Introduction

The night Adien Reanon rejected Rose in front of the entire pack was supposed to break her.
But It didn't.
Instead It woke her wolf which was sealed by her mother due to the slaughtering of rare wolves.
Rose goes to sleep as the overlooked omega nobody wanted, and wakes up unrecognizable, silver eyes, sharper edges, and a quiet, unbothered authority that makes every room stop breathing. She doesn't know what she's become. She only knows one thing: she refuses to shrink ever again.
So when her dream job offer lands the very next morning, she takes it. No hesitation. New face, new life, clean slate. Or so she thought.
Until she walks into E&R Bio-Tech on Monday and finds herself staring directly at Adien Reanon — her new boss. The man who didn't even remember her name when he rejected her.
He doesn't recognize her. Not even slightly.
And Rose decides to keep it that way.
What follows is a dangerous game of boardrooms and buried feelings, where Rose is disturbingly good at being everything he never thought she could be, composed, razor-sharp, and completely in control. She runs his meetings. She saves his company. She has his entire senior team hanging on her every word.
And Adien? The most powerful Alpha in the room can't explain why he feels like an intern every time she looks at him.
He rejected her believing she was weak.
She's about to make him beg for the woman he threw away.
My New Boss Is My Ex-Mate is a paranormal workplace romance with sharp wit, slow-burn tension, and a power dynamic that flips everything you expect, because in this story, the omega doesn't just survive the rejection.
She owns it and made the alpha submit instead.

Chapter 1

“What’s your name?” Adien asked coldly, his expression hard.

What’s my name? Is it possible for your mate whom you’ve known for years, to not even know your name? Or is my name that hard to remember?

“Rose—” He cut me off before I could even complete my name.

“I, Adien Bleck of RAENON Pack, reject you, Rose, as my mate,” Adien shouted before pouring the cup of red wine on the floor.

The whole ceremony became quiet, people whispering while throwing glances at me, while I stood there dumbfounded. Heart beating profusely both from pain, anxiety, and embarrassment, my hands were shaking, and tears filled my eyes, but I refused to let it fall—let them, let him see me that way.

Today was supposed to be a happy day for me, the day I get bonded to my mate, but why did he do this? What did I ever do to him? If he didn’t want me, he could have rejected me privately; why do it in the presence of thousands of people who have always looked down on me? Why?

I stood there—lips shivering, hands shaking. I held the cup tightly, trying to steady my breathing, especially after feeling the bond snap. I watched Adien walk straight towards me indifferently, then said to me, “You’re not fit to be my mate or the luna of this pack. I had to make the right call.”

Immediately, with my chin held high, shoulders steady like I wasn’t the one going through excruciating pain right now, I walked toward a table, placed the cup of ceremonial wine on the table—then walked back to Adien who kept watching me, we maintained eye contact for about 10 seconds before I walked out of the hall majestically like I wasn’t the omega who just got rejected publicly.

I was able to bear it till I got to where I parked my car in the parking lot, the pain intensified—I felt like I couldn’t breathe, my head was banging, and I felt like screaming but I couldn’t. With my last strength, I got my car keys from my bag, opened my car, and got inside. For the first time in my life, my wolf surfaced—overwhelming, violent, and transformative—I had always thought that my wolf was hidden since I’m kind of a late bloomer, who would have thought it would come alive the moment I got rejected, ‘such is the irony of life’.

I immediately started my car and drove to my apartment with so much difficulty. It was late at night, and my apartment wasn’t that far from the pack house. I had moved out after saving up enough money because the bullying and ill treatments were getting too much, and I didn’t want to be a burden to my so-called mate, but I still stayed close, especially after realizing my mating ceremony was fast approaching. Even before the ceremony, before moving out—Adien had always been cold and distant towards me and I don’t know why, because my wolf has been hidden for years, I didn’t know that Adien was my mate until 2 years ago when I overheard the elder talking to Adien asking him if he has found his mate, then he said that I was his mate and he had known for a while and was planning on telling me. At that point, I didn’t know what or how to feel. I was happy I found my mate or rather my mate found me, but I wasn’t as elated as other wolves after finding their mate. Isn’t finding your mate supposed to be an unforgettable experience? Isn’t it like finally finding someone who will love and care for you? But this person never showed me affection, never cared about my situation—he never even looked at me twice.

At some point, I began to think maybe I had mistaken, his mate wasn’t actually me, but someone else with a similar name? But then, a few nights ago, he came to me and told me to prepare for the mating ceremony and left just like that.

I should have refused at that point, I shouldn’t have gone to that ceremony, in fact, I should have spit on his face before walking out and saved myself this humiliation, but No—I was love stricken and delusional, thinking he was just a gentleman who wanted to do things the right way before making a move on me—but I guess now I’ve learnt the hard way.

I finally managed to get to my apartment, soaked in sweat, with my hands shaking, I opened the door to a dark room—once inside my space, my emotions were finally poured out. I cried both from the pain of the mating bond and the pain from the heartbreak; I didn’t even know which one was worse. I sat by the side of the bed, sobbing and crying while hitting my chest to steady my breathing because it was getting difficult to breathe. My whole body was shaking with snot and saliva all over my face. At this moment, I didn’t care anymore. I was too heartbroken to care—the one time I decided to open my heart, and this happened?

‘What did he say—I don’t deserve to be his mate? His luna?—fuck him.’

Suddenly I felt a different kind of pain that was quite different from the initial pain I was feeling, this time it felt like I was being stabbed repeatedly with knives and my head was being hit repeatedly against the wall—I heard that sound in my head, it sounded like my wolf. The pain came with full force, causing me to scream loudly before fainting on the cold floor.

I woke up with a terrible headache, feeling pain all over my body—it felt like I had been run over by a bus. I sluggishly stood up, took my phone to check the time—it was past 12 noon, and I had slept for hours. I walked to the bathroom to wash my face before brushing my teeth and preparing for the day, but immediately I faced the mirror, I was shocked out of my mind and screamed—the person staring back at me wasn’t me.

No — it was me, just not the me I knew —

No, let me rephrase—the person staring back wasn’t me at all.

What the hell is going on?

I was sent to her.
To watch her. To protect her. And, when the order comes… to kill her.
My name is Keegan Caffery. I’m the Carter Mafia’s best hitman. I don’t miss. I don’t fail.
At least, I didn’t use to.
I don’t know what it is about her that got to me first—her mouth, her mind, or the way she looks at me like I’m not what she should fear.
I’ve had a gun to her head since I walked into her life.
She knows it.
And she still doesn’t run.
She just watches me back like she’s studying a problem she refuses to call impossible.
She’s the one variable I can’t control.
And God help me… I don’t want to.
I have an order. I have loyalty. I have a trigger.
But every time I imagine it—
I can’t stand it.
Her or me. That’s the math.
It’s a deadly equation I don’t want to solve.
⬥ Maisie ⬥
I’m not ordinary. I stopped pretending long ago.
My name is Maisie Seo. IQ 145. Clinical genius.
Which sounds impressive until you realize what it actually means: I don’t fit anywhere people expect me to.
I see patterns everywhere. Outcomes before they happen. People like equations I’ve already solved.
It gets lonely in a world you’ve already figured out.
So I dull myself down. Smoke the edges off. Pretend, badly, to be the kind of normal that lets people stay.
Then he walked in.
I knew what he was immediately. Dangerous. Intentional. Wrong in all the right ways.
I should be afraid of him.
I keep waiting for that to kick in.
Instead, I’m fascinated.
Because for the first time in my life… I’ve found something I can’t solve.
He is my deadly equation.
