Introduction
I didn’t growl like before, nor did I threaten her.
I picked up the old cloak from the floor and handed it to the girl trembling in the corner.
“Leave through the back door. The patrol just passed.”
The girl glanced at me fearfully, grabbed the cloak, and ran out.
Killian leaned against the headboard.
Bare-chested, a cigar in hand, his expression was full of arrogance.
“She’s just a newly matured stray werewolf. Don’t scare her.”
“Elira, you come from noble blood. You wouldn’t make a fuss about this.”
“Tonight is her first transformation. I need to be with her. I won’t be back.”
I lowered my head, hiding my golden eyes.
What Killian didn’t know was—
that stray girl was carrying the highly contagious and fatal Rotting Sickness.
Chapter 1
This is the tenth time Killian has brought a rogue werewolf back to our bedroom.
I didn't growl like before, and I didn't threaten her either.
I picked up the old cloak from the floor and handed it to the girl shivering in the corner. "Leave through the back door. The patrol just left."
The girl glanced at me fearfully, grabbed her clothes, and ran out.
Killian leaned against the headboard.
Shirtless, holding a cigar, looking smug.
"She's just a rogue werewolf who barely came of age. Don't scare her."
"Eleanor, you're of noble blood. You won't stoop to her level."
"Tonight's her first shape shifting. I need to be with her. I won't be coming back tonight."
I lowered my head, hiding my golden eyes.
Killian didn't know.
That rogue girl carried a highly contagious, deadly rot disease.
The bedroom reeked of sex.
I walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and pushed open the glass.
The night breeze blew in. I wanted to get rid of that smell as soon as possible.
Killian blew out a smoke ring, staring at my back. "Not making a fuss about breaking the mate bond today?"
I turned away from him, fingers pressed against the window frame. "Not anymore."
Killian laughed. "That's more like it."
He got up from the bed to put on his shirt. "You know, for a pack like ours that rules the entire West Coast, it's normal for the leader to have several lovers. You're the pack's Luna. As long as you hold that position, nothing else matters."
I turned around and watched him button up.
We'd been fated mates for almost four years. He was still charming, able to drive all female wolves crazy.
"You're sure you're not coming back tonight?" I confirmed again.
"Not coming back." He fastened his belt.
"Is tonight some special occasion?" Before leaving, he asked.
I shook my head and smiled bitterly. "Nothing. Just asking."
The door closed.
I stood by the window for a while, watching his car lights disappear at the end of the tree-lined road.
I picked up my phone and made a call. "He's gone. Send in the cleaning team."
Five minutes later, three cleaners in protective suits entered the room.
They rolled up the bedding, sprayed every corner with strong disinfectant, and threw the dirty sheets into incineration bags.
The lead cleaner nodded to report. "Everything's been handled. It's completely disinfected."
I pointed at the bed and said coldly, "This bed—burn it."
With that, I walked out of the room and closed the door.
In the hallway hung a photo from our mate marking ceremony.
I wore a white dress then, smiling happily.
Killian had his arm around my waist, looking at me tenderly.
Looking at his affectionate gaze, I found it deeply ironic.
Before meeting me, Killian was a notorious playboy with women everywhere.
Later, to pursue me, he endured eighty-one lashes from the former Alpha and publicly sent away all his lovers.
He even ventured alone into the werewolf forbidden land to save me, nearly losing his life.
For those years, he changed all his bad habits and treasured me like a precious gem.
But that love only lasted four years.
Now he's bored and doesn't want to play the perfect husband anymore.
His deep-rooted craving for novelty has surfaced again.
I wiped away my tears and went downstairs.
A cold steak sat on the dining table.
Killian only remembered that today was the day that rogue girl shifted into a wolf.
But he forgot today was the fourth anniversary of our marking.
And my birthday.
The beef was tasteless in my mouth.
I had planned to ask the Council of Elders to forcibly remove the mate bond.
Even if it would cost me half my life.
But now, I've changed my mind.
I want all of Alpha Killian's assets, and I want all his power and territory too.

"What?"

"She’s ours," the beast insists, possessive and fierce. "Our snowflake."
