midflame08 · Ongoing · 38.2k Words
Introduction
Twenty-three years old, and my wolf had never surfaced. An outcast. A mistake.
But the night of the festival changed everything. My first heat hit me like fire, and three of the most dangerous Alphas in the realm rose to claim me.
Kia, the warlord feared for his blood-soaked battles.
AshBane, the cursed Alpha who collects souls like trophies.
And Lucivar, the Devil Alpha, banished for loving me in another life.
They say I’m fated. Desired. Owned.
But all I feel is the weight of chains tightening around my throat.
Because I’m not just their mate.
I’m the key to a curse that could burn the world.
And if I choose wrong… everyone dies.
Chapter 1
NAIDA.
I asked for a Birthday gift, dear goddess. But you've shown me exactly who you are, not a mother but a monster.
I am the rejected one, the one no one wanted to talk about even in whispers, no one apart from Aya. How daring she is. I love her for that.
A curse as they say.
Once I got into the mating hall and took my seat, everyone deliberately moved away and I sighed while Aya rubbed my arm softly.
Only if they knew they were doing me a favour, I wouldn't have to bother about having a better view or have complaints about stench from people's bodies.
“We barely made it. It's about to begin.” I stared out front at the place where Alpha's and Luna's were seated and smiled halfly. Those were good things in life that some of us would never be able to witness.
One of the she wolf's nearby let out a shrill happy joy and ran into the arms of a young man who was waiting on her. The process had already began, they were already locating their wolves.
It so kindly happens that today is my 18th birthday, the only gift I would accept from the moon goddess is my mate at the very least.
“I think I've spotted mine.” Aya whispered and I smiled at her while nodding as she walked in his direction but almost immediately, my chest felt like a furnace had been set inside of it. I gritted my teeth as the burn seemed to spread to my veins and down my arteries as I struggled to my feet.
I placed my hands on my chest, grunting as I couldn't keep balance and fell to my feet. It felt like the room was swirling and I could spot someone.
Is this it? It felt like an invisible force was in charge of my feet as I suddenly saw myself walking towards the podium and to the Alpha's section.
It just can't be! I could get killed! Why is this happening to me?
I gritted my teeth again as tears flowed out of my eyes while I tried to stop myself from moving but it seemed vaguely impossible.
I gripped my gown so tightly, I could feel my nails in my own skin as I mounted the podium and walked towards them.
“What are you doing here, loser? Did you lose your way?” I heard someone question as her hands pulled me backwards but it was as though I was intoxicated.
“I said, get back from here. This is the Alpha's section.” Someone yelled yet it felt like a blur in my memory.
I really wanted to back away, I wouldn't dare mate with an Alpha. That was simply giving myself to the slaughter but what happens when you aren't in charge of your own system?
“I think it's the mate bond.” Someone's voice infiltrated and when I realized I was walking directly to the Alpha's table, I pinched myself harder.
Naida, please snap out of this.
How could you offer me up for free for death? To be hung by the gallows? I have watched people being hung year after year for being mated to Alpha's when they weren't worthy and as an outcast, it was about to get so much worse.
My legs suddenly stopped abruptly on their own accord as I got to the Alpha's father and it made me lose my balance falling onto the table with only my hands to keep me from smashing down.
My eyes locked onto one of the Alpha's immediately and inside of me, I was wailing.
Alpha Kia! He ruled one of the most dangerous packs in the north east, this man had killed his wife in front of the entire pack simply because she went against one of his orders. And not to mention, he had killed one of his second chance mates last season because she was an omega.
I was an omega, orphaned and an outcast! I was done for!
My eyes shifted suddenly and fixated on Alpha AshBane.
This gets even worse! It gets way worse, what the hell?
And suddenly, just like a prayer that was given to the dead before they are laid to rest, the both of them echoed.
“Mate.”
Chaos ensued at the table as the Alpha of my pack, Alpha Logan sprung to his feet.
“A harem? That's impossible! She is truly an abomination. She should be removed, so says Alpha Lo—”
He was making the declaration, the one that says i’d be killed so I just shut my eyes and let the tears roll out freely. I did my best in this 18 years of life, I did.
“Hold on. She shouldn't be sentenced to death just yet.” My eyes snapped open at the sentence as I stared at Alpha Kia wide eyed.
No one should tell me the devil has a heart, he probably wants them to leave the deal for him to accomplish himself.
“Why not? A harem and whoever brings it should be killed.” Alpha Logan pressed and I knew that the words I was about to utter could get me killed but I said it nonetheless.
“I wasn't the only one that brought the harem though. Does your logic not mean that both Alpha Kia and Alpha AshBane should be killed also since they're abominations.” I queried in a low voice keeping my face down when I felt a sharp sting on my face.
