Introduction
Three years ago, Joslyn Patel met a man whom her best friend had described as "sex on legs". Three years ago, Gabriel Reid met a woman whose smart mouth he'd hoped was as good at blowing as it was at retorting—it had been way more than he'd imagined, by the way.
Three years ago, sparks were ignited, their intertwined fate was set in stone and they had a night to remember.
Fast forward to two years later, Gabriel now has a girlfriend so he definitely shouldn't be thinking about the woman from that explosive night but he can't help that the memories were now imprinted on his mind... and perhaps another part of him.
Fate would have it that when Gabriel finally meets the best friend his girlfriend wouldn't stop talking about, she happens to be Joslyn, the mystery woman from two years ago. Tension brews between the two but nothing can be done about it.
Skip to the present; Gabriel is now single again and nothing stands between him and finally getting the woman he's spent three years wanting, but what happens when not long after he begins his chase, his divorced mother introduces a man her age as her new fiancé.
What happens when the man turns out to be Joslyn's father?
After all, a taboo relationship makes it all the more hot and exciting.

“You’re my best friend's boyfriend, Gabriel.”
Gabriel's steps faltered until he came to a stop, tilted his head and turned around to face Joslyn again. “Ex–boyfriend,” he corrected.
“Whatever. It still changes everything between us,” she shrugged and started fiddling with her water bottle, suddenly feeling timid beneath his scorching gaze.
Gabriel shook his head, walking back towards her. “It changes absolutely nothing, Joslyn. Not if you don't allow it.”
She looked into his eyes, her sweet honey-hued orbs colliding with his swirls of green and blue that reminded her of the Mediterranean ocean. The color harmony couldn't be more explosive.
Joslyn cleared her throat and averted her gaze from the magnetic pull of his eyes. Forcing herself to stand tall, she adopted a posture of confidence and resolve—a stark contrast to the storm of emotions raging inside her. Gabriel's nearness sent a wave of weakness through her knees, but she refused to let it show.
“No matter what, I won't betray Sigourney. It’s an unspoken rule between friends to never date each other's exes. You're off limits, Gabriel.”
“In that case, if we're gonna state the facts then it's Sigourney who's violated that rule between you two because you and I met first, didn't we, Joslyn?”
“That— That's different. She wasn't aware. We all weren't.”
“Oh yeah? Well I'm still saying this: fuck such rules. Whether they're unspoken or in the damn constitution, I don't give a fuck about that crap. And I am not off-limits, darling. Lapointe can't decide that for me. Only I can.” Gabriel moved even closer, backing her up against the wall of the hallway. “I want you, Joslyn. And I always get what I want,” his voice turned husky.
“T–That doesn't apply to me.” Joslyn stuttered, struggling but failing to keep her voice steady.
“I always get what I want,” he repeated firmly. At this point, their chests were touching as they both panted, equally breathless from the heated atmosphere between them.
“Why bother fighting it?” Gabriel asked softly, raising his hand to caress her face. He hooked her short silver hair behind her ears so he could feel her smooth and silken skin tingle and flush under the mercy of his mere touch.
“Your eyes, your lips, every part of your body, is begging for my touch, baby.” He whispered, trailing his other hand down her exposed arm, feeling the goosebumps surfacing on her skin.
“Just admit it. You're just as attracted to me as I am to you, Joslyn. You want me as much as I want you. Maybe even more.” His warm breath fanned her face, making her eyelids droopy.
His baritone voice carried the perfect blend of depth and huskiness, an intoxicating allure that wrapped around her like a siren’s song. It was temptation itself—akin to the devil murmuring sweet nothings into her soul, coaxing her closer. Every inch of Gabriel exuded seduction, and Joslyn was slipping, slowly but surely, into his grasp.
“I don’t,” she croaked before hurriedly clearing her throat. Gabriel smirked, fully aware of the effect he had on her. “Did I ever admit that?” Joslyn retorted, although deep down, she knew her protests were pointless. Every denial, every argument—it was all futile and they both knew it.
Gabriel's gaze shifted to Joslyn's mouth, taking in her unintentional pout and before he knew it, his hand still cupping her face inched closer to it. “Your lips,” he started, his calloused thumb grazing her bottom lip and tracing the delicate curve of her Cupid’s bow. His gaze remained riveted on the mesmerizing sight as he added, “need not speak the words your eyes so clearly confess, love.”

A B O U T
Her Strength, Her Bane is a romance book set in the contemporary world (cited as the city of Vancouver, Canada), between a billionaire CEO, Gabriel Nicholas Reid and the flight attendant, Joslyn Leann Patel, who he'd been chanced to meet at a club one night.
The story takes effect as a one-night stand trope kinda book but it advances into something more when the fates of both leads are woven in more ways than one and subsequently, later in life, they're set to meet more times.
I N F O R M A T I O N
Her Strength, Her Bane is set in three time zones namely: two years before the present (that is, the club night), a year before the present (that is, Gabriel and Sigourney dating and Joslyn's and Gabriel's official introduction to each other courtesy of Sigourney) and lastly, the present times which spans the rest of the book. It was imperative that insights on their past were given, therefore it had to be written before the book officially began and I hope that by this explanation, clarity is brought to the readers, so as to prevent any instances of confusion.
Another thing to note, this is a fictional book, and so a number of things aren't real and have only been coined from the author's imagination—and some of the things that ARE real, have been fine-tuned for the sake of the plot. An instance of this is Joslyn's job as a flight attendant and the details of it, such as her break/time off period. My knowledge on air-hosting/flight-attending is limited to what I got off the Internet, and so I'd tweaked a couple of things to suit the plot of my book. Please, keep this in mind.
Lastly, the first few chapters were written years ago which means they are... cringe-y at best compared to the newer and more recent chapters. I haven't gotten around to editing them yet but I will in due time. So if you can manage to get through them and look past their flaws, I can guarantee you'll enjoy Gabriel and Jos's story!

The Biker's Fate
I squeezed my eyes shut.
"Dani," he pressed. "Do you get me?"
"No, Austin, I don't," I admitted as I pulled my robe closed again and sat up. "You confuse me."
He dragged his hands down his face. "Tell me what's on your mind."
I sighed. "You're everything my parents warned me against. You're secretive, but you're also honest. I feel wholly protected by you, but then you scare me more than anyone I've ever known. You're a bad boy, but when I dated a so-called good one, he turned out to be the devil, so, yeah, I don't get you because you're not what I expected. You drive me crazier than anyone I've ever met, but then you make me feel complete. I'm feeling things I don't quite know how to process and that makes me want to run. I don't want to give up something that might be really, really good, but I also don't want to be stupid and fall for a boy just because he's super pretty and makes me come."

From Substitute To Queen
Heartbroken, Sable discovered Darrell having sex with his ex in their bed, while secretly transferring hundreds of thousands to support that woman.
Even worse was overhearing Darrell laugh to his friends: "She's useful—obedient, doesn't cause trouble, handles housework, and I can fuck her whenever I need relief. She's basically a live-in maid with benefits." He made crude thrusting gestures, sending his friends into laughter.
In despair, Sable left, reclaimed her true identity, and married her childhood neighbor—Lycan King Caelan, nine years her senior and her fated mate. Now Darrell desperately tries to win her back. How will her revenge unfold?
From substitute to queen—her revenge has just begun!
I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
The War God Alpha's Arranged Bride
Yet Alexander made his decision clear to the world: “Evelyn is the only woman I will ever marry.”
Invisible To Her Bully
My Possessive Alpha Twins For Mate
My drunk stepfather remained indifferent, his weight suffocating, making it hard to breathe as my heart raced.
Suddenly, the door slammed open, and two figures burst in.
"Get off her!" a deafening roar echoed.
I didn't expect the twin brothers who'd bullied me at school to come charging in like gods to save me.
After my grandmother passed, I had to move in with my mom and stepdad, who treated me like a servant. I prayed every day for my 18th birthday to come, so l could leave and escape this broken home.
However, on my first day at my new school, l encountered the legendary twins everyone feared.
To make matters worse, the Moon Goddess revealed they were both my mates!
After helping me out with my stepdad, my twin mate cornered me, played with my hair, and whispered possessively, "You belong to us, our little mate..."
Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
The Pack: Rule Number 1 - No Mates
"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."
New to the world of shifters, Draven is human on the run. A beautiful girl who no one could protect. Domonic is the cold Alpha of the Red Wolf Pack. A brotherhood of twelve wolves that live by twelve rules. Rules which they vowed could NEVER be broken.
Especially - Rule Number One - No Mates
When Draven meets Domonic, he knows that she is his mate, but Draven has no idea what a mate is, only that she has fallen in love with a shifter. An Alpha that will break her heart to make her leave. Promising herself, she will never forgive him, she disappears.
But she doesn’t know about the child she’s carrying or that the moment she left, Domonic decided rules were made to be broken - and now will he ever find her again? Will she forgive him?
The Biker Alpha Who Became My Second Chance Mate
"You're like a sister to me."
Those were the actual words that broke the camel's back.
Not after what just happened. Not after the hot, breathless, soul-shaking night we spent tangled in each other's arms.
I knew from the beginning that Tristan Hayes was a line I shouldn't cross.
He wasn't just anyone, he was my brother's best friend. The man I spent years secretly wanting.
But that night... we were broken. We had just buried our parents. And the grief was too heavy, too real...so I begged him to touch me.
To make me forget. To fill the silence that death left behind.
And he did. He held me like I was something fragile.
Kissed me like I was the only thing he needed to breathe.
Then left me bleeding with six words that burned deeper than rejection ever could.
So, I ran. Away from everything that cost me pain.
Now, five years later, I'm back.
Fresh from rejecting the mate who abused me. Still carrying the scars of a pup I never got to hold.
And the man waiting for me at the airport isn't my brother.
It's Tristan.
And he's not the guy I left behind.
He's a biker.
An Alpha.
And when he looked at me, I knew there was no where else to run to.
Falling for my boyfriend's Navy brother

It’s just newness, I tell myself firmly.
