In Country C, New York City.
In the luxurious five star hotel suite, Lina Maria fixes her earrings as she looked at herself in the full-length mirror. Tonight, she is wearing a designer’s champagne off-shoulder gown made of silk, that accentuates her perfect figure.
Lina Maria is a beautiful woman, born with elegant and distinctive features. There were countless of men chasing her, but she has never accepted any one of them. She would always remember the promise that her first love made to her in high school, “Wait for me, you will be the only girl that I will marry!”
They promised to stay in contact when the boy had to leave the country to pursue his studies overseas. Lina Maria had never forgotten the meticulous love and care that the boy had given to her. She vowed in her heart that she would only want to marry him.
Many years have passed, she has since graduated from university and has just started her work as a fashion designer in her family’s company. However, the boy has never contacted her. She had tried searching for him, but was unable to find any information about this boy. It felt as though her high school love was just a dream.
Has he forgotten about her? Has he forgotten about the promise he made? Is he already married? Does he already have a family?
Today is the day that she is going to meet the man that her father had arranged for her to marry. She is only 23, and is in no rush to get married. However, her father Gabriel has been in a poor health condition and has been hoping for a good man to take care of his daughter when he is gone.
Lina Maria’s mother and grandparents have passed away in an accident when she was young and her father is the only family member she is left with. Gabriel has always doted on Lina Maria and has never failed to provide her with the best.
Even though her family is not the wealthiest, it is said that the Lin Family is still one of the most prestigious families in the country. The Lin Corporation has dominated the fashion industry for tens of decades, and remains as a domestically renowned company.
Lina Maria had previously rejected Gabriel’s wishes of marrying this man on multiple occasions. The reason is simple, she just wanted to wait for her first love to come back. She loves the boy with all her heart and she trust that the boy would come back and marry her.
However, she knows that her father’s health is deteriorating, and so she decided to fulfil his last wish. Gabriel also wishes for her future husband to help Lina Maria in managing the Lin Corporation since Lina Maria has no experience and interest in doing so.
“I’m sorry to break our promise. I sincerely hope that you will be able to find a girl you love.” Lina Maria said to herself with teary eyes. She walked out of her hotel room, and left towards the ballroom with a heavy and regretful heart.
Lina Maria elegantly held on to her long dress as she continuously step on the marble finishing of the grand hotel lobby. She smiled and nodded at the staffs who greeted her politely as she walked by.
As she was walking towards the grand ballroom, she saw a familiar face that flashed by. Her heart stopped at that instant. “Is that him?”
Lina Maria walked quickly in the direction that the man has left. Unfortunately, she has lost him in the crowd.

In the grand ballroom of Country C’s best five star hotel, only the most prestigious families and famous figures with high status gathered. It was the Wang Family’s tradition to organise a yearly charity auction.

While walking there, she unknowingly caught the attention of many people due to her beauty and elegance.
“Wow! Who is that girl over there? She is so pretty!”

“Why haven’t I seen her before? She could easily be a famous model or actress with her looks like that!”
Lina Maria was embarrassed by the loud and excited comments from the people around her. After all, she went to the side of the ballroom to be alone. Who knows, she has attracted even more attention!
Not long after, Gabriel noticed that Lina Maria was standing alone by the side of the ballroom and signalled for her to join him.
Gabriel has been chatting happily with Granny Wang, who is Lucas Lopez’s grandmother. He can be considered a very good friend of Granny Wang since they have known each other for decades.
Granny Wang has always favoured Gabriel especially since he has once saved her life before.
When Lina Maria walked over and greeted her, Grandma Wang smiled at her dotingly and said, “Good girl, you have not met my grandson yet, have you?”
