Doomsday Breaks Out, My Pet Tears Apart Zombies
Angela · Completed · 7.8k Words
Introduction
"Go and wait to die in the apocalypse with your worthless fish!" she laughed triumphantly, thinking she had seized an invincible trump card.
I almost burst out laughing on the spot.
In their past lives, they died too young and had no idea that without absolute power, mutated beasts would only tear their masters apart first! They also didn't know that the golden dragonfish she had discarded as trash was the true ruler of the late apocalypse!
As the crimson rain of radiation fell, I coldly fed the "Sea God" that had begun to emit an eerie glow. Since you're all eager to pave the way with your lives, then I'll gladly accept the ultimate evolutionary law of the apocalypse!
Chapter 1
A dull pain shot through the back of my head, followed by the vibration of a diesel engine roaring. I jerked my eyes open, my vision blurring briefly before quickly refocusing.
There were no mangled limbs, no deafening roars of mutated zombies.
I sat on the sofa in my living room, my back soaked with cold sweat.
"Hurry up, Victor! Before he wakes up, get these two cages onto the truck."
A low but urgent female voice came from outside the door. It was Sarah.
I was reborn. I went back to before that hellish apocalypse.
I forced down my wildly beating heart, tiptoed to the window, and parted the blinds.
A black Ford Raptor pickup truck was parked in my driveway. Victor was directing two workers to push a huge, custom-made steel cage into the truck bed.
My gray wolf "Duke" and grizzly bear "Barton" are locked in a cage. They are currently pawing at the iron snow with their paws and making low whimpering noises.
Sarah stood beside Victor, her hands gripping his arms tightly. She kept looking up at the sky, her eyes devoid of their usual arrogance, replaced by an almost neurotic frenzy and fear.
“Darling, are you sure you want to take them? They’re just two beasts.” Victor frowned, seemingly disgusted by the fishy smell of fur in the air, and covered his nose.
“You don’t understand, Victor! They’re not ordinary beasts, they are… they are our lifeline!” Sarah spoke rapidly, her voice trembling. “Believe me, once darkness falls, this world will descend into utter chaos. We need absolute force; only they can protect us! You must feed them the finest meat and make them submit to you!”
If it were the old me, hearing my fiancée give my pet to another man in front of me would have made me furious, and I would have rushed out and broken Victor's nose. But now, I only feel a chill creeping up my spine.
Sarah knew what would happen after dark. She knew the end of the world was coming. She even knew that her pets would awaken superpowers during the apocalypse.
In my past life, it was the Duke and Barton who underwent a violent mutation after the Red Rain descended, awakening the superpowers of controlling storms and the earth, becoming my strongest shield in this wasteland. They tore through the zombie hordes for me and earned me the formidable reputation of "Beast King" in the warlord-controlled bases.
Sarah, the woman who died in the first small zombie horde in her previous life because she couldn't escape in time, has also been reborn.
She returned to this point in time ahead of me, used my trust to bewitch me, and eagerly offered my two most powerful trump cards to the powerful figures she couldn't climb up to in her previous life, attempting to create an indestructible safe haven for herself in advance.
"Bang!"
The truck's tailgate slammed shut. Victor put his arm around Sarah's waist and kissed her on the cheek. "Alright, since you insist. But what if Elias wakes up and goes berserk, calling the police? After all, this is a legally acquired beast that he paid a fortune for."
Sarah gave a cold laugh and glanced at the room where I was. Her eyes were filled with contempt, pity, and a twisted pleasure from robbing someone of their destiny.
“Let him report it. By the time the police arrive, the law will have ceased to exist.” Sarah smoothed her hair, her tone vicious. “I know him too well. Without Barton and the Duke, he won’t survive a single day. That’s just… natural selection.”
She paused, a mocking smile playing on her lips: "Besides, I've done more than enough. I even left him a precious pet."
I stood quietly behind the window, neither making a sound nor stopping them. After ten years of apocalyptic experience, I knew all too well that rushing out now would not only be pointless but would also invite unnecessary trouble. With less than three hours until the first wave of virus-laden red rain fell, I had no time to waste fighting over ownership with two idiots.
Did she think that by taking away the wolves and bears, she could rest easy in the apocalypse?
I narrowed my eyes slightly, a cold smile tugging at the corners of my mouth.
Sarah died too young in her previous life; she had no idea how uncontrollable the direction of mutation could be in this hellish world. She also had no idea what bloody price would be paid to control the top predators in the early stages of the apocalypse.
I turned around and walked to the other side of the living room. There, a huge ecological aquarium used to be placed.
At this moment, the aquarium's power had been unplugged, and the oxygenator had stopped working. A few pieces of broken aquatic plants floated on the surface, the handiwork left by Sarah in her panic as she smashed the filtration system with a baseball bat.
At the bottom of the murky water, a high-backed golden arowana, nearly 60 centimeters long, was helplessly rolling over on its side.
Its name is "Leviathan".
Its gill covers twitched laboriously, each breath sounding like extreme pain. Its once shimmering, gold-leaf-like scales were now dull and lifeless, as it desperately struggled in the stagnant, oxygen-deprived water.
This was Sarah's "gift" to me: a dying ornamental fish that would die instantly if taken out of the water. In her eyes, bringing a fish to the end of the world was nothing short of a cruel joke.
I knelt on one knee in front of the aquarium, pressing my hands against the cold glass.
“It’s okay, buddy,” I murmured.

Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

“I thought you said you were done chasing me?” Gen mocked.
“I am done chasing you.”
Before she could formulate a witty remark, Matteo threw her down. She landed hard on her back atop his dining room table. She tried to sit up when she noticed what he was doing. His hands were working on his belt. It came free of his pants with a violent yank. She collapsed back on her elbows, her mouth gaping open at the display. His face was a mask of sheer determination, his eyes were a dark gold swimming with heat and desire. His hands wrapped around her thighs and pulled her to the edge of the table. He glided his fingers up her thighs and hooked several around the inside of her panties. His knuckles brushed her dripping sex.
“You’re soaking wet, Genevieve. Tell me, was it me that made you this way or him?” his voice told her to be careful with her answer. His knuckles slid down through her folds and she threw her head back as she moaned. “Weakness?”
“You…” she breathed.

That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.

In the chaos of gang wars, mounting debts, and old betrayals, he becomes the one constant. The more she fights him, the harder she falls. And the more he pushes her away, the more lethal his pull becomes.
