Chapter 1
25 years ago the kingdom of Loria almost fell. The kingdom was home to many species including humans, werewolves, vampires, fae and shifters. These people lived peacefully under the kings rule and they created crossbreed children. Such children varied in ability and presentation. Some simply took on one parents abilities, while others manifested new powers. One man, Kato half fae and half vampire challenged the king, he said that cross breads were marginalised and oppressed and he could better represent them. He brewed fear and segregation among the people until the crossbreeds revolted and tried to attack the king. Kato was almost impossible to kill and could manipulate time, slowing it down while he would escape. The king narrowly avoided assassination attempts and tried to unite the people to fight back. Then the kings wife died and the king stopped the fighting by ordering all crossbreeds be killed or imprisoned for life. The king passed a law that all species were to be separated into districts in the kingdom and that mixing was forbidden, interspecies mating was punishable by death.
While there were families torn apart and loved ones lost, the segregation did restore peace and Kato has not been heard of since. The king rules from the centre of the kingdom where the fae live. They have different abilities but all involve magic. The royal family are the most powerful magic users and can manipulate all 4 elements. The boarder land is divided into 5 sections- the wolf packs, the vampires, the humans and the shifters all have an equal amount of land in which to live and build. There is also a section for the prisoners and crossbreds that were not killed but this is much smaller. In between each section is a small sliver of land which was supposed to be a road to allow travel to and from the kingdom. In reality these roads were colonised by thieves, law breakers and those who no-one wanted on their land, making the roads dangerous to travel. The king overlooked most of these dangers as he did not want people travelling anyway.
