Introduction
For years, I gave up my career, held the household together, endured his lies, and kept alive a marriage he had never truly valued.
He thought I would never leave, because once, I had loved him that deeply.
But I could not spend the rest of my life watching him fall in love with another woman.
The divorce papers are already on the table. This time, I won’t beg him to stay.
I choose myself.
Chapter 1
The hallway outside the ICU was cold and dim, and Gwen Winston curled into the corner wall, her fingers whitening from the chill.
She had been keeping vigil here for three days.
Justin's grandfather had fallen from a balcony by accident and was still in emergency care, his life hanging by a thread.
And her husband, Justin Sterling, had not shown up. Not even once.
She pulled out her phone, her numb fingertips sliding across his latest Facebook update: [An entire cruise ship rented out to throw a welcome party for his little sweetheart.]
The lights in the photo glittered like a dream, and he was angled toward the woman beside him, gaze soft enough to melt steel.
Gwen's chest tightened. She was debating whether to call him when the hallway suddenly erupted in noise.
A crowd of reporters rushed toward her, clustered around a man and woman.
The man walked with that tall, self‑assured stride, a black wool coat draped over a matching suit, his expression carved in its usual cool detachment. Her husband, Justin.
And the woman tucked into his arm wore an ivory pantsuit, her long hair draped gently over her shoulders as she whispered something sweet to the little girl holding her hand.
"Mr. Sterling! We heard you and Mrs. Sterling were taking turns keeping vigil. Truly heart‑warming!"
"Mrs. Sterling has such grace, what a perfect match you two make!"
"And look at the little princess! What a beautiful family!"
Their empty praise crashed over Gwen like waves, each one sharp enough to sting.
A young reporter whispered, "But who's that woman standing by the door?"
A senior reporter lowered her voice, but clearly wanted everyone to hear. "Her? The one who climbed into his bed three years ago to get a ring out of him. See Mr. Sterling even look her way?"
Worse comments drifted over from the nurses' station. "A man she stoles will never look at her willingly. She could stand guard here forever, and he still wouldn't spare her a glance."
"Lynn looks like the real wife. And that little girl of hers—adorable."
"Word is Mr. Sterling almost died in that car crash years back, and that woman used the chaos to push Lynn out."
Gwen's hand tightened around the paper cup. Hot water sloshed out, burning her skin red, but she barely noticed.
Not far away, Justin gently reached up to brush a stray lock from Lynn Serena's cheek.
The overhead lights sculpted the profile Gwen had adored for four years, married for three, yet never truly gotten close to him.
Those eyes she used to steal glances from across the college library were now filled—overflowing—with tenderness for someone else.
"Mom." A small tug pulled at her coat.
Gwen looked down into her son's clear, quiet eyes.
Three‑year‑old Charlie Sterling had somehow slipped out of the room. His tiny hands moved in steady, careful signs: [Great‑grandpa's finger twitched.]
Her heart skipped. She opened her mouth to call for a doctor, but Justin was already striding toward them.
His gaze dropped to Charlie in her arms, and his brow snapped tight. "Who told you to bring him out here?"
Gwen swallowed, her voice raw. "Charlie wanted to see his Great‑grandfather."
"A mute kid, out here making a spectacle?"
Justin's voice was cold enough to frost glass. "Take him back. Now."
"Justin!" Her voice trembled uncontrollably. "He's your son!"
"I know that." There was no warmth in his eyes. "Which is exactly why he needs to be hidden. The Sterling family can't afford that embarrassment."
Lynn stepped forward as if to smooth things over. "Justin, don't talk about a child that way."
She bent down and murmured to the girl beside her. "Nora, go play with Charlie, okay? Be gentle. Charlie isn't in good health."
Nora's big eyes blinked once before she let go of Lynn's hand and scampered toward Charlie.
Gwen instinctively shifted Charlie behind her.
"Gwen." Justin's voice iced over further. "Who exactly are you guarding him from?"
She opened her mouth, but nothing came out. In the end, she scooped Charlie up and walked toward the elevator.
One more second there, and she feared she would fall apart.
They ended up in the hospital's back garden.
The late‑autumn sky was still and empty.
Gwen set Charlie on a bench, asking in sign language, Hungry? Mommy can get milk.
Charlie shook his head, grabbing her coat with a soft, silent plea.
She sat beside him, watching his lashes dip low, and her chest clenched painfully. His world was too quiet—no sound, no voice, even his crying had no volume.
And in Justin's eyes, that silence was her sin.
"What did you eat during pregnancy?"
"Did you take something you shouldn't have?"
"Gwen, do you hate me so much you'd ruin the baby too?"
Those accusations had pierced her for three years, each one dipped in poison.
"Mute boy!" A sharp little voice cut through the stillness.
Gwen jerked her head up to see Nora Serena appear out of nowhere, making faces at Charlie.
"Mom said you're a mute! You can't talk!"
Nora charged up and shoved Charlie hard.
He toppled backward, his elbow scraping the concrete, blood welling instantly. His eyes widened, tears trembling along the edges, mouth open in a silent cry.
"Nora!" Gwen rushed over, pulling Nora away and gathering Charlie into her arms. Her voice shook with anger. "You cannot shove people!"
"He's mute! A mute!" Nora declared, hands on her hips like a tiny adult. "Serves him right!"
"Who taught you to say that?" Gwen's whole body trembled.
"Mom! Mom said it! And she said you stole my dad!"
Nora suddenly cut herself off, spinning toward the sound of footsteps. In a blink, she transformed, bolting forward. "Daddy! Ms. Winston yelled at me!"
Gwen turned.
Justin was carrying Nora, Lynn following close behind, and behind them, Vivian Sterling clicked across the pavement in stilettos.
"Gwen." Justin's voice was ice. "What kind of tantrum are you throwing at a kid?"
"She pushed Charlie!"
Gwen pointed at Charlie's bleeding elbow. "She called him mute and shoved him to the ground!"
"Kids say things." Justin frowned. "Charlie can't talk. Nora only said what's true."
True.
The word sliced straight through Gwen's chest.
"Justin," she whispered, shaking so hard she could barely stand, "Charlie is your son."
"I know." His voice was flat. "Which is why he needs to be kept out of sight. The Sterling family can't risk the shame."
Vivian stepped up, her expression twisted with disgust. "Gwen, why did you bring that mute kid out again? What if the media sees? Does the Sterling name mean nothing to you?"
Gwen looked at all of them.
Her cold husband. Lynn, pretending to be fragile. Vivian, smug like she owned the place.
And she laughed.
Laughed at herself for being a fool three years straight. For believing love could be repaid. For expecting something from these people.
She bent down, lifting Charlie gently into her arms. Her voice came out steady, terrifyingly calm. "Justin, you don't have to love me. But if you're ashamed of your own child, you're not worthy of being his father."
As she turned, Charlie's little hand brushed her cheek.
Gwen glanced down to see him signing, Mommy, don't cry.
Only then did she realize tears were streaming down her face.
Holding him close, she made a silent promise in her heart.
Charlie, I'm taking you away.
And this time, she was never looking back.

Still.
The image of her standing in the doorway, clutching her cardigan tighter around her narrow shoulders, trying to smile through the awkwardness, won’t leave me.
Neither does the memory of Tyler. Leaving her here without a second thought.
I shouldn’t care.
I don’t care.
It’s not my problem if Tyler’s an idiot.
It’s not my business if some spoiled little princess has to walk home in the dark.

We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.

How Not To Fall For A Dragon
Which is why it was more than a little confusing when a letter arrived with my name already printed on a schedule, a dorm waiting, and classes picked out as if someone knew me better than I knew myself. Everyone knows the Academy, it’s where witches sharpen their spells, shifters master their forms, and every kind of magical creature learns to control their gifts.
Everyone except me.
I don’t even know what I am. No shifting, no magic tricks, nothing. Just a girl surrounded by people who can fly, conjure fire, or heal with a touch. So I sit through classes pretending I belong, and I listen hard for any clue that might tell me what’s hidden in my blood.
The only person more curious than me is Blake Nyvas, tall, golden-eyed, and very much a Dragon. People whisper that he’s dangerous, warn me to keep my distance. But Blake seems determined to solve the mystery of me, and somehow I trust him more than anyone else.
Maybe it’s reckless. Maybe it’s dangerous.
But when everyone else looks at me like I don’t belong, Blake looks at me like I’m a riddle worth solving.

Accardi
“I thought you said you were done chasing me?” Gen mocked.
“I am done chasing you.”
Before she could formulate a witty remark, Matteo threw her down. She landed hard on her back atop his dining room table. She tried to sit up when she noticed what he was doing. His hands were working on his belt. It came free of his pants with a violent yank. She collapsed back on her elbows, her mouth gaping open at the display. His face was a mask of sheer determination, his eyes were a dark gold swimming with heat and desire. His hands wrapped around her thighs and pulled her to the edge of the table. He glided his fingers up her thighs and hooked several around the inside of her panties. His knuckles brushed her dripping sex.
“You’re soaking wet, Genevieve. Tell me, was it me that made you this way or him?” his voice told her to be careful with her answer. His knuckles slid down through her folds and she threw her head back as she moaned. “Weakness?”
“You…” she breathed.

Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.

His eyes darken, flicking to my mouth.
"It's wrong. Your brother would slit my throat for just standing this close. But tell me, little bird" his breath ghosts my skin, "are you trembling because you hate me… or because you've wanted this just as much as I have?"
Wren thought she'd buried the chaos of New Orleans for good—the clubs, the blood-soaked loyalties, the men who lived and died by their kuttes. Seattle gave her everything she ever wanted: freedom, love, a future.

In the chaos of gang wars, mounting debts, and old betrayals, he becomes the one constant. The more she fights him, the harder she falls. And the more he pushes her away, the more lethal his pull becomes.

It's brutal. Bloody.
And it's bound to break them both.
When loyalty is everything and love can cost your life, will Wren risk her heart on the one man she was never meant to love?
