believed that by keeping you in the dark, I could keep you safe."
"Keep me safe?" I gave a sour laugh. "Your secrets nearly led to my death tonight!"
I resisted David's attempt to take my hand. "Please, Jessica. Now I'll tell you. Allow me to explain, please.
I paused, wanting to comprehend but also feeling angry. "All right. Commence at the beginning.
David ran a hand over his hair while leaning back in his chair. Years before I was born, my father, William, had an affair with Victor's mother. Victor was devastated when he learned. He held my family responsible for everything, including his father's shortcomings, his mother's passing, and the breakdown of his own life.
"And you?" I asked quietly.
David tightened his jaw. He detested me right away. I served as a constant reminder of all he had lost. And after my mom passed away... His voice trailed off, and he inhaled deeply. "He vowed to ruin everything I held dear."
Despite my wrath, my heart ached as I gazed at him. "Therefore, this war is personal."
"Yes," David acknowledged. However, it goes beyond that. Victor's empire was founded on deceit and violence. Not just myself, but everyone is in danger from him.
"And me?" I muttered. "Am I merely a pawn in this game?"
David's gaze grew softer. "No, Jessica. You are not a pawn. The only thing that gives me hope that life is greater than this battle is you.
His meaning-laden remarks lingered in the atmosphere. Even though I wanted to believe him, my doubts persisted.
I walked the room back to the safehouse, my thoughts racing. Given the risks associated with David, could I stay with him?
I was startled out of my reverie by a knock on the door. David came in, his face reserved.
He said, "We need to talk."
"How about?" I crossed my arms and asked.
"about us. About the next course of action.
I sat down and gestured for him to go on.
He started by saying, "I know this isn't the life you wanted." "And if you wanted to leave, I wouldn't blame you."
I gazed at him, taken aback by his candour. "You're offering me an option?"
David gave a nod. Jessica, you've always had an option. All I can hope is that you decide to stay.
Seeking the truth, I gazed into his eyes. I knew one thing despite everything: I loved him. Perhaps even adored him. Was that sufficient, though?
The buzzing of David's phone interrupted my response. He scowled as he responded.
"What's that?" he growled.
Whatever was said darkened his face, but I couldn't hear the other person.
He hung up after muttering, "Victor."
"What took place?" I inquired.
"War has been declared," David replied somberly. "He's coming for everything that matters to me."
I felt the weight of what he had said.
Would I be another victim of David's conflict, or could I live in his world? Although I was unsure of the response, I was certain that Victor was not finished with us. By no means.
Following David's declaration, there was a suffocating stillness between us. As though waiting for Victor to show up at any second, he stood by the window and gazed into the darkness. His shoulders were tense, and I could see the storm building within him.
I whispered, "David," to break the hush. "Now what?"
His eyes were impenetrable as he turned to face me. "We get ready. Victor doesn't threaten people pointlessly. He will attack us fiercely and employ every weapon at his disposal.
"And how does that affect me?" I inquired. "Am I a liability in this whole situation?"
David took a step forward, his eyes unwavering. Jessica, you're not a liability. My strength is you. I won't lie to you, though: things will get worse before they get better.
I took a deep breath. "More awful than tonight?"
He gave a sad nod. Victor is a fan of chaos. He understands how much you mean to me, therefore he will come get you.
I felt as though his words were pressing down on me. I recalled Victor's demand for my treachery and the bitterness in his voice. He intended to destroy everyone and everything important to him, not just David.
"Then instruct me," I abruptly responded.
David scowled. "Teach you what?"
"How can I defend myself?" I stated forcefully. "You always have to help the damsel in distress, and I don't want that. I want to be prepared in case Victor comes for me.
David's expression flashed something—possibly respect. "Are you certain? There is no turning back once you enter this planet.
I said, "I'm already in it." "I might as well defend myself."
David's jaw was fixed as he nodded. "All right. Tomorrow is when we begin.
His phone buzzed once more before he could continue. As he read the message this time, his face grew even more serious.
"What is it?" I feared the response as I asked.
"They've located us," he whispered in a menacingly low voice.
My heart stopped beating. "Winner?"
David's expression turned to stone as he met my gaze. "His men are en route already."
As reality set me, I felt the blood drain from my face. Neither here nor anywhere else were we safe.
My stomach dropped when I heard tyres screeching outside in the distance. They were present. And there was no way out this time.

Alpha Twins' Mate's broken Human
A Lesson in Magic
Claimed by the Alpha's Love
Four years ago, Fiona's meticulously planned conspiracy turned me from an ordinary omega into a prisoner carrying the weight of a murder charge.
Four years later, I return to a world that has changed beyond recognition.
My best friend Fiona, who is also my stepsister, has become the perfect daughter in my mother's eyes. And my ex-boyfriend, Ethan, is about to hold a high-profile mating ceremony with her.
The love, family bonds, and reputation that I once cherished have all been taken by Fiona.
Just when I had reached my breaking point, questioning the very purpose of my existence, the legendary Alpha Lucas of Moonhaven suddenly appeared in my life.
He is powerful and enigmatic, a figure that all werewolves hold in awe.
Yet, he shows an extraordinary persistence and tenderness towards me.
Is Lucas's appearance a gift from fate, or the start of another conspiracy?
Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
The Forbidden Throb
Mine changed in the time it took to open a door.
Behind it: my fiancé Nicholas with another woman.
Three months until our wedding. Three seconds to watch it all burn.
I should have run. Should have screamed. Should have done anything except stand there like a fool.
Instead, I heard the devil himself whisper in my ear:
"If you're willing, I could marry you."
Daniel. The brother I was warned about. The one who made Nicholas look like a choir boy.
He leaned against the wall, watching my world implode.
My pulse thundered. "What?"
"You heard me." His eyes burned into mine. "Marry me, Emma."
But as I stared into those magnetic eyes, I realized something terrifying:
I wanted to say yes to him.
Game on.
The Biker Alpha Who Became My Second Chance Mate
"You're like a sister to me."
Those were the actual words that broke the camel's back.
Not after what just happened. Not after the hot, breathless, soul-shaking night we spent tangled in each other's arms.
I knew from the beginning that Tristan Hayes was a line I shouldn't cross.
He wasn't just anyone, he was my brother's best friend. The man I spent years secretly wanting.
But that night... we were broken. We had just buried our parents. And the grief was too heavy, too real...so I begged him to touch me.
To make me forget. To fill the silence that death left behind.
And he did. He held me like I was something fragile.
Kissed me like I was the only thing he needed to breathe.
Then left me bleeding with six words that burned deeper than rejection ever could.
So, I ran. Away from everything that cost me pain.
Now, five years later, I'm back.
Fresh from rejecting the mate who abused me. Still carrying the scars of a pup I never got to hold.
And the man waiting for me at the airport isn't my brother.
It's Tristan.
And he's not the guy I left behind.
He's a biker.
An Alpha.
And when he looked at me, I knew there was no where else to run to.
The mafia princess return
Accidentally Crossing the Tycoon
Four years ago, the Bailey family faced a devastating financial crisis.
Just when bankruptcy seemed inevitable, a mysterious benefactor emerged, offering salvation with one condition: a contract marriage.
Rumors swirled about this enigmatic man—whispers claimed he was hideously ugly and too ashamed to show his face, possibly harboring dark, twisted obsessions.
Without hesitation, the Baileys sacrificed me to protect their precious biological daughter, forcing me to take her place as a pawn in this cold, calculated arrangement.
Luckily, in those four years, the mysterious husband never asked to meet in person.
Now, in the final year of our arrangement, the husband I've never met is demanding we meet face to face.
But disaster struck the night before my return—drunk and disoriented, I stumbled into the wrong hotel room and ended up sleeping with the legendary financial mogul, Caspar Thornton.
What the hell am I supposed to do now?
The Biker's Fate
I squeezed my eyes shut.
"Dani," he pressed. "Do you get me?"
"No, Austin, I don't," I admitted as I pulled my robe closed again and sat up. "You confuse me."
He dragged his hands down his face. "Tell me what's on your mind."
I sighed. "You're everything my parents warned me against. You're secretive, but you're also honest. I feel wholly protected by you, but then you scare me more than anyone I've ever known. You're a bad boy, but when I dated a so-called good one, he turned out to be the devil, so, yeah, I don't get you because you're not what I expected. You drive me crazier than anyone I've ever met, but then you make me feel complete. I'm feeling things I don't quite know how to process and that makes me want to run. I don't want to give up something that might be really, really good, but I also don't want to be stupid and fall for a boy just because he's super pretty and makes me come."
